Firstly - if you've booked this hotel then you've made a great move! Strictly speaking however - (if I could work out how to do it!) I would have given 4 1/2 stars to this hotel apart due to 2 small issues - One of them isn't a big deal really, it's just that the floors and general decoration of the walls could really do with upgrading in the bedrooms. The curtains, scuffs on paintwork, and the decor of the bathroom is pretty tired. I felt it was all clean though so this wasn't a big problem. The other issue which was a problem for me was the fact that the shower was pretty small, old-fashioned and had a very annoying shower curtain. |However - these issues will definitely not stop me from returning to this fantastic hotel. I just felt so welcome at all times by all the staff I met. They were always willing to help and advise when asked. Although the bedrooms are a bit tired, the communal areas and breakfast room are really smart, and have a chic boutique feel. I also loved the old shutters on my bedroom window. If they could renovate the bedrooms to match up to the breakfast room and the boutique feel it would be really something. However part of me hopes they don't spend too much money on it so I can afford to go back! Personally I really liked the area around the hotel. It's nice I find become part of the city and not just live in the tourist hotspots when travelling. I enjoyed getting on the Metro with the locals and I found it to be a very safe friendly area and I was always in the centre of Paris within 20-25 minutes. There is a monoprix supermarket round the corner and a great boulangerie and a cheap modern clean laundry, as well as several great cafes/restaurants.|It really is only two minutes to the nearest Metro (Pelleport) and whilst this particular line involves changing a few times I really didn't mind. The Paris Metro is really very easy once you get the hang of it. I downloaded a fantastic app which helped me enormously on my phone. If you didn't want to fiddle around changing lines the Gambetta metro stop is only five minutes walk from the hotel and is on a more major route. |I've had such a good trip to Paris and staying at the Hotel Vingt was very much part of it, so please excuse enthusiasm - The shower was only three-star, but the overall experience was definitely five star! Thank you to a...
Read moreThis hotel is located in the 20e, a short walk from Gambetta Metro station. We stayed for one night and the staff are wonderful - incredibly friendly and helpful. They offered us advice on restaurants, transport and things to see without us even having to ask. It’s in a nice residential neighbourhood that’s easily accessible to the rest of Paris.||||This is a small hotel, and could do with some renovation works. It is cheap for Paris, but at 75 Euro a night it might not be the best value. The bed in our room was very comfortable, but the whole room really needed to be completely redecorated. The bathroom just has a shower cubicle (no bathtub) and was also rather shabby. The hotel does have an elevator, but it is very, very small. You couldn’t get more than one or two people at a time in there, especially if you have luggage. But an elevator is a rarity in these older type of buildings in Paris anyway, so it’s better than nothing if mobility needs require it.||||We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so I can’t comment on that, but we were disappointed that there was no free WiFi. This really is a standard requirement in all hotels these days.||||It’s a perfectly adequate place to sleep - who wants to spend all of their time in their room when there’s so much to see in Paris?! I’d say that it’s fine for a couple of friends backpacking or on a city break, but certainly not for a honeymoon or special occasion! The hotel is also very close to Pere Lachaise, which is definitely...
Read moreEasy access to the Pere Lachaise and the Butte Chamont parc but the area was nothing spectacular from what I could see. I thought it would be a change from Montmartre and it was good to try a different area but found it was a bit out of the way from areas I enjoy exploring early morning i.e. Montmartre; St. Germain; along the Seine etc. Some Ok cafes and brasserie but the main roads can be very busy and noisy. The hotel experience was quite disappointing, upon arrival the reception looked great and new so thought the rooms would be pleasant too. Our room looked dirty (the walls, floor and seats) but clean bedsheets and bathroom (although I don't stay in Paris for a hotel, it's nice to have somewhere relatively cosy and charming to go back to at the end of the day). The street was relatively quiet but noisy from time to time, it's off a main road and residential. ||||On our first night, having arrived after 11pm we were awoken at 4am by a fire alarm, only to discover the nigh receptionist had only burnt some toast. We had an apology but would have appreciated a complementary breakfast or something. On our check out day we decided to go for a walk in the area for a couple of hours during the early morning and the manager seemed quite aloof with us that we didn't want to clear out our room already even though check out wasn't until midday. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The area is ok and worth an explore but I wouldn't stay...
