Boutique Hotel Villa Katharina — Hotel in Bamberg

Greetings! Last weekend we were happy to visit Bamberg, the capital of beer in Germany. After searching some hotels, airbnb etc.we've decided to stay in Boutique Villa. We could not come early to check in, so our keys was left in safe box. Codes for safe box we got per email. And now to the details: Rooms: The size of the room was approximately 15-20 m2, which is in my opinion is enough. We've booked a room, which is called "Domberg". In the room there are: french (double size) bed, TV, Wi-Fi, shelf and a coach. In the bathroom we found everything what we need. We missed only a bathtube curtain, because during bathing everything nearby was wet... Hotel: This small hotel is in a quiet area close to the Bamberg Dom. It takes max.15 min on foot. In summer (till the end of October) it is possible to chill out outside in the garden in a swimming pool. In our case this pool was unfortunately closed. During the day in the kitchen you can get hot beverages, in the entrance there are also some cold beverages. Close to the hotel there are different old restaurants or brewery bars with nice cuisine. Breakfast: We were happy to realize, that breakfasts are also included in the price . In other places it usually cost 11 Euro per day per person. I wrote breakfast as a separate part of my feedback, because it was perfect to start a day with it. Actually it is a typical German breakfast, where you can find different types of sausages, fish cheese, joghurt, jam, muesli, fried/boild eggs. Just backed buns were also there. A chef which also an owner of this cozy place, made for us a delicious fried eggs with vegetables (see picture). The kitchen is really small, so if you didn't come at 8 o'clock, there is no place. In our case our friends had to wait 20 minutes to get a free table. Parking: The hotel has a small parking area, possibly for 5-6 cars. From the parking area there is a lift for luggage transportation upstairs. Service: A special thanks to Mr.Hartmann for making our stay so comfortable. Mr.Hartmann is a very friendly and polite person. I would like also to thank his female assistants.

So why gave I only 4 stars? I don't know why they didn't...however we left at our door a sign "please clean our room", it was not cleaned. So after a long day, we came to our messy room and we didn't have a fresh towels, because we left them...

Wir hatten einen schönen Aufenthalt und würden das Hotel weiterempfehlen. Das Hotelkonzept ist stimmig und gehoben. Die Anzahl der Gäste ist durch die geringe Zimmerzahl übersichtlich und das Personal stets freundlich. Bei den Details wäre aber noch Luft nach oben.||||Das Hotel liegt nicht direkt im Zentrum Bambergs, ist aber fussläufig in nur 10 Minuten erreichbar. Vorteil ist die absolute Ruhe und der schöne Ausblick aus dem Frühstücksraum. Die Unterkunft liegt am Berg und ist nur durch eine Treppe oder einen schmalen Pfad vom Parkplatz aus zu erreichen.||||Wir hatten das Superior-Zimmer inkl. Kühlschrank, großem Kleiderschrank und Schreibtisch. Das Bad ist im Vergleich zum Zimmer riesig. Es ist durch ein großes Dachfenster sehr hell und es gibt einen kleinen Terrassenausgang. Das Zimmer ist etwas dunkel, da der Kleiderschrank als Raumtrenner viel Licht blockiert, aber das war nicht so schlimm. Der TV fällt ziemlich klein aus und wirkt von seinen Proportionen nicht ganz stimmig zum Raumkonzept. Jeden Tag liegen auf den Kopfkissen kleine Haribo-Tüten. Der Ansatz ist gut, aber die Tüten sehen leider billig aus.||||Sauberkeit: Insgesamt ist alles oberflächlich sauber, nur im Detail fallen die Schwächen auf, was bei vielen Hotels aufgrund des hohen Durchlaufs so ist. In den Ecken sieht man, wo schon länger nicht geputzt wurde. Die Dusche hat offensichtliche Ablagerungen und Verschmutzungen und die schöne Holzablage am Waschbecken ist durch das Wasser über die Jahre ausgeblichen und hat Wasserflecken. Die Bettwäsche hatte zwei Flecke und am weißem Kopfteil vom Bett waren rote Linien, die vermutlich von rot lackieren Fingernägeln kamen.||||Das Frühstück ist im Preis inklusive. Es ist übersichtlich, aber absolut ausreichend (verschiedene Käse- und Wurstsorten, Lachs, Marmelade, Nutella und Obst sowie Müsli und eine kleine Kuchenauswahl). Auf Wunsch werden Eiergerichte frisch zubereitet. Es gibt einen Kaffeevollautomaten und 4 Säfte zur Auswahl. Soweit wir das beurteilen können, ist das Büffet jeden Tag identisch. Leider ist die Butter, Marmelade & Co. portionsweise abgepackt, was immer einen kleinen Müllberg am Tisch hinterlässt. Hier wäre noch Potenzial für mehr Nachhaltigkeit drin.||||Der Außenbereich ist gemütlich und sonnig. Der Poolbereich wirkte leider nicht so einladend. Es ist eine eher schattige Ecke. Es lagen Reinigungsgeräte frei rum und alles wirkte vermoost und das zur Hauptsaison. Ein kleine Reinigung würde schnell Abhilfe schaffen. ||||Dennoch bis auf die erwähnten Details war es ein...

Just excellent overall. The entire property seems new and modern and very well kept. Having a Dyson fan by the bed was a nice treat in June. The location on a hill is quiet and comfortable. You feel like you are driving well out of city center, yet a footpath puts you within a 5 minute walk of all the old city attractions and restaurants. Daniel was very accommodating and his breakfast is excellent. We did not try to the bikes but having e-bike rentals on site is something we would like to take advantage of if we had more time. Daniel has also made refreshments available at a reasonable cost. The pool area is lovely. We just wish we had more time there!||||The sign from the street is elegant but transparent so it is somewhat difficult to spot when driving. Be prepared for a short, but steep walk up from the car park on...
