Having hired a couple of bicycles for the day, we stopped off here for lunch. It was a Monday in the week following Easter week, and quite a lot of places were closed; fortunately for us Rosi closes on Tuesdays.||They have a stand where you can lock up your bicycle along one side of the hotel, and we did take advantage of this.||The general appearance of this establishment was that everything was very clean (including the bathrooms) and very well maintained.||Note that the restaurant kitchen closes at 14:00. We arrived about 15 minutes before that, and I did ask if we were too late to order some food. The member of staff I spoke to assured me that we didn't need to worry about that.||Once again in Germany, we found the food to be excellently presented and generous in quantity. One of us had the "Rosi" salad with ham and cheese and copious quantities of salad, and the other had marinated herring in cream sauce. The herring was pleasant but I did find it to be slightly over-salted. The salad however was really excellent.||Everything was served quickly and efficiently. The prices we found to be very reasonable for the area, certainly more so than the centre of Bernkastel.||They have a range of home-made desserts available incluiding Apfelstrudel, which I would definitely recommend.||If we're in the area again, we would definitely stop here for...
Read moreWas staying in Germany with my brother and his wife. Visited BK with dogs when the heavens opened. Called into the cafe rosi for drinks and shelter. From the minute we stood on the hotel grounds the waiter made it very clear we were not welcome. Not speaking German didn't know what he said but tone was enough to know he was not happy having us there. Having dogs and being soaked through we were happy to sit outside. He was rude, unfriendly and dismissive. Spoke at us and told us we could sit inside with all the smokers! This was on the day of the winefest so visitors were to be expected. Wouldn't visit cafe rosi again if it was free. My brother lives locally and BK is a fave for his visitors, cafe rosi will be...
Read moreWe had eaten here several times on visits to Germany, but this year we decided to stay a few nights. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with en suite facilities. It's not a five star hotel, but then you're not paying five star prices and it is good value.||Breakfast is a typical German affair with boiled egg and a selection of rolls, cheese and hams. All very fresh with either tea or coffee.||The restaurant serves good honest food and is a favourite of ours when in the area.||The only disadvantage we had is that our German is very limited, and the staff's English is much the same. We didn't find this a problem however as the welcome was warm and friendly and we got by with mutual understanding.||Will...
