The Anantara Plaza Nice is located not far from the Promenade des Anglais & Place Massena and offers a total of 151 rooms & suites. The first hotel of the Anantara brand in Nice is housed in a Belle Epoque building from the 19th century & opened its doors in December 2022.
I booked an LHW Vita rate & contacted the hotel upfront in regards of our room preferences. On arrival late in the evening we were checked in & handed over our keys. When trying to use the elevator we realized that our keys were not coded and that we were not able to enter the floor. Thus we asked the friendly lady at the front desk to kindly code our keys. It took a short discussion with the three other ladies at the front desk that were chatting privately at that time.
Finally we made it to our room that to our surprise was very small & very strangely cut until we realized that we had been allocated a room for disabled persons. In addition the room was not cleaned properly with hairs on the bed and in the bathroom, stains on the toilet seat & overall the furniture was in a quite worn state.
Following we informed the hotel through their feedback questionnaire available online when you connect with the Wi-Fi (which is quite a comfortable feature). The next day one apologized for allocating such a room to us & finally we were allocated the neighboring room, a Grand Premium Garden View Room with balcony. As described by many previous guests the standard rooms with 20 square meters in size are very small for a hotel in this category (but that is something you are aware of when you book the hotel). The newly assigned room featured a comfortable king size a bed, a flat-screen TV, a mini bar with coffee & tea making facilities, a very small wardrobe (if you plan to stay longer you may better keep your clothes in your suitcase) & an ensuite bathroom with a shower/bathtub combination, two sinks & a separate toilet. After our complaint the housekeeping did their best to keep our room in a clean state. At the end I really wondered why they allocated such a worn room for disabled persons to us as LHW Vita guests & against the background that the hotel was not fully booked.
Breakfast is served in the rooftop-restaurant SEEN by Olivier. The selection is quite good & the service friendly. The restaurant is more than sufficiently staffed as are all other areas of the hotel. However, also here the ladies & gentlemen were chatting to each other instead of focusing on their job. So they forgot e. g. to serve us our ordered teas twice. You had to ask for cutlery to be replaced. They were all friendly but not focused & you got the impression that management attention is missing in many areas of the hotel. If you consider the high prices (coffee & tea at a price of up to ten euros) one can expect an excellent service in my opinion.
Overall the hotel has a lot of potential but urgently needs corrective action in terms of training & management attention.

Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared - especially with the leadership team of this hotel. Housekeepers and concierges are often the unsung heroes of hospitality, and in my case, they were nothing short of lifesavers. I had one of those inconceivable moments where you stop and think: “Is this really happening right now?!” I had just returned from Monaco after purchasing a rare Saint Laurent skirt — and after four hours of alterations, it was finally mine. I rushed back to Nice to get ready for a major birthday celebration, one that over 70 people from around the world had flown in for, including my own family. Already running late, I slipped into my outfit only to discover the security tag was still attached. The stores were closed. My numerous calls to Saint Laurent went unanswered. I was devastated. In a full-blown panic, I opened my hotel door in tears and, quite literally, in my underwear. I saw two housekeepers and begged for help. One of them - Astou - calmly stepped into action. She didn’t hesitate. She got on her phone, called downstairs, and before I could blink, the concierge (Antony) was sprinting through the streets of Nice with my friend to find any store that could remove the security tags. What they accomplished was nothing short of magic. A store that had already closed agreed to help. They removed the tag, and just like that, what felt like a disaster turned into a moment of deep gratitude. While we waited, Astou helped me with my jewelry, talked me through my nerves, and made me laugh when I was on the verge of tears. She was warm, steady, and truly present. To Astou and Anthony: I will never forget your kindness. I know it’s rare for people to step up so selflessly in high-stress moments. You did. And I want leadership (Juliana, Thiedel, etc.) to know that your team’s empathy, composure, and swift action is the heartbeat of this hotel. Also, thank you to the wonderful woman at the front desk who listened to my story with empathetic eyes the next morning and provided me with the names of everyone. You all turned a nightmare into a story I’ll always remember with a smile. Thank you from the bottom...

We loved it so much we extended our stay (a few times :)
Dog Friendly!!! Yes, no dogs on beds, etc, but upon check-in, they delivered a fresh and super PLUSH from the laundry dog bed that my pup absolutely ADORED! Pretty sure she also made besties with the entire staff :) (she says she'll be writing her review and 5 paws review on social :) The staff were all so SO incredibly welcoming, helpful and kind.
We initially booked a premium sea-view with terrace room for 1-night which was indeed "cozy" but on par with European spaces and was SO well designed for the space - it had a fab little terrace...picturesque. Imagine coffee, tea, or glass of wine while watching the city below...It was absolutely fantastic.
We then stayed in the balcony sea-view rooms - still absolutely dreaming of evenings on the balcony listening to the music down below and sparkling evening lights. (Loved also starting the day with yoga on the balcony before the heat of the day increased)
On the rooftop restaurant...some days were absolutely certainly hit or miss with service, not because the staff were not trying, but there was just some major newly opened disorg that happens with the best of the best at the start of season. That said the food was amazing, the sunset/evening views incredible (kudos on the remodel/design as well!) and when they were in sync on service...which was more often than not...fabulous. Have a drink, enjoy some fabulous sushi and rejoice in the beautiful views of the city (and live music on some eves :)
Back to the hotel....super clean, super comfy, and great humans. We felt at home the entire time, this was true five star service...real people, really caring - and you know it's a fab place when you feel sad to leave.
Thank you to everyone, from valet, to concierge, to reception, to housekeeping, to...every point of interaction...We cannot wait to come back!
(and Anantara team, Meira, says hi!!! She can't wait to see her besties again soon! :)
And if you've read this far, wondering if you should book, do it and have a fabulous...
