I was debating whether to give 3 or 4 stars, it probably only deserves 3 but I'd likely return in the hopes the down points were a one-off.
Starting with the positives, I booked this mainly for my Son to enjoy the characters in case we didn't meet any during our 5 day stay, and I'm glad I did, as this was the only time we managed to interact with the characters! So I have a blank Disney autograph book if anyone wants it 🤣🤣 Joking aside, I'm glad we went to this meal so my Son met some Disney characters. The food was nice, I personally love a buffet & loved that you can keep going up for another plate, because it encouraged me to also fill a plate with the healthier foods too (the only time we managed to eat healthy whilst at Disneyland!) I do love a variety so it was definitely my favourite place to eat. There was a wide variety for various dietary requirements including vegetarian & vegan, each labelled up. Our group consisted of veggies & vegans so this was important. The desserts also are very tasty & look cool too!
Now for the negatives! The queues...where do I start?! The queue to get into the restaurant to check in took us 14mins, we was 1 minute away from losing our booking!! And it wasn't helped by people trying their luck by queueing without a booking, then needing a lot of explaining about why they can't just walk in, whilst people with table bookings stood waiting almost past their cut off time. Then there's the queues to get your food, I had to give up after only managing a few salad bits on my 1st trip to the buffet bar as it was so busy, I had people cutting in front of me, and people so close behind me they were literally breathing down my shoulder and even stood on my heel they were that close and pushy!! It's a bit of a free-for-all, not for children or polite people, otherwise you'd still be standing there waiting for your food. The other negative point I must add, is kind of a big one for me personally (maybe not to you) but some of their food was mislabelled. As a vegetarian, I'm slightly scarred at the memory of tucking into their "mozzarella filled" food which was in fact, fish in breadcrumbs (ewwww) 🤢 and the item labelled up as fish in breadcrumbs, was the cheese item I wanted. So yeah, that was gross. Hopefully no one with allergies eats here. I'd like to return next time I go Disneyland, but I'd be sure to only pick up very obvious food...like lettuce...😂 not trusting any breadcrumb or potato covered food anymore! Normally I'd only maybe knock 1 star off but given the price at €100 euro each plus drinks (I think my husbands drink was €23 each and was very small), I don't mind the price if the food was labelled correctly & there needs to be staff monitoring the queues into the restaurant to get rid of any chancers holding the rest of us up, and needs staff by the food to stop people standing on other people / cutting in line etc. I was literally stood on & am a veggie who was provided fish. So yeah, not the best experience but like I said, really hoping it's a 1 off. Hopefully they normally take dietary requirements more seriously?
Final little negative point- the plates are TINY, I filled it with a small amount of salad (a couple of bits of lettuce took half the plate) and because of how busy it gets, it is annoying having to re-queue every time you finished 5...
Read morewhilst I would NOT recommend the Disneyland hotel itself — this is one of the best Disney restaurants I have ever visited I was so surprised to see the low rating when I came to read reviews — I felt the need to post a positive review as a counter firstly — YES this is a largely seafood based buffet (if you do your research on what is offer you won’t be disappointed, silly people on here saying seafood is a negative!!!! ) if you don’t like seafood probably give this a miss as you might feel you are not getting your money worth. my partner is a meat eater and got through at least three plates of sea food alone if you are picky you’re better off going to the marvel hotel buffet where a more juvenile taste pallet is on offer e.g. pizza / burgers I am a vegan and was very pleased with offerings for me! Lots of salady items, falafel, hummus Chefs were very helpful pointing out what I could eat! Dessert selection was fantastic and they were so beautiful Of course — the characters were magnificent. I was so pleased to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy!!!! As adults we sometimes feel overlooked by staff / characters, but any children running up to the characters whilst we were with them were very quickly pushed away I nearly shed a tear at the beautiful pictures on the wall — the Disney cooks, horses, families etc. so beautiful I ignored queueing for food as I do not eat meat so did not wait around for the things I won’t be able to eat — queueing isn’t real anyway, just go get what you want Yes it was busy and tables are close together but I fear this is very common at Disney, it is very busy and of course they want to fit as many people in as possible I do wish children were more managed as they were picking things up and putting them back which was a bit gross Overall I would give it a solid 9/10, minus 1 point purely because I personally would pay extra to go during a quieter / not as many...
Read moreWe stayed in the NY marvel hotel and that's why we where allowed to eat here on openingsday. We where with 4 adults and placed on a table next to the buffet walkway. Worst place to sit: no place for our bags or coats, the figures only passed by on their way to the main dining hall and because the table was in such weird position we had no place for our legs and feet, very cramped. Food was good especially desserts. Service was weird: we saw a difference on how they treated every table: we did not receive warm breadrolls, other tables did, and the table next to us (who had more space and was next to the window overlooking the station) had some regular visitors who knew some of the staff and because they knew the staff the staff arranged the figures to stop by their table. Some of the figures saw us and went to us after going to this couple but some where also straight to leaving after visiting the couple. It was sad to see the service difference. Especially with kids it would be heartbreaking if donald ignored them. This lunch was to celebrate my 150th visit day and we paid 100 euro's each which was for way to high for this kind of service. Would not do it again and rather go to downtown or walt's. Resy of the hotelstaff we met was lovely and the hotel...
