-stayed x3 nights and room wasn't cleaned once. Toilets didn't allow toilet paper so had to leave in a rubbish bin next to the toilet, after 3 days very smelly and unsanitary.
-hotel staff were only friendly if I was willing to book a tour privately through them (extremely overpriced, paid $30USD for a drive to Giza & back, forced to book the driver's friend's Camel tour there which cost $100USD (2 hrs all up for the 'full day tour'), next day was $40 USD for a drive to the Citadel and Old Cairo (2.5 hrs for the 'full day tour'), driver did not speak a word of English). On my last day Carlos (hotel receptionist/manager) told me he would organise another driver for me for some additional sightseeing he very strongly recommend I do, I told him I was just get an Uber as I was going way over my travel budget spending $120USD+ per day in accomm, food and tours (Uber is safe, has english-speaking professional drivers and costs about 1/20th the price of his tours & others I saw I would recommend any tourist do after my bad experience), anyway Carlos became suddenly unfriendly and would only speak Arabic to the other workers in reception, I finally agreed to just pay it as I felt uncomfortable.
-WIFI barely worked, had to walk to a Cafe down the street every night to send emails and check-in with family
-I have travelled other parts of Africa, Asia, Central & South America and have stayed in guesthouses x10 better than this place for $10/night. For $35USD a night I would have expected at least a room tidied every night and somewhat professional staff not pushing over-priced tours. It's a shame because I am a Travel Agent and would have sent hundreds of customers Carlos's and the Hotel's way if he hadn't been so greedy and over-pricing me on the 'tours', now I will leave a few bad reviews of my experience on this site and others which will cost him a lot more than the 30-40USD in commission he would have made off me. We have a saying in Australia, 'wolf in sheep's clothing', and found that is the best way I can describe the experience I had with most of the staff there.
If I were you I would get a $10 10GB sim card from the airport on arrival, book Ubers for your transportation for everything, hotel to & from, Pyramids, Citadel, Bazaars, etc. (it's extremely affordable..cost me $3.50USD from central Cairo to Airport when I left...and you're in a safe & modern vehicle with a friendly, English speaking driver WITHOUT getting ripped off), and spend an extra $40-50 USD a night to stay in somewhere a lot more modern and...hopefully...without extremely pushy...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel in January 2023. I was looking for a comfortable stay in a budget - and Osiris Hotel was just the perfect match.
The first impression of this hotel was not that great since the building is not entirely owned by Osiris Hotel. It’s just a commercial building with offices and probably banks in different floors. But once you reach the hotel floor, you’ll be pleased.
To be very honest, budget hotels (or even the five stars) in Egypt get somewhat negative marks compared to western countries and therefore I was in a dilemma at first. However, upon our arrival it was very clear to me that Osiris was actually the place I was looking for.
We booked a room for 4 person - they gave us a 5 person family room. The price was reasonable. The room itself was very spacious, neat and clean. However, being a budget hotel it had some stains and marks in its walls.
It had a very spacious balcony. Washroom was basic (which is somewhat acceptable in this price range but they could definitely do better). The only issue is they don’t provide complimentary mineral water bottle which is weird because in my part of the world every hotel provides that.
Complimentary buffet breakfast was super cool. Not a five star with 50+ items, but what you get is value for money. They serve most traditional egyptian breakfast items including ful, egyptian flat bread, lentil soup, falafel, eggplant and other veg items. They also provide standard western breakfast like bread, boiled eggs, jam, cheese, yogurt, french fries, two types of juice, tea and coffee.
The service is satisfactory - especially the men in the reception are so helpful and friendly. We met the owner once and he was friendly as well. They have a cool rooftop (where breakfast is served) and nice common balcony with a few books to enjoy in your leisure.
Location is okay. It’s a 10-12 minute walk from Tahrir Square. You’ll get snacks and food shops, drug stores etc nearby. Roads are busy but walkable indeed.
The lift is not what you’ll see in America. It is a bit old fashioned and might seem scary to some people. But it is safe, no worries!
Overall I would recommend this hotel for every...
Read moreMy friends and I had our first vacation together so we were worried about common new travel issues like being ripped off, having language barriers, etc but Osiris Hotel helped us through all of it. Theres a person waiting to cater to your needs 24/7 at the reception desk and we learned that theres no stupid question you can possibly ask! If you have any questions they will address it to the best of their abilities. The rooms are very spacious, wifi comes with the room, and the location is amazing as it is in the heart of all the major tourist attractions. We needed help communicating with uber drivers and ordering delivery at 2 in the morning to which they happily helped us out with. In Egypt you will find many people doing you small favors and expecting big tips for their service but Osiris hotel was one of the few places where the only thing they wanted from us was our comfort and happiness. We had breakfast everyday during our stay where a man named Meenu made sure we got everything we needed. The rooftop shows amazing views of the city of Cairo if your into scenic spaces and are a social media fanatic as my friends are! The pyramids of Giza were the farthest from us but worth the 45 min uber ride which turned out to be less than 2$ thanks to my no international transaction fee credit card. We also went to the Citadel(10min ride) and a shisha lounge called Hookah in Heliopolis(30 min ride). So you can see Osiris hotel lies next to many amazing places(oh cant forget the 10 minute airport ride). The lounge in Osiris hotel is also very spacious and ideal to sit for a cup of tea or smoke a cigarette, up to you. I dont know, if I were you I'd book them asap because...
