My husband and I spent 11 days at Omanye in April 2016. ||||It was an overall very agreable experience. The garden is beautifully kept with lovely flowers, bougainvillea etc. and much neatness. ||||The room is clean and nice too - and the air conditioning as well as bathroom sanitary installations worked - warm water too. ||||The girls Ruby, Peace and Gloria were all very friendly and most accomodating as well as the man who works there, Agbey, who really went out of his way to help us with all his heart when needed. Agbey and the girls deserve much praise! Also for the good atmosphere between them! It was a true pleasure! ||||The owner Nico, was very pleasant too. ||||The personnel were all 100% great! There was, however, in other areas room for improvement.||||1) We had been promised a free taxi pick up at the airport, but apparently, the driver had sent a friend or aquaintance while he himself waited in the car. This aquaintance seemed to have some issues from earlier with the police at the taxi stand at the airport, and furthermore, he did not have any ID. This gave rise to a mildly upsetting situation upon our arrival. Finally our driver turned up and we arrived to Omanye. Here we were charged 40 cedi for the trip - contrary to what we had been promised. ||||A more smoothe welcome, where events were in sync with the previous promises would have been a better "starter"! ||||2) On the website it says that there is internet. This is only partly true. The internet connection is very fluctuating from 0 to fluent, but mostly in between - meaning very unreliable. The internet connection was an important part of the choice criteria for us as we needed it for our doings in Accra, so this was frustrating. ||||3) Breakfast was a trifle scarce! You had to choose between different food items, i.e. butter (which was not butter) OR cheese (which was not cheese, but semi artificial cheese spread) OR jam, egg OR meat (which were very thin slices of 3rd grade industrial sausage etc.) alongside with one tiny sachet of powder coffee or tea (and bread of course - and there was enough of that). One extra breakfast was 30 cedi! For 30 cedi, you could certainly do better!||||It would be more welcoming to improve the quality of the breakfast products to be more genuine and more ample! It would not have to cost much and the cost could be retrieved elsewhere, but it would have made us feel more taken care of and more satisfied in our tummies! ||||4) A writing desk in the room would also be a nice thing as well as a bedside lamp with a friendly glow. Those energy saving blue bulbs give off a ghoulish light! I don't know whether you can get other ones in Ghana - they seem to be all over - so this does not pertain specifically to Omanye. I just wish people would see that they are not healthy and stop using them!||||Omanye gets great points for ||* Friendliness, good service and very responsible behavior from all staff Ruby, Peace, Gloria and notably Agbey + owner Nico||* Cleanliness, neatness, top maintenance and functionality||* Airconditioning working fine||||Omanye gets less great points for||* Airport pick up (complications at airport + charging money for fair - not corresponding to promises)||* Internet connection not adequate (as promised on website)||* Breakfast - quantity as well as quality both wanting||* Room - table lacking and only one bluish ||light bulb in the ceiling! So either bathed in ghoulish blue or...
Read moreonly worth 20$ a night. CONS are bring some cleaning supplies for floors and disinfectant spray for air-conditioner intake and you will be happy. place is very dark and not well lighted, rooms smells of mildew and body odors, air condition takes time cause rooms are large. one room had roaches, maid didnt clean well spider webs and trash under bed, drain in tub clogged with hair. Good things. tv barely had any working channels. this place is not worth the price they charge.
PROS are nice room size, balconies for some rooms too, hot water, bathroom size, outstandingly beautiful outside 🤔, location, distance to stores, all roads near are solid not dirt, i would definitely buy this place and fire the cleaning staff or supervisors....
Read moreA small guest house located in a good area of Accra. The service is not on good level, as only 2 people are serving the house, oooh sorry there is a nice cat belongs to house, its meeting the guests and accompanies them with a great pleasure. It's relatively safe. Breakfast is poor, the same everyday. Never saw the owner of the house, so it was an impression, that nobody cares about the guests. At so called reception stands a girl from morning till evening. She serves breakfast, check in etc. and a boy servant 24 hours a day He is Very polite. At the reception you can buy water, bear & juice. And it costs twice more than in any other place in Accra. Conditions in the rooms are not so bad. They clean and change the towels etc...
