My recent stay at this hotel was one of the most distressing travel experiences I have ever had.
The most alarming aspect of my stay was hotel’s failure to respond to a potentially dangerous situation. On the very first evening, we noticed a strong smell of cigarette smoke in the corridor outside our room. At first, we thought it was an isolated incident, but it quickly became clear that the smell was constant and intensified during the evening and night hours. The source of the smoke was a neighboring guest who smoked at the room adjacent to ours. This caused smoke to fill the hallway and even drift into our room. Opening the window was not an option, because the smoke immediately entered our room from the outside (guest smoking at the window sill).
This situation was not only unpleasant but also potentially hazardous. Even more concerning was the fact that our room appeared to have no visible smoke detectors or sprinkler system. Every night, we went to sleep anxious about the possibility of a fire breaking out and whether we would have enough time to evacuate safely.
Naturally, we reported the issue to the hotel staff. Unfortunately, the reaction we received was shockingly inadequate. Despite making 2 reports, 2 days in a row, at the reception—no real action was taken for two days to locate the person responsible and enforce the no-smoking policy. Even worse, instead of acknowledging the seriousness of the situation, the receptionist accused me of having “unrealistic expectations” for assuming that the hotel staff would check whether anyone was smoking inside the building.
The most absurd and frustrating moment came when the receptionist suggested that the “solution” to the problem was for us to move to a different room on another floor—so that we would no longer breathe the smoke—rather than dealing with the guest who was breaking the rules. In other words, the hotel’s approach was to relocate the victim of the problem, rather than resolving the cause of the problem itself. This attitude made me feel not only ignored but also humiliated. It is the hotel’s basic responsibility to ensure that all guests can stay in a safe, smoke-free environment.
The combination of smoke exposure, the lack of visible fire safety equipment, and the staff’s refusal to take appropriate action created an environment in which we genuinely feared for our safety.
Beyond the safety concerns, I must also mention the poor condition of the room. The bathroom had visible mold in the corners of the shower, which suggests insufficient cleaning and maintenance. The furniture was old, scratched, and generally worn-out, giving the impression that the room had not been renovated or properly refreshed for a very long time. However, these issues, though unpleasant, were secondary compared to the sense of danger and the lack of adequate staff response to the fire hazard.
In summary, this stay was not merely disappointing – it was frightening. I have stayed in many hotels around the world, and never before have I encountered such a blatant disregard for basic safety procedures and such dismissive treatment of guest concerns. Rather than reassure us and take action, the staff minimized the situation, failed to enforce the hotel’s own rules, and essentially told us to adapt to the problem instead...
Read moreThe apartment is spacious, clean and has a lot of the bits and pieces you would need for a short stay with kids (cutlery, plates, cups, pots etc). They looked very good quality and clean. Although, an oven and a toaster would be needed, it only has a stove, sink, microwave and kettle from the small appliances you would use. (The toaster in the breakfast room was broken). Also, just 2 toilet papers in the toilet, if you needed more for the stay you would have, which for us was longer than just one night, you would have to go at reception and ask for more (awkward moment i'd say. ..)
Our not so nice experience is linked with the lack of hospitality of the lady that was preparing breakfast. Breakfast is served from 7-10 am in a very crowded room, with few options i would say for the 14 euros paid for it. But that was not necesarily a problem. In one of the mornings we arrived at 9:30, as we were traveling with our 2 daugthers - 9 and 5 years old. In the moment we entered the room were breakfast was served-very crowded, 3 tables with 4 chairs, and 4 tables with 2 chairs very close to the serving area (there was no table with 4 chairs available)- the lady looked at us, said and signed "at 10 is finished". There were very little products left to serve, and they were not replenished. Just 5 slices of bread left, and no ham left. There was half of the cheese tray full, but she took it the moment we sat down, and placed it in her near by cleaning room. One glass of milk left, no fruits...and we had to stay at one of the small tables( that was at half a metre apart from the serving table) because groups of 2 people have taken the 4 chairs bigger tables. And the lady was litterally sitting there in our feet, reminding us that in 30 min it's finished, and kept on taking items from the serving table. We finished in 15 min, it was not very much to eat left there anyways, but the attitude and lack of hospitality she has shown was very unprofessional and disrespectful. The coffee tasted very bad as well, and there was no coffee machine in the rooms as advertised on the website.
We checked out, after having to get all the trash in the apartment from all the bins (just 2 there anyway-one in the halway, and one in the toilet room, no bin next to the small kitchen, nor in the big bathroom) and placing it somewhere at a different floor.
As an advice, for the money customers are paying, leave the cleaning to the hotel, and get a bigger breakfast room, with more options to chose for, a toaster working, and a nice lady that welcomes, and helps to greet and sit the groups at the tables according to their numbers, and does not act like a clock-reminding customers of how many min they have left to eat, what she has already taken from the serving table...because probably at 10 o'clock sharp she planned to have everything stocked and cleaned so that she can be gone. The customers paid for that and if the breakfast is said to be served till 10 o'clock, let it be SERVED till that time, and provide what...
Read moreWhen you enter the hotel, staff at the reception is very friendly and helped us, when we had some concerns. Near the reception, they offer sometimes sweets and drinks for free and this place is nicely decorated :-)! WIFI was working well during our whole stay. BUT there were MANY negative issues – we will not come back:
the smell in the room was awful, it is like a wet unwashed dog hiding behind the curtains!! when activating the air-condition, this awful smell was so much aggravated that we could not stand it at all (unfortunately it was very hot weather), in fear of bacterial contamination we never used the air-condition again lights in the bathroom and in the fridge did not work (which was then partly repaired, the technician was also very nice), the bathtub was blocked so when taking a shower you felt like being in a river the second day, we could not enter the room with our key, a technician had to come to open the door, this happened again after one week…. slatted frame was lacking of slats, so we fell like into a hole in the middle of the so called bed.. door handles almost fell off the cupboards 2 out of 4 hotplates did not work in the kitchen 3 teaspoons for 4 people was quite tough The worst thing was the room cleaning. We stayed for 2 weeks! After three days, I asked for a vacuum cleaner but it was not available. So we waited for the cleaning after 1 week and when we returned to the room we could not believe our eyes. The sheets were not changed, underneath the table, where it was quite dirty because of breadcrumbs etc., they did not clean at all! I spotted two cleaning ladies in the corridor and asked for a new sheet and changed it by myself. When I asked them to come to my room, they simply said “no” – so I had to go to the responsible lady for the rooms who came to the room and confirmed that it was badly cleaned. She walked around with her shoes in every room (also the bathroom) and shouted “There are hairs everywhere, I am fed up with the guy who made up the room”. Eventually, the two cleaning ladies, who initially refused to come, were called and they passed the vacuum cleaner underneath the table and the other rooms. When they finished, they made a smug remark: “Is it clean enough now for you?”. Even the responsible for the rooms was shocked by their inappropriate behavior. after one week, people in the room above were so noisy, moving chairs and desks all the time even at 2.30 in the morning. It was horrible and when the staff of the reception intervened they denied to move furniture around… We were aware that for low budget we cannot expect a lot but the above mentioned issues were too much. We will not come back to this...
