We stayed at Ioli Village in Pefkohori for two weeks in August 2025 as two families (4 adults and 3 children), and sadly, this was one of the most disappointing holidays we’ve had—mainly due to the condition of the accommodation, the unhygienic swimming pool, and the unprofessional attitude of staff.||Before travelling, I read a number of mixed reviews, and I always try to keep an open mind. I understand that everyone has different standards and expectations, and I’m fully aware that Greek accommodation tends to be basic and simple, which is absolutely fine with us — that’s part of the charm, and we never expect luxury.||However, even with that mindset, I was genuinely shocked by the state of the property, especially the pool area. It looked nothing like the images online, and the issues we encountered were far beyond minor inconveniences — they were serious concerns related to hygiene, safety, and basic maintenance.||The key issues during our stay included:||* Swimming pool: The pool water was green, with visible green slime around the edges. Our children even said it “tasted funny.” When we raised this with our Jet2 rep, she claimed the chlorine levels were fine — but it clearly wasn’t safe or hygienic. The pool looked nothing like the photos.||* Broken facilities to name a few - our toilet seat: On arrival our toilet seat was at the side of the toilet, when we raised this with reception it was initially fixed however kept falling off. My husband ended up refitting it every day — not what we expected on a holiday.||* Leaking shower - was attempted to be fixed twice and both times was made worse. When raised with rep it was finally fixed. Broken items were tended to it was the disdain from the staff that you were greeted with when reporting these issues.||* Wardrobes falling apart: The wardrobe doors in our room were hanging off and completely unusable.||* And finally a broken bed our bed had 4 lats on it on elf which was broken so when we laid on the mattress we just sagged and rolled into the middle.||* Non-existent maid service: Despite being advertised, the cleaning service was virtually absent. The maids would come into the room but would do bare minimum such as empty the bins. There was dirt which I photographed on arrival that was still there the day we left. Towels and bedding were barely dealt with over two weeks.||* Overflowing bins: The large bins outside were constantly overflowing, attracting cats (I don’t mind cats however some people do), unsightly and creating unpleasant smells around the property.||* Safety deposit box issue: The deposit boxes were in reception and required two keys. The master key was bent and on the verge of breaking. We were told repeatedly to be “careful” not to snap it — but they never replaced it. This had an easy fix that they just ignored.||* Neglected property: The grounds were cluttered with junk — broken washing machines, old furniture, and piles of construction debris. It looked abandoned in places, and certainly not like a property that’s supposed to welcome families.||* Inconvenience: As the pool was unusable, we ended up walking 20 minutes every day to the Anna Hotel just to swim in a clean, safe pool. We also had to buy food there to use their loungers, adding to the cost. (We’ve written a separate review of Anna Hotel — which we couldn’t fault.)||* ||Poor Customer Service||When I raised these issues with the hotel staff, I was met with rudeness and even eye-rolling. It was clear they didn’t want to hear any complaints. When I broached this the staff member stated that everyone was always complaining all the time.||Even our Jet2 rep, who was helpful and friendly in other ways, said, “It’s a 2-star hotel.” I reminded her that it was advertised as 2-star+, but honestly, no star rating justifies poor hygiene, broken fixtures, and total lack of basic service.||One of the things we love most about Greece is the people, the friendliness and professionalism but this is not what we got here.||||We Would not recommend Ioli Village to anyone — especially families with children. It needs serious attention and a complete rethink from both the owners and Jet2.||||If you’re looking for accommodation in Pefkohori, try Anna Hotel or Anna Island. We ended up spending most of our time there and it was clean, welcoming, and well-managed — a complete contrast to...
Read moreI was worried after reading some reviews, however this accomodation is only a 2 star plus rated by Jet2 Holidays and I wasn't expecting a 4 or 5 star. I knew that a holiday is what you make it and I knew it wouldn't be luxury I pad £1400 for 2 adults and 2 children for a week in UK summer holidays which is cheap. Our apartment exceeded my expectations. Room 322 had 2 full bathrooms and 2 balconies front and back. One bedroom with double, then living/dining sofa bed. Kitchenette. Sheets changed every 3 days. Bins emptied daily and mopped a d towels changed every 2 days. We paid for a room with air con when we booked the holiday ||The pool area and bar was so much better than I expected. Logo umbrellas and sun beds and bar and seating nice. Yes there is green slime around top of tiles in the pool(like other reviews mention) but the pool area was nice and we spent a lot of time there. ||Don't expect to be able to cook big meals in the apartment. Kitchen is a toaster, 2 hob rings. kettle, sink, and fridge and crockery. We only had 1 glass and 3 cups lol. ||The garden areas are quite nice. Looks like the apartments had their own supermarket but this is derelict now. ||If you want a safe it's 25 euros. These are not in your room. They are in the reception area. ||There is a greek restaurant on-site but never used it so cannot comment. But the pool bar did food and drinks. Coffees lovely. My children had burger and chips and chicken nuggets and chips and enjoyed them. Husband said the draft beer was lovely. ||Short walk to old town square. Few tavernas, shop and mini mart. Can't comment on the food but I saw a meal for 2 adults for a mixed grill 18 euros.||10 mins walk to beach front which is beautiful. Side streets of shops and taverna's and main road with supermarkets, pharmacy's etc. Nice beachfront places to eat is Senior. Best Pizza we got a gigantic family pizza and 4 drinks foe 23 euros. You can eat out for a good price. ||If you are paying for a 2 star plus just don't expect it to be luxurious. ||The side street the apartments are located do not have nice views so don't expect one. Please do be careful of the cars and mopeds that drive quite fast. ||Overall, we had a lovely and...
Read moreSpent 7 nights here in one of the single bedroom apartments at the end of July 23. The place is perfectly fine with caveats. We booked for 4 people with Aircon believing that the one room would have two or three beds. When we actually arrived the one bedroom had one bed in and the living come kitchen area had a sofa bed but no Aircon. Our two teenage lads coped with it and there were fans available at reception but the travel company could be more specific about this in their brochure. The apartment itself was clean and tidy and had two bathrooms both of which were in good condition. Not always hot water depending on the time of day. The kitchen area had hob, fridge and sink with basic cutlery, pots and pans in cupboards. The cleaners came everyday and were very polite despite having to communicate with non Greek speakers. The apartment had two balconies on either side. One looked over the street and the other the "village". Unfortunately neither outside light was working and one had the fitting missing altogether. Not a mega issue but it's the little things that make the difference. We used a torch. Overlooking the street was interesting if nothing else with several occasions of queueing traffic and people dumping stuff at the bins. They were far enough away to not be bothered with the smell and seemed to be emptied every night. The streets around the area were a mixture of residential and tourist. If you want a view then this apartment wouldn't be appropriate. One good thing is it is relatively close to local amenities and maybe 10 minutes to the beach. The complex has a pool with a bar and served light snacks, which was pleasant enough but in keeping with the rest of the place a bit rough around the edges. We spent pretty much the whole afternoon there on the loungers and it was a pleasant place to be. Good for a dip after a day out too. In my opinion you get what you pay for with places like this and depending on what your requirements are it is perfectly acceptable. For luxury and views go somewhere else. We used it as a base to sleep, pop down to the local bakery, grab a coffee, sit on the balcony and plan out our day...
