Overall Rating: 86/110 - 7.8/10||Class of Room Booked: Deluxe 2 Double|Class of Room Stayed: Deluxe 2 Double|Price per night (with taxes): $1200 - but this included park tickets for stay+1 day||The Quick Hits:||Would I stay here again? Yes, but not likely in this class of room (see notes)|Value rating based on price paid: Fair||The Details:||Hotel Design Location and Layout:||Location (9/10 – Exceeded Expectations) – There is one main reason to stay here. To enter Disneyland Paris you literally walk under the hotel. You cannot get any closer. From lobby to dedicated park entrance is 3 minute walk, about 8-10 min to Studios. One thing I did not realize is that most if not all hotels and Disney Village are within the 'security bubble' meaning no additional bag checks unless you leave. Train station is about 6 min walk - 15 if you arrive after parks have closed and need to make your way to parking,||Hotel Lobby/Common Areas(8/10 – Exceeded Expectations) – The lobby is grand and welcoming, with a comfortable noise level. Upon close-up look, the fake books on the walls look REALLY fake, but there is lot of good art to offset that. Everything is cleaned constantly. Worth noting, because of the way the hotel is set up over the park entrance, it can be a LONG walk involving two elevators or stairs to rooms in the West Wing (as the crossover bridge is on level 2).||Hotel Amenities(8/10 – Met expectations) – I'll address this also under dining, but the hotel is lacking in certain key areas. There is a very nice covered pool, a spa (didn't use) a gift shop (hold that thought) and Royal Boutique (dress-up). However, the gift shop does not carry any sundries at all, which can be problematic if you forget something. I didn't see any available in Disney Village or the Parks either. The front desk can provide basics, but if you need more than that you are out of luck.||On the plus side, the hotel offers things like random Princess appearances in the lobby, plus the ability to schedule a free short meet and greet, which is a giant plus when lines for the Princess Pavilion in the park can reach 3 hours (you do not get to select a Princess tho as far as I know).||Room:||Design and Layout (9/10 – Exceeded expectations) – The Deluxe rooms are a standard room plus a few special effect touches (which are nice) - plenty of space and the chairs that also serve as benches on end of bed allow for some flexibility. Lots of storage. Rooms are midly themed to different Princesses, with art and subtle elements in the carpet pattern.||ACCESSIBILITY ALERT - the step up into the shower/tub was VERY high, and a little treacherous getting out. For those with mobility issues that do not normally need an accessible room, this can be a concern.||Comfort(9/10 – Exceeded expectations) – All of the beds and chairs were very comfortable, the climate control worked well. Water pressure and temp control in the shower were quite good.||Condition(8.5/10 – Met Expectations) – A few nicks and scratches but otherwise in top shape (expectations are high since hotel has only been open a few months)||Amenities(8/10 – Met Expectations) – Higher quality bulk bathroom amenities did the job plus smaller amenities, comb, etc. Robes, slippers, umbrellas provided. A small selection of snacks and drinks are provisioned once and -not- replenished. Extensive coffee/tea/cocoa supplies are provided (single cup brewer and kettle). USB ports are located on the writing desk and on bedside tables, bring a charger for more than a couple of devices.||Staff:||Front Desk/Service(5/10 – Did not meet expectations) – This is a tale of three areas. Check-in at the deluxe desk was fine, quick, efficient and friendly. Luggage staff was also nice and polite and very efficient. Concierge was an issue - they were brusque, inflexible and at times downright dismissive. The hotel was alerted to the specific issue we had, but at all times it seemed like requests at their desk were intrusions. ||Housekeeping (9/10 - Met Expectations) - In contrast to concierge, the housekeeping staff was wonderful. Friendly, did a great job and seemed to be having fun. We came back early one day to take a break and they were in the room. We were happy to come back and they insisted we go to a sitting area nearby and they would get us when done and then proceeded to team up and finish the room in double time, without missing anything. ||Other Staff ( - Greatly Exceeded