I stayed at the Sheraton Nice Airport for one night in September 2024.
The room was good (4), the location was perfect (5), and the service was okay (3) except for long check-in/out and a billing issue. My overall rating is a 4, but if you heavily use the common rooms, conference rooms, courtyard, or the pool or bar on the rooftop, I can see how you might rate it a 5.
My United flight was canceled two days in a row so United put me up at the nearby Radisson for one night and the Sheraton for the other night. During the first night, I wished I was at the Sheraton but on the second night, after actually seeing the Sheraton, I was wishing I was back at the Radisson. The two are fairly comparable, with the Radisson having better rooms but the Sheraton having better amenities and a slightly better location.
I was disappointed by my room. I was expecting a room worthy of a 5. The room was okay (still a solid 4) but I was expecting it to be bigger, newer, and more lavish. The room was definitely showing its age with old stains, scratches, and dents on the walls and the bench cushion. I also wished for more table/desk space. The toilet was awkwardly positioned right behind the door. The view was okay (pic included).
The hallway walls showed a lot of wear and tear with various stains. And each time entering the halls it smelled like cigarette smoke.
The lobby, staircase (with blue lighting), upstairs common area, and the bar/restaurant were all modern, stylish, and visually impressive. I particularly liked the artwork in the restaurant (image included). I also liked how each table had a small, unique plant. If felt like the Sheraton spent a large part of its budget lavishly decorating the common areas and decided to skimp on maintaining the rooms instead!
During the day, you can spend time in the courtyard, or at the magnificent pool on the roof, which comes with great views (pic included). At night on the rooftop, you can relax at the bar and get nice nighttime views of the airport area.
Breakfast was fine but average. Dinner was good but expensive. I thought the mousse (raspberry & passionfruit) was delicious.
Service was generally fine except for two things:
Check-in took a long time as they had to try to find an available room. Check-out was even worse. There were two receptionists and they took a long time to help each customer (1 each). There were 5 people in front of me in line and 5 people behind. I had to make my flight and didn't have time to wait, so I just left my key cards (and room number) at the front desk and left.
United was supposed to cover my dinner but didn't specify a limit. At check-in, the Sheraton employee confirmed dinner was covered but didn't mention a limit. When I mentioned the situation to my waiter, they said to put it on my room and didn't mention a limit. Apparently it was a 40 euro limit (I spent 43 euros). The full 43 euro charge was charged to my credit card. It took 4 days to get a response from the hotel. They said the charge was incorrectly applied and they'd refund 40 euros, but I'd have to complain to United about the 3 euro difference. Annoying but okay. The United and Sheraton employees should have been trained about the 40 euro limit and mentioned it to the customer.
The Sheraton is literally the closest hotel to the airport (there is a shorter walking route than what Google Maps shows). You can easily walk to the terminals in 5-7 minutes. More transportation details in the Walkability and Nearby Activities sections.
Sheraton did give me Marriott points and night credit for the stay paid my United. Radisson said that the stay was ineligible for points.
The Sheraton has a better and bigger pool (on the roof), good conference rooms, nice views from the rooftop bar, a slightly closer location, and is more photogenic. Nonetheless, I would still choose the Radisson over the Sheraton because of the better rooms. And both are far better than the nearby Holiday Inn Express Nice - Grand Arenas or the farther Best Western Hotel Journel Aéroport- St...
