I stayed in an Executive bedroom (609) which I do not remember having booked with my partner nor being informed of complimentary upgrade. It was large and perfect. (I imagine that the other "standard" rooms are as big as in ibis tbh.)
That is not the fault of the hotel as ACCOR as decided to fired/furlough all teams during covid: But i stayed in October 2021 (6 months after most restrictions lifted) but there were numerous of issues (maintenance and housekeeping) that are not be acceptable for such establishments (4stars!?) at retail price of 130€/night. I mentioned to the Receptionist upon check out on Monday 18th October as they are simple things to fix but seems the management now don't care either as we are back to business almost as before... Accor should have used this time to renovate most of their hotel... Wrong strategy to save billions for the head office. A shame.
The breakfast at 18,50€ is a rip off. You have the same items and products for 9.50€ at ibis. But in mercure the orange and apple juice are displayed in a glass jar... But it is the same product that is served in ibis. OK 3 items are gluten free... Woa.
On my stay: The staff at Reception was good and helpful. same if I needed to explain (again) the room was prepaid since 2020 and while I emailed 3 times in regards to confirm the booking. The team was simply not aware that same if I mentioned 3 times at check/in/out I have a difference price to pay (yes ACCOR asked guests to pay the difference for booking postpone due to covid situation into 2021 stay). Strangely I didn't pay the extra but no explanation has been given so I imagine that will of good gesture has been given. The breakfast team told me "aurevoir et bonne journee" but nobody to say "bonjour" nor to take my room number... Seems you can eat for free. The WiFi worked perfectly. The Best is the soundproof and FULL darkness of the bedroom. Not even a single LED lights from TV or other device that shown... THANK YOU. The mattress and pillows are great. I love the shower... But a bathtub would have been appreciated especially I mentioned I was coming for the marathon run. Did not try the fitness center. Hotel and surrounded were really cleaned and safe. Leave at nanterre prefecture RER station as it is 30sec walk. Housekeeping cleaning your room every 3 days is a rip off. OK it's covid but I am in hospitality myself and seriously for the price of the room...
Housekeeping entering in my room at 10:30am while I was just finished to get dressed and listening music while packing... But of course there are NO "NO DISTURB" sign available in the room. Check out time was 12:00 so... She should never have entered.
And the best was: I confirmed 3 times it will.be myself and my partner. Asking for a double bed. We finished with 1 double bed and the sofa opened as an extra bed... Because you know 2 male cannot sleep together!!!! I will put this on miscommunication and agency staff to prepare the room but seriously unacceptable: 1) we felt discriminated. 2) use of bed linen for nothing. There were cleaned and not used but had to be Washed again... So the respect of Planet 2021... Lots of bla bla bla and no real action in fact.
Finally: the hotel is NOT arche de la Defense: it is Paris Arena or Nanterre prefecture which means metro ticket end 20min walk from the hotel while RER (train) ticket will cost you 1.95€ per person per trip... The name is a...
Read moreThis has to be the worst experience in a hotel ever, let alone a freaking four star hotel in Paris... I arrived on a Monday and I had already paid in advance for 11 days(bussiness trip). Unfortunately for me my room was not yet ready as "there were concerts the previous day" so I left my baggage with them and left for work. I arrived later that evening very tired to find out that the receptionist has no clue of my check-in, he couldn't simply find my reservation. 30 minutes and a few excel files later he finds my reservation but it seems it is not in the main building but the one attached to it, this already sounded phishy. Then the clerk proceeded to collect the city tax and straight up notified me I do not have breakfast included which was not the case as the reservation including breakfast was already paid through expedia, i was simply too annoyed and didn't care as i knew i would solve it by calling the agency. I was then directed to my room which besides having alot of patches in the bathroom seemed decent. Tried turning on the tv, remote control was not working so I left a note that it didn,t work. Attached to this post there is an image where they also left a message "ok, thanks" but the remote control still did not work. Fast forward to Saturday when i bring 2 shirts, 1 polo tshirt, 4 pairs of socks and underwear to be cleaned, they are returned in the evening "clean" buy none of the white socks were actually white, shirts and polo were nicely cleaned and arranged. On Sunday i left early to visit Paris, when i got back room was not cleaned, which was also the case for Monday. On tuesday, after getting back from work, the room was still not cleaned and there was no more toilet paper so I went to the reception to complain where i found out that "But sir, you do not know the rules, since you reserved for a long period the price was smaller(130 eur a night) and in this case we only clean once per week", i told him i do not see these rules printed anywhere, that when i paid i did not select the "cheap" option and that actually until Saturday room was cleaned daily to which he replied "Sir, that was actually a mistake", the same evening they brought toilet paper, soap, changed the towels and took out the garbage bin, sheets were not chamged however. Next day room was cleaned but that was the last day when they did it. During the breakfast, each day I ate there someone would cone to me, while I was eating, and it would ask me my room number and "it's good, eh?", like i only ate bananas and polenta before coming to their hotel. When checking out i could see the breakfast for each day noted in the application they are using plus the cleaning of clothes service, I told them I am not paying for breakfast and there was no problem with that, however I was charged 70 euro for the washing of the clothes i mentioned earlier, considering nothing was a brand I could have bought all those clothes during sale season for the same amount if not even less, would also like to say that when i brought the clothes no one said there will be a charge or what the amount of the charge would be, they simply charged and i believe it was the maximum charge they could apply for cleaning. Great way to not give a f about your customers, Mercure hotels France! I left on Friday, remote control worked on...
Read moreAs it is right now, except if you have business in Nanterre, I would advise you against going to this hotel. Let's get the nice things first: Hotel rooms are big. I was upgraded (but I suspect that's 90% of the people going there) to a privilege room. During check in, all the people around me (4 other rooms) were being upgraded. People at check in and in general in the hotel are very nice. Friendly and joyful. They're the ones preventing me from putting 1 star.
Bad things: This should be called Mercure Nanterre, the "grande arche" is not close at all. About 15 minutes walk. It is noisy. I was offered either a renovated room on the 4th floor or a new room on the 7th. They told me that the rooms on the 4th floor are a bit noisier (the RER trains go under the hotel). Even on the 7th, you will hear the trains. It is not very loud but it is there. Renovations. I won't comment on the decoration of the old rooms but the renovations themselves are painful. On the second day, no lights in the corridors, TV and wifi were out for a while. Hotel restaurant (for those who care) is not available. Breakfast feels more like a survivor TV show (for 1st world people) where you need to gather what you need for breakfast while in rude competition: table, cutlery, mugs, bread, butter, glasses are scarce.
Around the hotel you have some restaurants and shops, while not charming, they do the job decently. (again a big thumb up to the people working there, they were very nice, not at all "parisian rude"). The RER (regional train) station while just downstairs of the hotel, is in zone 3, so tickets will cost you more to get to Paris.
The hotel is clearly mislabeled, the environment, while being what it is, is noisy and the renovations are significantly impacting the comfort of the hotel. As it is right now, I feel the hotel is clearly overpriced (and that same feeling was echoing at other tables...