Expectations) - NA |||Food Service:||Paid Dining:||Restaurant/Cafe (6/10 - Met Expectations - points deducted for lack of options) – There are two restaurants on site. One is high end French character dining, the other is a high end character dining buffet. There is also a bar. That's it. If you don't want to pay VERY high prices (dinner buffet is 100 euros - per person and sit down is about the same or more) you have no choice but room service or to leave the hotel. The fact that in France you can't get a simple cafe et croissant easily is not something I can understand. In fact, you can't get ANYTHING to eat other than full meals in the hotel, not even a bag of chips or a bottle of soda to bring back to the room.||We had dinner at the Buffet, price aside, the food was very high quality and good variety, and the Character interactions were excellent. Fellow diners, not so much, crowding the buffet line as if they hadn't eaten that day (admittedly at food pricing and lack of casual options, they may not have).||Room Service(- Expectations) - Did not use.||Complimentary Dining:||Breakfast ( - Expectations) - None available - buffet is included with breakfast rate/half board. ||Club/Executive Lounge (if Applicable) (7/10 - Met Expectations) - The Deluxe lounge is available in the morning for breakfast and in the afternoon for a very extensive tea time. Drinks are available while open. ||People used to lounges in the US hotels will find a much larger variety of food when available, but much less availability time wise. There is no evening food option. In addition, while soft drinks and many hot drinks are free, alcoholic options are generally not. Drinks are served open, I did not ask about bringing some back to room as we had planned ahead and brought some from lounge at prior hotel.||Other Areas:||Special Perks(bonus points) - I counted it above, but the random Princess encounters in the lobby are really something special and add a lot to the hotel. ||Other:||Family Friendly: It's Disney.||Pet Friendly: Unknown||Notes/Summary:||To address a few things. I'd happily stay here again, despite some issues, but probably not in the same class of room. This is no aspersions on the room itself or on the lounge, but the premium. At the time we booked, the Deluxe rooms were around $300 per night above standard and the additives are just not worth it, especially with the more limited hours for food. But you cannot beat the location.||If you are using a scooter or are mobility challenged, request a room on level 2 if in the Deluxe wing to avoid one set of elevators when coming in and out. The hotel really needs to add an entry/exit point on the west wing side.||About my system - All scores are based on expectations, where 7.5 = met expectations, 10 is highly exceeded, and 1, well, something went horribly wrong. Expectations take into account a number of factors, such as price paid, brand, and location. They will vary greatly from the Waldorf Astoria to a Super 8. All scores are averaged and translated to a score out of 10. 1 Trip Advisor dot applies for each 2 points, so 4 dots is the most...
Read moreHere’s my honest review of DLH. Hope others find it useful. I have stayed in this hotel multiple times in the past (pre renovation). This was our first time since it reopened in January 2024. We visit DLP 2-3 times a year.
Things I loved: Check in - The convenience of the room key being on my phone and the hotel texting me the room number when it was ready. Saved queueing at reception to check in when we arrived and meant we could go straight into the parks. Special request - I made a special request for an East side location and a Tangled theme room. The hotel accommodated these. Location - You can’t beat the convenience of the hotel’s location and the easy of getting in the park via the hotel’s guest entrance. Evening treats - The little stories and candy placed in our room at night by housekeeping was a nice touch. The Royal Encounter - We met one princess (twice) and it was fabulous. So attentive and warm with my kids. I liked that you could book as many as you wanted during your stay. Refurbishment - the hotel is gorgeous. Very tastefully done. Mirrors and plugs - I like to be able to sit and dry my hair at a table with a well lit mirror. Our room had a dressing table with a tangled mirror. Worked well. Also to add that there was a UK plug outlet at the desk for my hairdryer!
