This was a work trip paid for by my business.||||This stay was an absolute disaster from start to finish. It was not obvious where to check in and when I attempted to do so, there was no record of my pre-payment. When I tried to prove this I was asked to move away from the check in desk despite it not being my error. This was rude and dismissive and it turned out only to be the city tax that was required and not the whole rate. ||||When I crossed the square to the Residences, I was greeted with a room that was not like the pictures. The lights in the corridor were hanging from wires, there were no chairs at the table only padded stools. There was no mirror in the main bedroom. The curtains didn't match. It smelled of cigarettes and only 5 TV channels worked. ||I had seen reviews of bathrooms that contained mould and mildew and while mine wasn't that bad, it definitely could do with upgrading. After the debacle at Reception I didn't want the stress of complaining again.||There is no cafe, restaurant or any facilities in The Residence so no way to get anything up to your room without ordering in (other guests using Uber eats) or going to the supermarket next door.||I did not feel safe in this room.||On the second night, at 10pm, there was a fire alarm activation. Since the building did not appear to be staffed, evacuation was chaotic, disorderly and there was no clear messaging about the cause or whether it was safe to return. People were stood outside in the rain and told to re-enter while the alarm was still sounding.||||The in-built hairdryer got too hot to hold which was another element that didn't feel safe.||||I would not recommend this hotel - if you have booked Mercure, make sure it is in the main hotel which looked decent, and not the Residences.||||On a positive, it is right next to the station, but also a busy market which might be hard to navigate if still in full swing when you arrive. It is a short walk to the stadium and approx 25 mins walk...
Read moreAVOID!!! My WORST experience ever in a hotel!
Waiting time, stupidity and there was someone in my room while I was there!
Terrible receptionist. Made me wait 20min in the queue to tell me my room was not ready yet (arrived at 22h) and and I should wait 10min and re-do the queue. Doesn’t make any sense, and waiting with my kid and my mother at the lobby. Stupidity. It happened also with another guest, that had been told there was a “problem” with the system. Reception too slow, big queue.
They didn’t have the room (apartment we booked) so they made us stay in 2 different rooms, after more than 1h waiting. The reason was that the apartment was not clean.
The next day, we came back and when entering in one of the rooms, we found someone’s else stuffs in there! They gave my room to someone! What about my own stuffs?
I’m definitely going to the police, didn’t do that yet to not loose my holidays.
I recorded it in...
Read moreWe stayed in room 523 for the duration of 6 days. The carpet leading to the room was heavily stained, and when entering the room we were greeted by a bad smell that potentially could be the smell of drainpipes or toilet (feces).
Both the toilet seat and bathtub had dark coloured stains on them, which upon closer inspection the enamel on was actually damaged and peeled off.
There was mold in the edges of the bathtub which some maintenance worker sealed behind some plastic filler material - not to mention that the toilet was leaky and kept making noise throughout day & night.
When checking out I wanted to extend my stay for a few more nights - reception told me a price (around 20-30% higher forgot what exactly it was than the web price) that felt ridiculuous so I moved out to another place, only to find out later that evening after checking the web prices, that reception quoted me a price significantly higher than the...
