The place and the atmosphere is the best of this restaurant, nicely decorated inside and outside (though some deco is in fact spanish as the bottle of wine from "rioja"...). The prices are almost the double (of even more) than the ones here months or a year ago. I paid for the cheapest Bruschetta + pizza + coke + expresso + 12% service tax almost 600 EGP (18€) which is a lot for Egypt, but if the food was good, then it would be OK but ... it is nothing special. I was there two times because it was near my hotel and I didn't want to look further. The first time, I had pasta with grilled chicken which had like 4 mini pieces of chicken (clearly not more than 1/3 of a chicken steak) and the rest was just pasta with a tasteless sauce. Ok, it could have been a bad day but it was not... check the second time. The second time I ordered what I told above: the Bruschetta and the pizza had no taste, it was full of a tasteless cheese (in theory with truffles but zero taste from truffles). Then I had to order 4 times my expresso...
Someone wrote "tastes like in Italy"... sorry, only if you haven't been in Italy or even in an European country with an Italian restaurant, it is MUCH better (I do better at home and I'm not Italian...) than in CaiRoma.
The ambient is very nice with Latin music and beautiful lights / deco. But the food isn't good enough and the prices are very touristic. I hope they change the quality in the future and don't get (more) greedy with...
Read moreI recently visited Cairoma and tried their salami pizza and baffala pizza. Both were flavorful and had a nice texture, though they weren’t the best pizzas I’ve ever had. They were enjoyable and had a good balance of toppings, but for a place specializing in Italian cuisine, I expected a bit more depth in flavor. I also ordered a lemon mint drink, which was refreshing but fairly average; it could have used a bit more zest to stand out.
What really made the visit memorable was the ambiance. Cairoma captures the Italian vibe well, with cozy decor that transports you to a classic Italian setting. The music was a highlight, adding to the restaurant’s charm and creating a relaxed yet lively environment. It’s a nice spot for a casual gathering or a laid-back night out with friends.
However, I felt the experience could have been improved by friendlier staff. While the service was efficient, a warmer, more welcoming approach would make the experience feel more authentic and enjoyable. Friendly, attentive staff can elevate the overall atmosphere and make guests feel valued.
Overall, my experience at Cairoma was good. While the food and drinks didn’t exceed expectations, the Italian vibes and music made up for it, leaving me with a positive impression. It’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a good Italian-inspired atmosphere in a welcoming space. With a bit more attention to customer service, this place could...
Read moreI’d like to start by saying that I’m Italian and live in Milan. My girlfriend and I were feeling nostalgic for the food from home, so we decided to go to this restaurant. The atmosphere is stereotypically Italian, with Italian music, tricolor flags, and some black and white pictures of famous Italian people.
The food is okay for being in Cairo, the tomato pasta is good, and the pizza is also decent. They only accept cash.
The problem with the place is the staff, who are rude and not very accommodating, with some passive-aggressive behavior. For example, I dropped some pasta, and the waitress took my napkin while I was still eating to clean it up without leaving me a new one, which was very impolite. Moreover, while I was still eating my pizza, the waiters started clearing the table to the point that I ended up holding a slice in my hand with nothing left on the table, ridiculous!
When it was time to pay the bill, presumably the owner or manager started counting the money we left to pay for our meal in front of us, asking us to change a 200 Egyptian pound, saying it was not good because of a small tear. At that point, I told her that if she wanted, she could accept a card payment so I could take back the cash, and she then agreed to take the cash payment, including the cash with the tiny cut.
To conclude, the food is ok, but be prepared to be patient and ready for the special treatment...
