Hôtel Le Dauphin — Hotel in Arcachon

We chose an average-priced 3-star hotel for our stay. Breakfast was an extra €11, and with the added local tourist tax, we paid €140 per night per couple. On the plus side, the twin beds were spotless and comfortable, the air- conditioning worked well, there was constant hot water, breakfast was a hugely varied and excellent buffet with friendly helpful staff, and we always found a space in the car park. On the minus side, the rooms were small and dated, only one bed had a bedside table so the hard Formica chair had to be used as a substitute, no mini- bar, and no tea and coffee making facilities; there were not even glasses for drinking and/or teeth cleaning - just two very flimsy paper cups instead. There was a coffee machine in the entrance hall, with capsules available for €1 from the desk staff, (if they were there), although there was plenty of space below the desk in the room to have installed a mini -bar , with a tray of cups and a kettle on the top. If the hotel could completely redesign , with fewer and larger bedrooms and more guest comforts, this could be a splendid 3-star hotel ; as it is, it is 2-star at 3-star prices. Weren't allowed to check in till after 3, we were attending a wedding and was told we could change in the breakfast room. there was 3 couples we asked could we even have one room and were told no. so we had to go to a friend's hotel as showers etc were needed because of the heat and the tan the ladies had applied was setting and needed to be washed we went to the wedding and checked in round 4am when we arrived back which wasn't great as we had to collect our stuff from the friends hotel....the reason I share that story as it is not something we would have ever thought of but it was a pain. It is manageable just awkward..... As for the hotel Basic hotel, bed was ok shower head holder was broke was never checked even tho we asked. Pool was nice said it was climatised but was colder than the sea but it was 30 degrees when we were there so it was ok cold as a hotel for a cheap weekend break yeah I would recommend but for attending a wedding it was...

This hotel is a SCAM! We booked our room for two adults and got a small room for one. The room is also without a refrigerator and the air conditioning is not working. The ladies at the reception were very unpleasant and unwilling, they could barely speak a little English. Despite the fact that they had posted at reception, that they speak English and Spanish. This really disappointed us and I clearly do not recommend the hotel. Upon arrival, we wanted to take advantage of the pool option, but the lady at the reception told us that the pool is closed today and doesn't know when it will be open. Another great surprise when it was 30 degrees.
