Mövenpick Hotel Münster — Hotel in Münster

This hotel has a very nice location. It is in a very quiet part of Münster and through a nice walk that is partially along the lakeside, you get into the heart of the city centre in about 25 minutes.||The room was nice and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the mattress could even be somewhat adjusted!||There was a Nespresso coffee machine with complimentary coffee cups. That was much appreciated. Just as the in-room safe, but keep in mind it is quite small. My 16" laptop certainly did not fit.||The bathroom was not very large, but the shower area provided enough space. It was quite elongated and the rack for a towel inside this area was very convenient.||The parking situation is somewhat odd. There are a few free parking spots at the hotel entrance, and you can use the street side parking, but there is also a parking garage. It is a bit on the dark side and the spaces are somewhat tight, but it is convenient. It is actually a public parking garage. Hotel guests pay 17 Euro/day.||There were two things that I think can be improved. The 32 Euro charge for the breakfast is way too high if you just want a simple continental type of breakfast. It would be nice if the hotel could offer such an option. Luckily, there are bakeries nearby and we went to one of them. Got a great breakfast at a very reasonable price.||Another thing I would like to bring up is that I had to pay the city tax upon checkout, but I had paid my reservation in advance. This is not about the money, but it would be more customer friendly to include this tax in the room charge. Or at least inform guests of this when...

The hotel didn’t live up to its billing. ||First, the positives.||The room was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room was large and very quiet, overlooking gardens ( which it transpired was a cemetery which could explain the lack of noise).|The breakfast was very comprehensive. The bar was comfortable and the bar staff friendly and helpful. |We ate in the bar one night and the food ( calves liver) was truly excellent, as was my wife’s salad. ||The negatives. ||It is clearly a business hotel, and as such was soulless. |I had been in dialogue with the hotel and at no time was I told that the restaurant was completely closed. The breakfast and dinners were served in a semi- permanent marquee, where the wooden floor bounced the contents of your table when anyone walked past. It completely lacked any atmosphere. |The hotel advertises cycles, subject to availability. I had requested these. On arrival I was told there were none available as they were all out. On our second day I was told that all of the bikes had been taken out of service awaiting replacement and the replacements hadn’t arrived. Two conflicting and incompatible stories. ||There is plenty of free parking at or near the hotel so no need to pay for the underground parking. ||The hotel is not in the centre of Munster, and as Munster is such a vibrant thriving university city I would prefer to stay in the...

First the positives:|This is a nice hotel with friendly staff. |The breakfast is good. But a little expensive. Served in an adjacent pavilion (we were informed that the restaurant was under renovation!).|Nice and big rooms. |There are 3 chargers for electric cars, ||The negatives.||We had three rooms, of which they had apparently forgotten to wipe the dust off in two of the rooms!|Charging for electric cars is in the underground garage at €17/day. And only one out of 3 chargers could be started to charge our cars. |The staff knew nothing about it the charging facilities. Which they regretted.|When paying for the stay in the garage, you have to pay in a machine that only takes cash. |Which we didn't have enough of. After inquiring at the reception, we were told that we could pay there. Maybe it is an idea to put a sign on the machine about that option?|||In terms of price, the hotel is on the slightly expensive end considering that it is a rather basic hotel.|We used the hotel to stay in transit and will choose another...
