We have stayed here several times over the past few years, as the location is super close to the Square. Make sure to check if there will be an event at the square while you are there, then you will have to deal with very loud noise till 2am.||||There are managment/owner October 2022. Unfriendliness, arrogance and incompetent. We stayed in August and had a dirty room. When we returned in October we asked to have the room cleaned before we arrive. Room was basic clean, but they don't empty the tiny trash bins in the common outside area, so after a day those are overflowing.||||Saturday night we went out with the car and informed the staff, that we will be returning at 10pm. At this night there was an event at the square, which we did not know. The streets were packed with cars, and the hostal entrance was blocked by the car of the owner/management's friend. We went inside and were told by the friends that noone was here working at night. After 30min they finally called the owner, who came and acted super annoyed that we bothered him. "no pasa nada" leave Your car outside, he said. We couldn't as in the time waiting drunk people peed on the car and threatened to damage it. Only when we insisted to call the police, the owner/managent couple told us that the car belongs to their friend, who is partying at the square. Another 15min later the friend came, being super rude that because of us he had to come back.||||Quality of a place is also measured on how well staff/managment/owner handles issues and how they speak with frustrated customers. The current managment/owner totally failed.||||We gave it another try, but won't return until owner changes again.||||edit: Pool is so dirty that it's not safe to use it. Whirlpool is filled with dark green water and lots...
Read moreJardin Escondito is a wonderful place that welcomes you into the enchanted valley of Vilcabamba. Located a half block from the town square, walking through the gates is like stepping into your own little sanctuary of peace and tranquility.||||We booked three nights in order to explore an area of Ecuador we had heard much about. Then we just kept adding days so we could enjoy more of this special spot. The hotel is a charming, family run business, were every single staff member went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Little things like offering us samples of their incredible baking, to offering us guidance and advise for our adventures.||||The room was immaculately clean and comfortable with plenty of hot water to wash away the grime and sore muscles we accumulated after our long daily hikes into the mountains. Hot coffee, jugo and breakfast are included, and a great way to fill up the tanks before heading out.||||We can not say enough about the friendly staff, that were patient with our beginner Spanish, and our many questions.||||Oh yeah, and they have a wonderful restaurant that serves set plate meals, that are affordable, very healthy and tasty.||||At night it was a secure and comforting place to unwind by the pool, or just sit among the fruit trees in the secluded garden and plan future adventures.||||A special thank you to Liliana, who is one of kindest and sweetest people we have met on our travels.||||This really is a place that must be visited to fully realize what an incredible hidden gem looks...
Read moreThe place is well located and the rooms are ok, but it doesn't really balance the unfriendliness of the day staff (night staff was completely friendly and nice, but you don't really deal with them).||It seems that anything you might ask is a matter of disturbance. ||I came by for breakfast (included in the price) at 8. The ladies made me understand that they were busy having a conversation and I was bothering. So I came back at 10:15, but it was too late. Only until 10:00. And this, obviously said on a totally unfriendly tone.||In the afternoon I asked for a coffee (kitchen serves as a restaurant during the day and there is coffee on the menu), I've been told there is no coffee.||The place was completely empty during my whole stay (2 nights), the restaurant as well, and I can understand why. Wouldn't recommend...
