#59 in my marathon through Paris Michelin Stars. So far away from the Tv show cliché
Those who follow me may have realized that I appreciate more the taste than the look. Thatâs why I prefer chef with hidden surprises, strong characters than just an Instagramable dish. To be honest, I was a bit afraid of going to a Tv contestant. So often, Tv shows tend to value look over taste and experience. Yet again, I was wrong. Like others with exotics roots (Oxte, Geaam, etcâŠ) she knows how to modulate spices to tell her story without the spices being the story. That shows skills and maturity.
But more of all, itâs beautiful and it is good! So sheâs very far from the reality Tv cliché⊠the star is clearly there for a reason The place was quiet when I was there, so itâs hard for me to judge the crowd. The place has a good and beautiful vibe, just like the food. I went for a friendly lunch, but I could have been business. The evening dinner is great for couples.
Itâs a solid one star that one should try as an alternative from the more classical haute cuisine or from the Bistronomy.
My experience : a very pleasant surprise. Clearly not the tv show contender you would think
Update 2022: Went back 12 months after. One of the very nice surprises. I appreciated it even more the second time, which is rare. I do think itâs because there were some improvement. It seems a bit more focused. Still, the management of spices is really impressive. I would go just for that. Thereâs something that reminds me of Pic (Valence).
Itâs now a very solid star
Ps: not sure why this is...
Read moreI was very disappointed by this experience and am honestly shocked that this is a Michelin star rated restaurant. The food was fine, but the dishes lacked cohesion and I was often unable to see the vision. There was one dish - a trout, that was excellent, but everything else was forgettable (the desserts all lacked sweetness, the bread was dry and flavorless, and the meat was a cheap and tough picante cut). The service was quite underwhelming - the experience took 3 hours (I believe between 2-2.5 hrs is enough time for 6 courses) and we were often unable to understand our waiter. I know this is also petty, but for $200 a meal, Iâd also argue you could include free tap water. About 3/4ths into the meal I didnât want to buy another 6 euro bottle of still water so I went to the bathroom and drank from the sink. That just felt ridiculous. As a customer, I didnât feel valued (none of the chefs gave their greeting or thanks) and the experience was no where near worth the price. I highly suggest visiting Hestia instead for incredible food, service,...
Read moreMy wife treated me to a birthday dinner at Le Faham. We opted for the four course menu, with wine pairing.
We were greeted warmly on arrival and given the option to choose an aperitif - naturally, given the occasion, we opted for a glass of champagne which was exquisite.
Throughout the meal, service was friendly and informative without being overbearing, and the explanations of each course were detailed without being too complex.
The food itself was excellent; most memorable was the crab starter and fig dessert, but the beef and seafood main courses were also fresh and tasty.
The atmosphere was good, and every seat was taken on a Thursday evening. Itâs a modern, simple and comfortable interior, perfect for focusing on the food and drink.
Of course, itâs not a budget option; but we certainly feel we had full value for money and would highly recommend Le Faham to those looking for a special evening in the 17th...
