Our hotel staff recommended this place for a quick dinner after we landed in Cairo. The menu is in Arabic but we managed just fine. This particular location you order on the street level floor counter and head down to pick up your food. Maybe we didn’t understand the system but we waited for about 15-20 minutes for the food, not a huge deal to us at all. You need to give your receipt to the cooks in the lower level to get your food, but everyone was waiting. Since we clearly looked confused, a very kind local that spoke English helped us. As this isn’t a touristy spot but rather a popular local favorite, know you’ll have to get by on your own as far as ordering and pick up because the staff don’t speak English or the ones we encountered. The food we ordered was shawarma and chicken style sandwiches and were absolutely delicious! They came with a coke. The meat was so well prepared. And the portions of the sandwich box we ordered were more than enough for two very hungry people. The box also came with crisps, which were very good. We did take out but there is very limited street seating. Highly recommend visiting this spot if you are staying in or near...
Read moreI visited Kazaz after hearing a lot of hype, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The prices were reasonable, which might seem like a plus at first, but the quality of the food just didn’t match.
I specifically tried the chicken shawarma, and it was honestly a big letdown. The meat was dry, lacked seasoning, and had no real flavor. It felt rushed and carelessly prepared. Even the bread didn’t taste fresh, and the sandwich overall was bland and forgettable.
With all the buzz around this place, I expected something much better. Sadly, the food quality doesn't reflect the reputation. I’ve had better shawarma from simple street vendors. The service was okay—not slow, but nothing special either.
To be honest, Kazaz is not worth the try if you’re looking for good taste and decent food quality. Maybe it works for a quick bite, but it’s definitely not a place I...
Read moreThe cheapest place to eat in Cairo period.
Ground floor is take away only, but if you go upstairs theres seating and the friendliest waiters willing to help you. Their main dishes are mostly meat based, but look closely and you will find some great Vegetarian and Vegan options, I recommend the felafels, the egg plant with tomatoes, Baba ghanouj, Dolma or vine leaf rolls, Lentil soup with or without butter, as some of the Vegetarian and Vegan options. Again the prices cannot be beaten.
The place is usually very busy in the evening, with a few minutes wait to get seated, but the waiters are professional and will get you seated in no time. Be warned the spelling on the menu is atrocious, in this case Googling is your best bet.
Definitely give this place a go, its packed with locals which is usually...
