Aknos Restaurant — Restaurant in Kassandra Municipality

We stayed in Pefkochori for a week and we went for dinner at Aknos twice.

I liked that it’s not an overly decorated space, with an airy room, cared for furniture, high windows.

But of course it’s the food that counts: All our dishes were excellently prepared, with options that set Aknos apart from many other restaurants in town.

The traditional dishes, like the egg pasta and the beef stew, reminded me of my families southern Italian workday meals: Simple, but delicious and comforting. A welcomed break from grilled meat and fish with the usual sides. The pancetta with mashed potatoes and lemon sauce was plentiful and grilled to perfection. Let me begin saying that the food and wine were excellent. This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend but I have been avoiding it for some time as there is no sea food in the menu. I visit Pefkochori quite often so I’ve finally decided to try it with friends and see if I should bring my boyfriend next time. Unfortunately, the treatment from the waiter was quite bad, we were all feeling very uncomfortable. He made us feel as if we didn’t order enough or idk what his issue was. First time I’ve seen this attitude in Greece and I’ve been visiting the country for 15 years every summer. The food was absolutely amazing and beautifully plated. I tried a little bit of every dish from our 7 person group and each one was just as good as the others. The meat was tender and all the vegetarian options were flavourful and filling. Price to value was very sensible as well. Just be careful and don't make the same mistake we did by ordering an appetizer and a main dish for one person, the portions are really big and you're gonna regret leaving food on your plate or feel like a balloon after eating it all.
