On a stormy night, we went to the cafe de la plage the 4 of us, we were meeting after we last seen our friends in Paris, October 2017. Anticipation were very high, as it is suppose to be an outstanding... seafood restaurant. We were first directed to the sister restaurant till a table would be available. After enjoying a drink we were seated at the cafe. My wife had the breaded egg with asparagus sauce. It was excellent. Then a tray of oysters on the half shell, flawless. Unfortunately the main course were not on the same level...I should have known that in a seafood restaurant ordering lamb shoulder " de pre-sale" was not smart. As a chef myself I have always complained about french,s chef tendency to undercook some meat...rare duck breast, rare leg of lamb, rare partridge breast when actually those meats are much nicer cooked " a point!" To allow connective tissues to melt into the muscle. Well our individual SHOULDER of baby lamb ( yes lamb is already a baby) was so under cook and inedible at 27€ each that most of it was left on the plate, it should have been braised or cooked slow heat for 7 hours like " gigot d,agneau de 7 heures ". Shame to the chef, not only we were served inappropriately cook meat, but that beautiful animal was killed and wasted!!! I did complaint to the waitress, however being exhausted from driving I did not insisted about the terrible dish, and I felt utterly embarrassed on the front of my Peruvian friends where the food over there is always very good, and myself a born and raised French chef can see a huge decline in food quality and caring in my birth...
Read moreWe were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary! Having read the reviews and literally walked in to reserve a table, I knew from the extremely helpful staff that it was going to be special! I quite simply cannot praise this restaurant enough!
It was perfect in every way. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, and our food choices were simply fabulous - myself and another in our party wanted a seafood platter and were delighted when we realised we could pick our own choices and build a platter. This was definitely a big plus, and we were not disappointed.
The rest of our party chose steak and again were delighted with the quality, flavour, and presentation.
Desserts were excellent, and we had the best Irish coffee I have ever been served.
Thank you all so very much, I highly recommend this restaurant and will most definitely return when we are in...
