This hotel just re-opened after a 10 month long renovation so everything is fresh though it is an historic property. We stayed for 8 nights in mid September and felt we made the right choice. Paris is full of hotel options and, with so many neighborhoods, it is a little daunting to select the one that would best suit your style of travel. Luckily I had been to Paris one other time nearly 30 years ago........that previous visit helped immensely as I am not sure I would have considered ile Saint-Louis otherwise and we would have missed out. ile Saint-Louis is like a French village dropped in the middle of Paris. The fact that it is an island on the Seine gives it a feel that is hard to describe but very real to experience. Hotel de Lutece was the perfect home base. Apparently others felt that way too as we met multiple couples staying there for their 6th, or even 30th in one case, visit. Rooms are small by American standards of course but roomy enough. The bed was extremely comfortable, the A/C works great, and the entire place is immaculately kept. They offer a tasty breakfast and a nice lobby sitting area where you can unwind after a full day in Paris and you are likely to meet some interesting travelers that will enrich your stay. Finally, the multi-lingual staff are terrific and make it their mission for you to have a wonderful Paris experience.......You can leave Paris but it will never leave you!

The location remains the best in Paris (for us) ~ on the nearly-always quiet island, wonderful food choices nearby~ the Brasseries, the gelatos, crepes, cafes … the Fromage Museum was fun ~ and just a block from the River. That said, the hotel is becoming rundown since our 1st stay in 2002. It’s a very old (charming & lovely) building, but the common areas need a bit of love. Room was spotless, bedding is dreamy, and for Paris, the room is spacious. The service was hit or miss ~ the porter was very kind, and he had to carry our luggage up the stairs, as the elevator was broken when we arrived (and remains out of order on our 3rd day). But breakfast “monitor”/chef on 1st day was ~ not impressive. Left the used tables un-cleared, wasn’t too friendly, and I had to go to her to request anything I needed - quite underwhelming? But the gentleman on 2nd day was cheerful & efficient, and made better cappuccino & eggs than she had. :-) And so, all told & overall ~ not what we had become so accustomed to & fond of, and we think maybe a change could be in order for our next stay. At this price point, it would be lovely for the Hotel Lutèce to become again the gem it was in years past. We remain hopeful!

We rented a top floor room for one night. Gorgeous historical building with lots of character. Great view of the rooftops from our room, and the room was more spacious than we expected. We did have to carry our bags up 1 flight of stairs as the elevator only went up the first 5 floors. We interacted with 3 different front desk staff members during our stay; 2 of the 3 were nice and helpful. One said it was no problem to store our bags in the lobby to do some sightseeing the next day, and the other helped us to call for a taxi when leaving and chatted with us. The 3rd staff member was a bit rude about a rule that was not explained to us by the previous staff member (must leave room key at desk when leaving for the day), and she was visibly annoyed about the number of bags we were going to have held (2 suitcases and 2 backpacks). FYI bags are simply stored out of the way in the small lobby, not locked in a room. We felt that they were safe there. I feel that our overall experience was wonderful, and the location of the hotel on the Ile Saint-Louis is great, being on a charming and quaint street with lots of shops and food nearby.

We arrived at the hotel on August 22 for a 2 night stay. Because my wife has mobility issues, the availability of an elevator was paramount. Upon arrival, we were informed that the elevator was out of service with no indication it would be repaired during our stay. We were advised by staff that the elevator had gone out of stay at least several days before our arrival. Despite this fact, the hotel made no attempt to advise us of this fact prior to our arrival so that we could make alternate arrangements. We were clearly unable to occupy the room we had reserved on one of the higher floors and were offered a less desirable room on the hotel 1st floor (which is the second floor in the USA). Given the last minute notice, we did not feel we could obtain suitable alternate lodgings. While the hotel did transport our luggage to the room, my wife was required to negotiate a flight of stairs each time she entered or exited the room, causing great discomfort and inconvenience. I cannot recommend this hotel for two reasons: 1. I feel the hotel was obligated to give its guests advance notice of the elevator so that they could choose, if desired, to make alternate hotel arrangements. Other comments on this site indicate that, even after our departure, the hotel failed to give such notice. 2. the hotel offered absolutely no reimbursement although I later learned that another guest had been given a rate reduction. The reimbursement should have been offered to every guest without question. While the staff we encountered were friendly, they seemed to have no authority to deal with the situation. Under the circumstances it is impossible for me to give this hotel a positive...

Zero Stars. Rip Off scheme. I reserved a room for this May 2025 in mid 2024. This reservation was made through the hotel’s website portal. The rates stipulated that the reservation needed to be cancelled by two weeks before arrival date to not be charged. About a month later I submitted a cancellation request through the website portal. I received a message instantly that the request had been ‘successfully’ submitted . Plans had changed. I thought that should have ended the matter. After a few months of not hearing anything more I decided to submit another cancellation request, again through the hotel’s own website. Again I received an instant reply that the request was successfully submitted. ||Two weeks to the day before the original reservation date I received a notice from my credit card company that the full amount of the original reservation price ( over $2000 US) was charged to my account. I immediately telephoned the hotel. The person answering the call said he could not address this issue. I needed to submit another cancellation request email request, or call the next morning after 7:00 am to speak with his manager. I sent the email explaining the sequence of events to the hotel email listed on their website. I also telephoned the next morning but was told the manager was not available and would not be available until that afternoon. I then received a response to my email requesting reconciliation for the fraudulent charges made to my credit card. The email simply stated that I had somehow not complied with their reservation rules, and nothing could be done. Then my updated credit card statement came up saying the whole amount ($2000+) had...
