Patricia was a welcoming host! I stayed two nights in April.
Likes ++ I messaged her as directed on the Cybevasion website. Coming from the US, I didn't have an acceptable method of payment but she penciled in my reservation and requested I contact her closer to the expected arrival date. After later confirming the arrival date, she acknowledged my reservation. I paid in cash (Euros, of course). ++ Breakfast was delicious! The weather was nice so it was set up in the veranda. ++ Patricia is knowledgeable about the area and a good conversationalist. She recommended a couple spots in Chenonceaux for eating dinner and tips for one of the places. ++ Helped me in finding a place to stay in Amboise after night 2. Though she didn't know anyone directly, her search turned out to give another great bed and breakfast. ++ Wifi. Not all bed and breakfasts have wifi.
Warnings -- For whatever reason the toilet started losing pressure and finally lost all pressure so it wouldn't flush. Thankfully another room was open and she allowed that room's toilet to be used. -- If you're not a French speaker I'm not sure how you would make a reservation. However, her guest book was signed by people from all over the world so it is doable.
Notes I used the train system to get to Chenonceaux, which was rather straightforward. Transportation out of Chenonceaux is limited. I ended up getting a taxi reserved from the town's Office of Tourism to get to Amboise. Cost: 30 Euros.
I do not regret staying here and would return if I visit...
Read moreBetty is a lovely hostess! We stayed in one of the two rooms available at this Chambre d'hotes in Chenonceaux. Conveniently located in the town of Chenonceaux, walking distance to the village, multiple places to dine and the chateau itself. Every morning we were greeted with fresh made breakfast fare, including a home made cherry clafoutis and two different home made breads! Betty makes her own jam which was divine! We were provided great insight into the various sites in the area and Betty even booked a bike rental service that delivered to us - really too convenient. Recommend you learn a few words of french, but Betty's english is better than she admits :). Also note, no AC and the rooms are upstairs. If the temps are high, it can be quite...
Read moreDespite Jaimexplorer's miserable experience, I booked two rooms at the Clos Mony for my family. I'm glad we did, as we had a wonderful experience. We found the proprietor, Mme Le Clainche, to be very welcoming. The rooms were clean and airy, and filled with bird songs at first light. There was an ample breakfast included in the rate -- the homemade apricot preserves were, without doubt, the best I have ever tasted. The guest house was conveniently located on a quiet lane just off of the main street, less than a five minute walk to local restaurants and to Chenonceaux. One bit of advise: one of your party should be minimally conversant in French, as very little...
