Great location but if you want to sleep, rooms have no noise isolation, (outward facing rooms.
Clarification, responding to the owners response. I wrote the review to explain to people what the rooms are like. I chose this hotel due to the 5* reviews in the first place! You can read other reviews about the noise and duvets. Filter the 1 stars. The review isnt simply due to the child damage, that happens, it's a child! You cnt prevent that! So dnt be implying, Mr Fareed (GM) that it's due to the money, it's not.
The review was to highlight the outward rooms noise. I have disabilitys and no sleep makes them worse, I told your staff when I complained about the noise at 1 am. They said the hotel was full, I said ok.
It's a bit suspicious, why on Booking.com you changed my booking from Tourists hotel to Cairo Downtown.
Like I explained before, the rooms are clean and look nice. The main issue is the noise which I showed the GM, the window seals have gaps.
My parents stayed in a larger room, down the corridor, same issue!
Bribing is a big allegation, excuse me I never bribed you, Mr Saif! I actually was running late for maghrib prayers when we arrived back at the hotel. I said, I needed to pray quickly as time was short and asked for you to come back.
You came back and asked for £500 Egyptian pounds. With everything in Egypt, I asked for discount and I said is £200 alright and you took it. It wasn't a bribe it was to pay for the bed sheet and pillow case, the glass was wiped clean as again it was a washable red pen. It isn't my fault if there's a language barrier.
You later came back said the GM is not accepting £200, I said fine. Then I message the GM to tell him, I'm willing to pay for any damages, and he kept my waiting a few hours, even though I told him, I was very tired. I have disabilitys hence why I needed a rest! I have all the evidence in the form of WhatsApp messages, if anyone wants to see them.
I invited the GM to my room, let him explain the situation and we explained our frustrations. I told the GM before arriving at the booking stage, that I was a local guide and hopefully all going well, would leave a great review!
Also GM explained if staff, dnt notify him of any damages then he takes it from their wages, which I understand why Saif wad acting that way. No ones likes they wage cut for others fault. So again it wasn't about the money.
So thanks for responding, it's my duty to explain the noise. No hard feelings.
Also knows as Cairo Downtown hotel. Booked on booking.com for Tourists hotel, but changed it to Cairo Downtown, which is weird.
Must read! Downtown you expect noise but all the rooms on the outward facing, is like your sat in a room with no noise isolation. No relief till probably 4 am till 6 am.
The window seals are not sealed properly and the wall is half plasterboard hence the noise. Apparently they will fix when the hotel is not busy?
Police seem to setup checks, right outside the building for traffic control with grinding of the metal gates are loud. Only the smaller rooms, inside the building have less noise.
The duvets have no sheets, so very itchy. Apparently they change and wash them after each occupancy?Had to rap them in towels, otherwise I was ichty all the time. All the family felt the same.
Turned off hot water, 1 hour before check out time! Apparently there was a deadline! Saif attitude was not good, all other staff were nice.
Young 7 year old, used a water washable pen on duvet and cushion. Hell broke loose, made to wait a few hours for the GM. I asked if I could sleep and pay any fees after but made me wait!
Took £500 Egyptian pounds, it wasn't the money, it was waiting around which could have been resolved later in the evening
Postive Family rooms are large and clean. Bathroom is build into the room, small but able to move around. Water pressure and hot water is great.
Cleaning staff are friendly and breakfast is average. You whatapp to receive a breakfast plate to your room.
Location is great to get around via Uber or by foot or metro which...

I can confidently say that this has been the best hotel experience I’ve had in over 10 years of traveling with Booking! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth, professionalism, and an outstanding level of hospitality that made me feel at home right away. Everything about my stay was exceptional, from the warm welcome to the meticulous attention to detail that ensured an unforgettable experience.