Things I didn’t like: Non hotel guests - The volume of non guests loitering in the reception area and wandering around in room corridors is a nightmare. We took our children back mid afternoon for a nap and there were teenage boys running up and down the hallway outside our room whilst their parents took photos of the reception chandelier. They weren’t staying in the hotel. Staff did nothing. There should be a key entry controlled door at the bedroom corridor entrances to prevent non guests wandering around like there is with the suites and castle club rooms. It’s just too accessible and it shouldn’t be. When story time was going on in the lobby and a princess would turn up, she would be mobbed by people who weren’t staying at the hotel. We tried to get a photo with Rapunzel but were forced back by non hotel guests! The reception area is like being in the park most of the time. It’s massively overcrowded and seems to be like that all day until very late in the evening. Royal Banquet - The food was very average for the money. Not lots of choice, took forever to get a drink, and the queue for food was ridiculous. The character interactions were brilliant though. We did feel however, that in the evening, this should have remained a hotel guest only dining experience as the waiting around was too lengthy. Breakfast - This was in the Royal Banquet restaurant. Food choices were limited as at dinner, queues for food were long as the serving area is quite small compared to the other Disney hotels. My boys missed the pancake making machines that were at those hotels. Did it represent good value for money? No. Housekeeping on check out day - I get that they want to get the rooms ready for the next guests, but check out isn’t until 11am. So I don’t expect someone to be knocking on my door at 8.30am, then 9am, then 9.15am and finally at 10am to ask if they can come into the room yet. We were exhausted from three days in the parks and wanted a lay in before our 8 hour drive home. I kept telling housekeeping that we would be leaving at 11am but different people kept coming back, and worse, kept letting themselves in! Bathroom - these aren’t big enough. When 5 of us are all trying to get ready in the morning, it’s chaotic. And the size isn’t in proportion to the room size. Would I stay there again? I think so because the location is perfect, especially with a child who has ADHD and needs to go back to the room throughout the day for breaks. But I think I would book a castle club room next time and would go mid week, off peak season as it’s quieter in the parks. The guests in castle club and the suites seem to have a different experience to those in a superior room which is a shame given how...
Read moreVisiting the illustrious Disney World Paris was, without a doubt, a truly enchanting experience. The park's impeccable design and captivating ambiance undoubtedly live up to Disney's lofty standards. However, it seems the excellence ends there.
We concluded our European holiday at Disney World, fervently anticipating our stay at the newly refurbished Disneyland Hotel, naturally at a staggeringly extravagant nightly rate. Alas, the additional expenses do not cease there. Even the breakfast buffet, a customary inclusion at such esteemed establishments, requires a separate and exorbitant payment.
Permit me to categorize this review into the realms of the good, the bad, and the utterly deplorable. Upon arrival, the hotel doors magically swung open, and we were immediately enveloped in a scent that can only be described as a divine amalgamation of luxury and cotton candy. The brand-new interior greeted us in all its resplendent glory, accompanied by the classic Disney scores that only serve to heighten the immersive experience. One can almost expect Cinderella or Belle to materialize around the next corner.
Yet, as we take another whiff of this heavenly aroma, we find ourselves longing, nay, expecting, a refreshing cucumber-infused water or iced tea – a staple in most esteemed 5-star establishments, one would assume. Alas, such simple pleasures are but a figment of our imagination. Not even a damp towel, infused with their (likely patented) scent, graces our presence. No, such luxuries nonexistent here!
However, as we continue to be enveloped in this illusory splendor, the cracks in the veneer begin to emerge. The check-in queues reveal the true nature of the service, which can only be described as sterile. No other word seems to capture the essence of this experience adequately. The staff, while maintaining an air of excellence, lack the charisma, helpfulness, and friendliness one would expect from one of the protégés of the Disney empire.
Inquiring about the lack of refreshments, we are directed to some elusive fountain within the premises. Alas, our search continues… Upon however finally locating the water source - the bathroom tap - we find the temperature to be a mere lukewarm, delightful for handwashing, yet hardly suitable for quenching one's thirst.
As if the dispassionate service were not enough, we are graced by the sight of numerous entitled "princesses" in tacky, garish dresses, their cries and moans echoing through the halls, demanding yet another gift or, perhaps, a lesson in proper etiquette or discipline. Weary parents, succumb to their pleas, purchasing yet another horrid accessory or three at wallet-crippling prices. Truly, one wonders if Disney has found the secret to unbridled profitability.
Now, let us delve into the truly atrocious. The rooms, while undoubtedly gorgeous, with Disney's meticulous attention to detail seamlessly interwoven into the decor, fall short in the most basic of expectations. No late afternoon or early evening refreshing of the room – a standard one would assume for an establishment of this caliber. Housekeeping staff are scarce, their presence in the corridors an elusive sight.
In summary, just as the park itself is plagued by interminable queues and an unrelenting focus on extracting every possible dollar from its visitors, the hotel experience overshadows the joy and wonder typically associated with the Disney brand. Make no mistake, it is a place of dreams – the hotel and the park – but the emphasis on visual appeal and splendor comes at the cost of genuine, attentive service. The magic slowly fades, replaced by a stark realization that the true priority lies in luring you and your children into the financial abyss, rather than ensuring a thoroughly...
