EDITH Restaurant — Restaurant in Loches

I am rating based only on my personal experience of trying to eat there and not actually getting any service, food, or chance to grasp the atmosphere. Visited at noon time with two young kids. The first greeting, although polite and with a smile, was "Did you see the menu? It's on the door!" So the menu was a set 3 course menu with no alternative for kids or any flexibility from the people working there to get out of the ordinary and try to accommodate a 2 and 4 year old with something special like an omelette or a slice of bread and butter... in a cafe with only 2 customers inside at that moment! Had I visited alone, I might have had the chance to stay, taste, and give them more stars. But from my experience I believe it is clear there was nothing to like about this place. Editing after your response, which is arrogant and just assuming you're referring to the correct disappointed customer, as if you could remember each and every one of us in your full house (of 2 persons at 12.30 when I visited). I detailed my experience with you, so I have every right to review you based on your attitude. Thus, I wish I could give you 0 stars after your response. What a sad excuse to say you use fresh ingredients so you can't cook more than a salad, a main and a dessert. For such a busy cafe, maybe you could afford to buy a bigger fridge and pantry to store more ingredients, perhaps print some more menus apart from the one on your door... oh, i forgot the blackboard on the sidewalk. That must have taken all your budget! As for me, you can be relieved to know I wouldn't be returning to your cafe if it was the only one...

The food was absolutely fantastic. The menu has a great range and the food had great bold flavors. I particularly enjoyed the rillons (pork) that was bathed in magical sauce made by Markel himself.

Great selection of drinks to enjoy including beer for a hot summer day. For beer lovers, consider trying the “La Salamander”, best beer I’ve had in France!

When we visited in July 2021, we assumed this place had been there for years – the building is hundreds of years old and was once the home of the guardian of the chateau. But EDITH itself had only been running for a few weeks which caught us by surprise because it really does feel like a permanent fixture in this idyllic village.
