It's year 2023. We haven't been in Pefkohori for 5 years. And now was the time to come here again and of course we needed to eat 😋 and the first choice was once again Makis Tavern. And as a few years ago it was a magnificent experience. Food is fresh and tasty as always. The young owner is very polite and friendly as always. Prices are affordable as always. We enjoyed our meal, house white wine ant the atmosphere of an old little town square. We are going to come here again and we can recommend this restaurant to everyone. I updated my review because i want people to see that they kept their quality.
Hmm...how to begin this review... magnificent maybe? Yeah... I'll say magnificent. Because if i need to describe this place and food in one word then I'll say MAGNIFICENT. But i am not going to describe it only with one word. First, the young owner of the place is so polite and professional. Really cool person. We reserved table at 8-30 PM. We came half an hour earlier and we got our table right away. It was Saturday and the place was full. Second, the young owner told us what are the specialties of the house for the day. We ordered one specialtie of the house, chicken souvlaki, chicken filet and portion of small burgers. We got our food very quick. I can't explain how delicious was the food. It was a journey of flavours. Everything is home made. Everything with love and experience. And the prices that you pay for this excellent food and service are more then reasonable. We were so delighted with everything and we are going to visit this...
Read moreWhat can I say about this place but it was an absolute joy to eat here. The waiter (and owners son) was a top bloke who really sold the food to us so by the time we got our menus we were already salivating. Unfortunately I received the wrong fish: I ordered prawn saginaki in tomato sauce but received mamas special saganaki in mustard sauce. The waiter was beyond himself and told straight away ‘if you don’t want it I’ll take it back’ but I said I would try it anyway. It was delicious! We had a nice array of side dishes too such as: szatziki, spicy feta and bread. The atmosphere was great and the place was busy every night we walked past it. When we got the bill my dish had been taken off which for me is just great customer service. We returned a few nights later and the food was just as good then too: I had the swordfish, which was a first for me but it was like pork steak and was cooked perfectly. As a recently converted pescatarian I found the menu here offered enough variety to keep me coming back. My partner had the souvlaki and we tried the sweet wine which hit the spot too. If you are in the area, give this place a shot…you won’t...
Read moreVery bad experience. Very few variety of food. Everything is fried, not grilled, small portions and food have basic taste. I can cook it better in airfryer at home. We didn't have bread and butter as a appetizer like we had in other restaurants and also desert. I didn't particulary order becaus of poor offer.I wouldn't recommend it. If you were a truly serious host, you would accept criticism about your own performance, instead of writing to me and other people here with your point of view. Instead of writing essays here, you could invest more energy into figuring out how to improve your service and menu. Greeks are generally very hospitable and kind people, especially those who are in your line of work, and they really try to keep their guests satisfied. As a nation, you are known for philosophers, but I think you should distance yourself from that if you are a host and truly focus on what's necessary. There is a famous sentence in the Bible "If someone throw a stone on you, Throw him a bread." However, if applied in your case, it could actually harm a...
