A disgrace to Disney and such a letdown from start to finish.
We had a booked for 9pm and were immediately asked if we knew there was an upgrade charge. Apparently, although we are on half board plus, you have to pay an extortionate €35per adult for an evening sitting!! I wanted to go elsewhere but with my 75yr old weary mum and an excited daughter I felt I had no other choice but to pay the ADDITIONAL €210 (note we’re a party of 8 with only 2 kids!) - why charge for the adults and not just the kids, Disney?
Not all of our party were there at check in as some were still queuing for a ride. We were told we could not go to the table without our whole party. I later discovered that we could. Why weren’t we told this in the first instance so my elderly mother could sit down?
We entered and had to pay the additional charge separately over our 3 rooms/magic passes. They wouldn’t let me pay for our whole booking in one transaction. This meant 3 transactions, 3 times as long, and of course flagged as fraudulent with my bank!
We were then asked (still standing by the till at this point) what we would like to drink, soft drinks are included. We ordered these and I enquired about wine. I was told to order this at the table and pay on exit, made sense as we have done this in all other Disney restaurants thus far.
Got to the table, asked to order wine, was told I had to go to the till. Needless to say at this point I was not happy, off I go back to the till. Why do you have to order drinks at the till and not from your seat? This is meant to be a restaurant not a self service counter!!! I had to go back to the till later to order a pay for a coffee too!! Not good restaurant service at all.
The food was okay, but not great and no where near as nice as the Hunters Grill buffet. Not much choice for kids and you could tell they were winding down for the evening as most of the food was cold. The garlic potatoes had no sight of garlic and were hard and dry like cardboard. The mussels were tasty but cold. Pork looked and tasted like it had been there for days. The desserts were very nice.
They closed off one side of the buffet just after I got my starter, and it was made very clear we had to be out by 10.30 as they were closing!! Considering it was 9.30pm before we actually got seated, an hour felt very rushed.
The characters were great and my daughter loved these.
All in all, save yourself €35 per person, eat somewhere else and see characters somewhere else.
As a party of 8 and here for 5 days we have had some lovely meals, but this was a massive...
Read moreThe Plaza Gardens Restaurant at Disneyland Paris promises a magical buffet experience, but unfortunately falls far short of expectations. Despite the charming Victorian atmosphere and the central location in the park, the overall picture here is disappointing. Buffet and food quality The buffet is overcrowded and chaotic. The quality of the food is average at best. The rush for the salmon was particularly noticeable, giving the impression that guests were desperately trying to meet the high price. The undercooked eggs are also to be criticized - a preparation deficiency that was apparently not remedied due to time constraints and limited capacity (only six holding spoons). Service and drinks The service was overwhelmed but motivated. After just 17 minutes, the coffee had already run out and none of the machines were producing refills. This is unacceptable for a restaurant of this price range and size. Value for money At 190 euros for three adults and one child, the value for money is extremely questionable. The limited meal time of one hour reinforces the impression that the focus here is more on quantity than on quality and enjoyment. Sanitary facilities The sanitary situation is alarming. For an estimated 100 guests, there was only one urinal and one toilet available for the men, which led to long queues. Character Dining The promised “character dining” was also disappointing. Although characters walked from table to table, popular characters such as Elsa or Anna from “Frozen” were missing. This led to disappointment, especially among children. Conclusion The Plaza Gardens Restaurant fails to live up to the high expectations of a Disney experience. The combination of overpriced prices, mediocre food quality and poor service lacks the “magic moment”. For a more authentic Disney experience, it is better to experience the characters at the parade and use alternative dining options in the park. The restaurant is in desperate need of improvements in all areas to meet Disney standards and provide guests with a truly...
Read moreThe main reason for dining here was to enable my son to meet a range of characters. We were not disappointed. We had breakfast and dinner here on separate days.
Breakfast The character meets were great, lots of photos and time for my son to interact with all of characters. There was no need to chase after the characters as they worked their way efficiently around the room, towards the end of service, a host visits every table to check you have met and had sufficient time with each character and they are happy to return if needed. The buffet breakfast was good, plenty of choice and well presented. Myself and my wife shared the photo responsibilities to enable both of us to get enough food. The one hour slot did still feel a little rushed but we were happy to go and explore the park. Overall, a wonderful but slightly rushed experience.
Dinner This was a wonderful experience but felt less rushed than breakfast, we ate later than we would usually but we dropped on a last minute booking on our final day. The interactions in the evening were even better than the day, longer time spent with each character and more interactions as the characters were constantly walking around and entertaining the children e.g. messing with chairs and light switches, which my son found very amusing. The buffet food was very nice, plenty of choice and a wide selection. The desserts looked amazing but there were peanuts in one making it impossible for me to have any from the counter. However, I spoke to an amazing member of staff who went above and beyond, she brought me a selection of cakes from the kitchen directly to the table. I was incredibly grateful especially when I realised just how...