Read moreSheraton Nice Airport is a nice, clean hotel with one of the best room layouts I've seen in my many, many years of travel. We stayed there the night before our return trip to the US. We pretty much transferred here from our other hotel before going out for a little last minute sightseeing. As such, we arrived early, and they were able to accommodate our early arrival.||At check in, I had reserved a room with club access, but the person checking me in kept telling me that club access did not come with my status (which I know). It took more than a few minutes and a chat with the senior person on duty for her to understand that I actually booked the access. Other than that, check in was good.|Our room was a Junior Suite with Balcony - While it is a long stretch to call it a suite (it was more of a studio at best), it had a very nice layout for a business room. It was one, larger room with a king bed and a couch at the end of the bed. In front of the couch was a coffee table with a chair to the side. Opposite was a long bench with cushioning at one end and a hard surface for a suitcase at another. Opposite the cushioned end was a cafe table and another chair. There were 2 wardrobes with hanging and drawer storage in the room, as well as a minibar area with a coffee maker and fridge. The bathroom was spacious and had a shower. The "city view" we had was that of an office building about 30 meters away - mot great for privacy or view. The balcony was about 1 meter wide, but ran the length of the room and had a couple of chairs on it. It was lovely if for the view. Normally I would have liked an upgrade to the sea view (none was offered, or even considered even though I have status) but this time, with the heat, the shade of the other buildings was welcome.||After check in we went to the lounge - it is unattended and was an utter mess. We got there towards the end (but still within) serving time and there was little to eat and all tables had used dishes on them. Given how quiet it was, and that it was in the middle of the day, those dirty dishes had been sitting there for a while. We had planned to return for evening snacks or breakfast, but grabbed a few beverages and decided not to return. It was a complete disappointment, and something I have not seen in all my travels at such an otherwise clean hotel.||I did still have a car and parked in their underground garage. It was clean and super convenient. The garage appeared to go under all of the office buildings there, so it was a bit of a drive to get to Sheraton parking, but the route was well marked.||It was a breeze to get to the airport - just walk about 1/2 block to the crosswalk, cross Promenade des Alglais, and after a small but well marked bridge over some access ramps we were at the tram station. Super easy, but none is under cover, so bring an umbrella if it's raining.||We had dinner at the restaurant the night we stayed there, and the food was average at best and the service terrible. It took an act of God to get a server to pay attention to us. I had to move my own dirty dishes to another table to enjoy some time relaxing after dinner before we left. and we would up sitting there unattended for way too long. Again, we did not return for breakfast but chose the airport food over this.||To be clear, I would have given this 4 stars for the hotel itself, it was the staff that caused me to...
Read moreConvenient and Comfortable Stay at Sheraton Nice Airport
As a seasoned traveler who has visited 35 countries and over 90 cities, I approach hotel stays with a keen eye for detail and a wealth of comparative experiences. My recent stay at the Sheraton Nice Airport as a Gold Elite member of the Marriott Bonvoy program was largely positive, reflecting the quality I’ve come to expect from the brand.
Location & Accessibility (5/5): The hotel’s proximity to Terminal 1 is extremely convenient, requiring just a five-minute walk. For those looking to explore, Nice City Center is accessible via a short Uber ride or a 30-minute journey by TER train, making the hotel a strategic choice for both transit and leisure travelers.
Room Comfort & Amenities (4/5): The room was well-equipped for comfort and work, with a decent table and chair setup conducive to those needing a quiet workspace. The inclusion of a Nespresso machine and kettle was appreciated, though the empty mini-bar was a miss. Daily replenishments of complimentary water and coffee by attentive housekeeping staff were a welcome touch.
Guest Service & Experience (5/5): The reception experience was exceptional. The staff recognized my Gold Elite status promptly, offering an early check-in at 11:00 AM and a room upgrade as a member benefit, which set a hospitable tone for the stay.
Breakfast & Dining (3/5): While the breakfast offerings were sufficient, the lack of English descriptions for food items was a notable oversight for an international airport hotel, reflecting a potential area for improvement in catering to a global clientele.
Facilities & Extras (4/5): The bathroom was equipped with fixed amenities from Gilchrist & Soames, ensuring a quality experience. The hotel’s decision to provide information solely through the TV was less helpful; the inclusion of a booklet or a QR code linked to a website would better meet the needs of various guests.
Internet Connectivity (5/5): The WiFi service was excellent, boasting speeds of up to 100 Mbps, which significantly enhanced my ability to work efficiently and stay connected during my stay.
In conclusion, the Sheraton Nice Airport offers a very comfortable and convenient stay, especially for those traveling through Nice Airport. With some minor improvements in guest communication and dining options, it could further enhance its appeal to international travelers. Overall, it’s a solid choice for anyone seeking reliability and convenience in...
