NH Hotel Erlangen - 7-Night Stay

Overall Impression: My seven-night stay at the NH Hotel in Erlangen was satisfactory, though not exceptional.

Staff: The staff were friendly and accommodating throughout my stay.

Food: While the food was okay, there was limited variety, with approximately 90% of the breakfast options remaining the same each day.

Hygiene: Hygiene standards were acceptable, contributing to a comfortable stay.

Room: The room, suitable for a single occupant, lacked spaciousness and suffered from poor lighting at night. However, plenty natural daylight streamed in during the day.

Location: Positioned on the 8th floor, access via the two elevators was generally prompt, with only one instance of significant delay due to maintenance (approximately 30-40 minutes).

Comfort: The provided blanket was not wide enough, and the water dripping sound from the bathroom at night was somewhat bothersome.

Value for Money: Considering the price point of 750€ for seven nights, the experience felt more like to that of a 3-star hotel.

Conclusion: While I enjoyed my time at the NH Hotel in Erlangen, I would explore alternative accommodation options if returning...

I stayed in this hotel 4 nights for my business trip with €329/night (500 SGD). There are many things that I need to feedback: On the day we checked-in, although we already booked a room with twin bed before, they assigned for us a double bed room. We immediately came down and checked with them. They said that they were so sorry as there was no twin bed room available but after they checked again on computer, there was a twin-bed room available. What??? If we said nothing and accepted it, we might be stay in a narrow room with only a double bed. Boring breakfast: I'm not a stickler but I expected a better breakfast from a 4-star hotel like that. There is not so much options for breakfast. There are breads, some kinds of salted meat, fruit juice, dumpling, yogurt,... and it's same in every single day I stayed there. Crazy slow wifi: For me the wifi speed is also important for my job but the wifi speed in here is crazy slow. I remembered that I need to download a file below 200 MB but I must leave my computer there to download before sleep and continue my work in the next morning.

However, some good points are: friendly staffs, convenient...

Good standard hotel

As a long-term resident of the region I always thought the NH is the only "real" hotel in Erlangen that can offer international standard. Since a few years I have the chance to stay in Erlangen hotels, but usually the NH is way too expensive. I consider 100 €/night as a threshold above which I expect at least medium international standard and service in a small city like Erlangen.

Unfortunately when I stayed at the NH in Nov. 2018 it just underwent renovation and was one big construction area. That might be very good, because the rooms looked and felt like in a 1960s hospital. Not really worth the relatively high price.

I was really disappointed, probably because the high price had raised my expectations. The whole hotel seems (or at least seemed) to urgently need a renewal, even though the rooms are clean and in good shape. Also staff was quite friendly.
