I came here with my family, (including two kids). Summer 2025, our stay started on June 27 around 8pm and was suppose to last till July 2nd. The few positive things about the “hotel” are: the location, some of the front desk personnel and the breakfast room staff. However the ad things are unacceptable and I would say they are clear fraud given the way they are described in the webpage, be very careful with this establishment and if you have time keep reading.
We booked our room in a 4 star hotel using Amex Travel. Our room description, booked mi that in advance, was described as having AC and elevator. When we arrived we were told there is no elevator and we were assigned a room in the second floor (third floor for my fellow Americans) with no stairs. In addition no AC in the room. We had 3 fans and 1 portable AC, which you can’t move cause it needs to be close to the chimney to get the exhausted air out the room. The room is really an apartment, with signs that read the guests should take out the garbage and will be charged for cleaning service if needed; there were also cleaning products below the sink and other guests clothes left in one of the closets.
It was late that night and with kids and a trip behind we did not want to have a discussion with the front desk at that time, that was Friday night. On Saturday morning we talked to the front desk and the lady there told us there are other rooms with AC in the renovated part of the hotel but they had no availability to change us there, also, they told us that the only other family suite in the renovated section does not have AC either; then she asked us to talk to management on Monday, since they weee unreachable over that weekend.
Even google maps, booking.com and Amex travel show this hotel with a checkmark in the AC filters.
Sleeping was extremely uncomfortable.
We stayed there for 4 nights which felt forever. We as a family decided to try to enjoy our vacation, given the busy week , all the hotels around did not have availability for those days.
On Monday night the portable AC stopped working and we reported to front desk, we were told they will fix it the day before and offer an additional fan. On Tuesday after arriving from breakfast, maintenance staff was in our room fixing the TV for something we did not ask to fix, we did not use the tv, they told us they were doing that cause future guests might want to watch tv in English (I have no idea why they decided to do it during our stay) but we weee fine because they brought a new portable AC.
Minutes later the manager of the property knocked our door and ask me for permission to enter again to change something in the tv, I asked her to please come back later as we were preparing ourselves to get out again, only to be told that she needed to do it now and she entered the apartment without authorization, in top of that as she got in she said we took all the fans off the property and then I said of course we needed because there are no AC. This lady is a very rude person and started talking and blaming in French and English. After she left that is when we decided it was enough and we left on Tuesday July 1st instead of the 2nd.
We had already had an experience with her during check in, She had her dog unleashed right in front of the front desk. When we arrived my son approached the dog to play. She never said a word until she decided that yelling at my kid asking to stop was the right decision.
That was part of our welcome experience. From there everything went down. Please be aware of all this before booking.
Their “comfortable and aesthetic” description is just another scam.
This manager person even suggested me to add a review here and that she basically didn’t care. I just can’t explain how terrible this experience.
Think about this as a cheap Airbnb instead of a 4 star hotel experience where you are only paying for a convenient location if you are...
Read moreI spent 2 nights at the Hotel du Jeu de Paume during my visit to Paris and I would definitely recommend it for a short-term stay with a central location right in the heart of the city.
The location is amazing and in under 5 minutes on foot you can reach Notre Dame and the Latin quarter.
Everywhere else is also easily accessible as there is a metro stop nearby and plenty of options for dining and small shops in the surrounding area.
As for the hotel, the property is beautiful and I really liked the historic vibe on the inside.
This is actually a family-run hotel, something fairly unique in Paris these days with all of the big chains and Airbnb's, and it was really nice to meet the owner and learn more about the history of the hotel.
I found the staff to be quite Pleasant, attentive, and very helpful when it came to any questions that I had about Paris and things to do in the area.
As for the room, I had a large room on the second floor of the hotel. I really liked the exposed brick and the large window let in plenty of natural light throughout the day. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage space for luggage.
The bathroom was also quite large and well equipped for a short-term stay with towels and all of the amenities you would need.
There is a small breakfast available at the hotel although with so many options nearby you might want to just sample a few items before heading out for something more local.
Overall, I would definitely recommend the Hotel du Jeu de Paume if you're looking for something reasonably priced with an amazing location right in the...
Read more⭐ 1-Star Review|Extremely Disappointing Experience at Hôtel du Jeu de Paume||I had a deeply disappointing experience during my recent stay at this hotel—one that should have been a minor issue but was grossly mishandled by staff and management.||A simple misunderstanding over two bottles of water (€5) turned into a confrontational and unprofessional incident, despite my offer to return the items or have them charged to my room. What should have been discreetly resolved became an escalating situation, fueled by defensive and aggressive behavior from the staff—including being physically confronted by bell staff, which is absolutely unacceptable.||Despite paying €550 per night, I was treated with suspicion and hostility rather than the respectful, attentive service any guest should expect. Management failed to take responsibility, choosing instead to deflect blame and dismiss my concerns.||Additional issues:| • Inconsistent housekeeping and lack of replenished amenities| • Staff needing repeated reminders for basic services| • Zero accountability from leadership, even after voicing concerns||After 40 years of global travel and over 2 million miles, I’ve stayed at more than a thousand hotels—and I have never encountered such immature, combative guest relations. Hospitality is about knowing when to listen, how to de-escalate, and treating guests with dignity. This hotel failed on all counts.||Unless meaningful changes are made to how staff handle conflict and customer care, I cannot recommend this hotel. There are too many wonderful places to stay in Paris—this should not be...
