China Restaurant Goldene Sonne — Restaurant in Erlangen

We came here at the recommendation of a friend to celebrate my mom’s birthday. The atmosphere is so lovely, it feels like a little getaway from everyday life in Erlangen.

The restaurant is quite spacious with a wide variety of options for seating, from classic booths to round tables with a rotating tray in the middle. The decor is classic for a nice, Chinese restaurant with vibrant colours and details. There’s also a nice fish/turtle pond in the middle of the restaurant. So the ambience is quite special.

The service was not the fastest at first but it was quite busy. Nevertheless, the service got better while we were there. We were very impressed by the generous and tasty portions and how quickly our main dishes came. We had the sweet and sour chicken, some crispy and slightly spicy duck, some crispy squid and crispy duck with chicken and veggies. Everyone enjoyed their dishes and started eating before I could get some good pictures!

We were unfortunately too full to try the tempting deserts. The main server was a lovely and kind woman who did not speak English very well but somehow understood everything and made our whole experience even more special and memorable with her kindness and generosity.

We had a hard time understanding why their review score wasn’t higher and are glad we ignored this and came anyway. A great option for dining...

A GREAT Chinese restaurant 😋 with a real authentic food. The food was above expectations 😋 real 👍 the meat in the soup was perfectly cooked and tender with a huge amount of vegetables and sauce. (The one portion is enough almost for 3 people). Also it is served with rice. We asked for authentic dishes so they were spicy. For the second dish was shrimps with sooo yummy sauce and not spicy. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, they were all the time asking if everything is OK. The price is quite affordable under 20 euros per person with such a high-quality ingredients and huge portions. It was pur biweekly dinner pick with some friends and it was recommended by a friend in the group. She is chinese and befitting of the occasion since chinese new year has just passed. The food was SO GOOD! I am asian and so the spice and how it was prepared to come to the table all at the same time is impressive. Please order the steam fish! They also had something NOT on the menu, we asked if thet have fried sesame balls and they Said YES. A tad expensive for 1 euro each small ball but oh so comforting and yummy.
