The people were nice and helpful, This really wasn’t a good stay from a room, facility, and cost perspective.

Distance to cologne center sucked, but it had a convenient train stop nearby.

The room was so small it was barely usable and uncomfortable. The shower was dangerous and messy to use. The shower was inefficient and ineffective making it difficult to properly clean oneself. It also didn’t drain correctly and was tiny.

The safe was broken in the room.

The air conditioning was broken in the room.

The room was expensive and far away from cologne for the price.

The hotel diner had a boring menu but tasted good (albeit sloppy to eat, my burger fell apart instantly). The front desk snacks and drinks had little selection and was disappointing.

The swimming pool was frequently occupied by a local school making it unstable during the day. The gym was tiny and lacked basic equipment (workout benches, free weights, etc.)

To reiterate this is what I left in the hotel survey.

The room was so small it was difficult to live in with only a small path between beds and the rest of the furniture. The bathroom was even smaller with only space to open the door. We couldn’t even fully open the window because of how tight everything was with lamps and such.

The shower was a bizarre design that made you step up into the tub making it dangerous to get out of without slipping. The shower head water pressure was so poor it was difficult to clean myself.

The shower also had a low ceiling because of its step up design and even more it only had a half door so water was always splashing everywhere. Further the shower didn’t drain correctly, required maintenance, and still didn’t drain correctly!

The safe in the room was dead on arrival and required maintenance.

The swimming pool wasn’t even fully available due to a class renting the time from the hotel. It made it unusable most of the time my family tried. Further there were no towels provided making it difficult to have shower towels and swimming towels.

The gym had a nice cable machine but was missing proper workout benches and attachments. There was no free weights and the space was only large enough...

My husband and I stayed over for the night, we needed a break and some rest as we have a baby that doesn’t sleep and my sister offered to watch the kids for the night so that my husband and I could get some sleep. We decided to book in at the Mercure outside the city because we thought it would be nice and quiet. As we got to the hotel the sauna was not on as they only switch it on at night and you only allowed to use it at night, that wasn’t the big issue, would have been nice to use it immediately but didn’t mind waiting till the evening to use it. The bed was very uncomfortable and there was only 2 small, smaller than single bed blankets on the bed and 2 flat and small pillows. There’s a number you can phone to get 24 hour assistance, no one answers that phone, I tried few times and no answer. The towels were small and dirty, there was only hand towels in our room, no bath towels. Then the music started! There is a nightclub opposite the hotel, it’s technically across the road but the road is like a walk path so basically on the same premises, it sounded like the night club was in our room! I again tried to phone the assistance number and again no one answered so I eventually phoned reception from my cellphone to ask about the loud music, that was at 2am in the morning and they were so rude, all they said is there’s nothing they can do and that it’s not their problem, I asked to be moved but they would not move us to the other side of the building, they just said it’s a nightclub, the music stops at around 3am but it only stopped at 4am! No apology from the staff, they didn’t even try to help. The next morning when I booked out I mentioned to the reception staff how terribly unhappy we are cause it’s not a cheap hotel and their response was, what must they do? Not sorry, nothing! All we wanted was a quiet night, we needed sleep and didn’t get any sleep at all! We go to hotels a lot, we do a lot of family holidays but this has definitely been our worst hotel stay! I am definitely taking it up with the Mecure group as this is un-exceptable! It was such an...

After staying at this hotel about a month ago i would recommend staying for the price as its cheap however the location is not great as its in a industrial estate and not much nearby however the tram is close to the hotel.

Regarding service when i stayed for a week they charged us for a cleaning fee as they claimed we stained the bed with a coffee stain, however this was not the case as the bed sheets and the mattress protector were completely unstained. As we went into cologne center for some food and drinks we arrived later on 1/2am upon arrival our cards to our room did not work while all of our valuables were in the hotel room. we went down to reception and explained our cards were not working and she told us we HAD to pay a charge of 100euros which we spoke about and eventually the reception staff told us we could discuss it with the manager the next day upon arriving in our hotel room we emailed the manager and send photos for proof. Also the room was not even cleaned or restocked with toilet roll or clean towels ect. The next day we got a letter in the room regarding the situation they knocked off 30euros however they completely avoided any proof we sent regarding the stain and basically just said we are charging you if you like it or not.

so in total we had to pay a 70euro fine for a stain that was not our fault if anyone stays here i would highly recommend taking photos of absolutely everything just so they cant just charge you for something...

I stayed here for 3 days and it was overall a good time. The check in was a bit rough as the receptionist was a bit rude. When asked about late check outs he said it would cost extra, I informed him that it is included with Silver members and he begrudgingly checked my status and said “fine”. Besides this, we encountered some lovely staff around the rest of the hotel. A special shoutout to S. Gonçalves who was working at the bar that day. She was not confident in speaking English but genuinely tried to help us, and we soon discovered we both spoke Portuguese and we were able to communicate a lot easier after that. She made sure to check on me and my friend each day and see how we were getting on. She was extremely helpful and polite. I wish she had been working on our last day so that we could have given her a tip, but unfortunately we didn’t see her at check out. I hope she gets recognised for her hospitality.

Be aware before booking this hotel! Although it’s listed as a 4-star property, the amenities definitely don’t live up to that standard. The bathroom design is poor — water from the shower flows all over the floor. We booked this place mainly for the good breakfast reviews, but it wasn’t worth the price, especially for vegans as there were almost no options available. The hotel was overcrowded with kids, making it impossible to sleep at night due to constant noise and doors slamming in the corridors. We later found out there’s a stadium nearby, and large groups of kids often stay here, which totally ruined our experience of visiting Cologne. Even the pool and sauna were packed and unpleasant to use. To top it off, parking was shown as included during booking, but we were charged €15 on arrival. Overall, definitely not worth the price or the 4-star label.

Overall we had a nice stay, friendly atmosphere and attentive and helpful staff made us feel welcome. The breakfast buffet choice was really good with a wide range of traditional German / Continental options. The car park had a good number of spaces so no issues parking when coming late at night, the rooms were nice, the number of plug sockets was a bit of an issue as there was only one near the bed but apart from that it was perfect and we certainly will stay again.
