JINH — Restaurant in Erlangen

Food was great, tasty and very fresh. My only (small) point of criticism is that the crispy noodles weren’t very crispy due to them laying in the sauce of the vegetables. I also kind of didn’t like how the tomatoes were roasted, they were a little too soft. But that wasn’t too bad, as they blended well with the rest of the flavors. The drinks were unbelievably good and we could watch the bartender mix them freshly.

The design of the room was very beautiful and it didn’t feel like we were sitting in the heart of Erlangen, more like we were sitting in a forest :). I really enjoyed the view.

The servers were one of the nicest people ever, they didn’t stop smiling even for a second, I felt very welcome :D Especially Tien, who asked us multiple times if everything is ok with our food and was a very nice person overall. I enjoyed his presence. Of course this also is valid for the rest of his colleagues, who were just as nice and were open for the criticism I had.

Prices were very reasonable.

I once dined at this restaurant and sat at the counter where the kitchen prepares the pho. I ordered a bowl of pho with raw beef and beef meatballs. I watched the staff prepare the pho the entire time. I clearly saw him drop one of the meatballs next to the pot while cooking. I thought he would throw it away and give me a new one, but instead, I saw him pick up the meatball with one hand while holding my bowl with the other and take it into the back kitchen. When he returned, the meatball was neatly placed in the bowl and served to me. I have reasonable suspicion that he went into the kitchen to put that same meatball back into my bowl, as he did not cook a new one at the counter. Wir waren mit 4 Personen mit einer Reservierung dort, wurden herzlich empfangen und gefragt, ob wir außen sitzen wollen. Das wollten wir, es war aber dann doch kein Platz frei. Naja, dann also reingesetzt, halb so wild. Das Ambiente ist ja sehr stilvoll und schön. Dann haben wir 4 Vorspeisen und 4 Hauptgerichte bestellt. Es hat schon sehr lange gedauert und der Service stand auf einmal mit dem ersten Hauptgericht da, Vorspeisen also vergessen. Diese wurden uns dann nachgeliefert. Die Vorspeisen waren sehr lecker. Danach kam dann relativ schnell ein Hauptgericht, allerdings erst einmal nur 1 von 4 Hauptspeisen. Dann musste ich erstmal über 5 Minuten alleine essen, fand ich nicht schön. Beim Servieren der Gerichte wurde immer wieder nur die Nummer gesagt, nicht wie das Gericht heißt. Dann musste wieder in der Küche nachgefragt werden. War irgendwie umständlich. Alle 4 Hauptspeisen waren allerdings sehr lecker. Dann wollten wir noch einen Drink bestellen, in dem Fall die "Saigon Mule". Wieder war die Bedienung verunsichert und wollte von uns die Nr. vom Drink aus der Karte haben mit der Begründung, dass sie so viele Drinks auf der Karte hätten. Das hatte ich noch in keinem Restaurant. Dann kam der Drink, schön garniert und serviert in einem stilvollen Kupferbecher. Was aber gar nicht ging, dass die dazugestellte Ginger Beer Flasche handwarm war. Nach dem Drink kam auch niemand mehr und wollte wissen, ob wir noch etwas trinken wollen, obwohl die Gläser leer waren. Zusammengefasst: Tolles Ambiente, sehr leckeres Essen aber der Service war leider total chaotisch und unprofessionell, auch wenn sie sehr freundlich waren. Aber so ein Abend steht und fällt eben auch mit dem Service, deshalb maximal 3 Sterne. Wegen dem Essen würde ich allerdings...
