The location was perfect, the decor was quirky. The hotel has a lot of potential to be excellent. Attention to detail is lacking and rooms are not equipped as they could be but with some more thought and a different attitude from staff, this hotel could be outstanding.
Breakfast was average, they ran out of fresh bread and croissants an hour before breakfast finished, the scrambled egg was unpleasant and the milk was not fresh (UHT).
Our bedroom was basic and functional but this was my first experience of bathroom facilities inside the actual room and only separated by a curtain! Not ideal and should certainly be addressed.
The staff were inconsistently friendly. One of them was a lot more personable than the other. We were not told that parking was an additional cost so when we were charged at the end of our stay we questioned this. The member of staff was rude (rolling eyes and getting annoyed) and refused to accept any responsibility at all. When we ordered a drink at the bar a different member of staff was pleasant but did not engage in any dialogue with us, did not ask how we were enjoying our stay or showed any interest at all. No one made us feel very welcome throughout the 48 hours we were there.

Our room was basic with toilet, shower and sink being in the room and sectioned off by just a curtain which was a new experience for us! The bed was comfortable and it all appeared to be clean. The room was cleaned on our full day there which we were unaware of until afterwards. The door was left open leaving our belongings at risk. ||||I would not return to the hotel in its current form being run as is it now but I would book again in an instant if the owners made necessary changes. The reason for a 1* review was the pure and utter disgrace of customer service not given upon check out. We had communicated that we were brining our bikes with us as travelling through the town and had communicated this via email, it’s correct to say that via email, it was allowed that bikes could be placed in the outside courtyard however on arrival we asked politely again as we really were looking to place our bikes in rooms or just inside which ti our delight was allowed!
However upon check out the lady who served us was incredibly rude saying this wasn’t allowed even though we asked her colleague the previous day… and kept on making remarks about it as the conversation went on.
The irony of it all was that she persistently went on to say we were not listening when she was looking to charge us upon exit for a room that wasn’t out after asking for our booking. She was looking to charge us for another booking for two nights over one.
In a nutshell, I wouldn’t recommend, she was incredibly incredibly rude and I didn’t even apologise after plain right...