Outstanding Service That Exceeds Expectations
I can’t talk about my experience without giving special recognition to Saif Mohammed and Islam, two of the best hotel staff members I have ever met. They were incredibly professional, always available, and eager to assist with anything I needed. What truly impressed me was their dedication to going above and beyond. When I had an issue exchanging money into Egyptian pounds, they didn’t just offer advice—they personally stepped in, resolved the issue immediately, and did so with kindness and efficiency. Their help turned what could have been a stressful situation into yet another example of the hotel’s exceptional hospitality. Without them, I would have struggled to manage, and I owe them a huge thank you for their incredible support!
Perfect Location – The Heart of Cairo
Beyond the amazing service, the hotel boasts an unbeatable location. Situated between the majestic Nile River—just a short walk away—and Cairo’s most iconic historical sites, it offers the best of both worlds. The Egyptian Museum is within easy reach, allowing you to explore the treasures of the Pharaohs effortlessly. On the other side, the Islamic district, with its vibrant bazaars, charming alleys, and stunning architectural landmarks, is just a short trip away. Whether you are a history enthusiast, an explorer, or simply someone looking to soak in the cultural essence of Cairo, this hotel serves as the perfect base for your adventure.
A Unique Breakfast Experience – A Delightful Start to the Day!
One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s breakfast service. Unlike most hotels where you have to rush to a dining area, here, breakfast is served directly in your room, allowing for a peaceful and relaxing start to the day. The meal itself was delicious, varied, and beautifully presented, featuring fresh and high-quality ingredients to suit all tastes. Every morning felt like a treat, with a well-balanced and energizing breakfast that set the perfect tone for the day’s adventures in Cairo. The attention to detail in how the meal was prepared and served reflected the hotel’s commitment to excellence in every aspect of the guest experience.
Unparalleled Comfort – Impeccable Rooms & Exceptional Service
Staying at this hotel was more than just having a place to sleep—it was a complete experience of comfort and relaxation. My room was spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished, and equipped with everything a traveler could need. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, ensuring deep and restful sleep after long days of exploring. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful, providing the perfect retreat from the lively energy of the city.
Why Would I Return?
What truly sets this hotel apart is not just its fantastic location or excellent services, but the genuine hospitality it offers. It’s a place where you’re treated not just as a guest, but as a valued visitor. The combination of elegance, comfort, and warmth is something rare to find, even in top-rated hotels.
I am absolutely certain that I will book this hotel again without hesitation. It has exceeded my expectations in every possible way. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Cairo that offers the perfect location, outstanding service, and unparalleled comfort, this is the ideal choice!

Read moreHonest Review of Tourist Hotel Cairo – Mixed Experience
Our stay at Tourist Hotel Cairo was a mixed experience. While the hotel was relatively well-maintained and centrally located—perfect for those wanting to experience the non-stop energy of Cairo—it had several major downsides.
Firstly, the noise level was unbearable. The windows were not double-glazed, and being on the 4th floor with no proper safety measures, it felt quite exposed. The constant city noise made it extremely difficult to sleep, something that was not mentioned anywhere in the Booking.com listing. Cairo is known as a city that never sleeps, but a hotel should at least offer some insulation from the chaos outside.
The breakfast was disappointing. It was advertised as Continental or Full English, but in reality, it consisted of pre-packaged jam, local flatbreads, eggs, La Vache Qui Rit cheese, and Nescafé or Lipton tea—far from what was expected.
One of the biggest letdowns was the bathroom situation. There were no photos available online, and once we arrived, we understood why—they were extremely small and disappointing.
The Most Unbelievable Part During our stay, we lost the hotel key card, and at checkout, the hotel manager gave us an ultimatum: either pay a fee or leave a perfect 10/10 review on Booking.com. In fact, he waited for us to write it on the spot before letting us leave. This kind of approach was extremely unprofessional and left a very bad impression.
The Only Positive On the positive side, the location was excellent** if you want to immerse yourself in the real Cairo. Everything was within reach, and it was convenient for exploring the city.
Final Verdict Overall, if you're looking for a basic stay in a central area and don’t mind the noise, this might work for you. But if you're expecting comfort, honesty, soundproofing, or a proper breakfast, this hotel may not meet your expectations. And be careful with...
