The residency itself is good given it’s location, price per room, and the meal services. However, the employees here take pride in barely doing their jobs and don’t care at all about your satisfaction or ease of daily life. For some reason the year I arrived here they decided to stop letting girls move from double rooms to single rooms, so if you’re like me who planned to study their whole degree here and you get stuck with a roommate, there’s no chance you get moved to a single in all two or three years you stay. Additionally, I was placed in a tiny room on the top floor of a building with windows barley the size of my arm and we still had to pay the same amount as girls who had rooms twice the size. Most girls have rooms with large windows so being stuck in a room with barley any light or fresh air is quite depressing especially during the winter months. When I made my request to change rooms I was told by the director that they no longer do this because they don’t want to do the cleaning of the room after you leave and it’s “too much work for the staff”. I was extremely shocked by this statement as when I arrived in my room there was dust covering every surface and I spent an hour cleaning before I could set up my room. Also, there is a €40 réinscription fee which I find ironic as we’re basically paying to NOT have our applications handled a second time, which would be the case should they start the process to change you into a single room. Any problems you have are met by an attitude of “we’re too busy, it’s not our problem, it’s not our fault”. The showers are covered with mold, the stairs in most buildings are dangerously worn and warped, and the toilets are a state by themselves. None of us could understand why they spent so much time and money cleaning the bricks on the outside of the buildings when the insides of the buildings are practically falling apart. If however you’re lucky enough to get a single room in one of the newer buildings, your experience will be quite lovey. The rest of the girls are welcoming and the resi is in the perfect area of Paris for anything you...
Read moreThis foyer legitimately destroyed my mental and physical health. The residents here are amazing, and this is absolutely NOT their fault. The environment is deeply sexist, paternalistic, homophobic, and hostile. I urge any queer people who are considering staying here to look for other housing. After they found out I was a lesbian dating a tr@ns woman, the foyer director and co-director proceeded to target me, sending me letters, sending a man into my room without warning, shaming me for depression symptoms, and intimidating out of using common spaces. I have food allergies, so I was unable to eat any of the provided food, and they were completely unwilling to accommodate me or even refund me for the cost of meals. The foyer itself was also unlivable: there were mice everywhere, both bathrooms on my floor were broken, there were regular fires, none of the smoke detectors worked, and the sinks were broken in the kitchen. There are fridges that are kept at unsafe temperatures, and none of the foyer is remotely accessible if you're sick. I was very very grateful for the two staff who were kind to me, both have since left, but the hurtful behavior of the director and co-director were really difficult as an international student. Please do...
