Petania Hotel & Apartments — Hotel in Lixouri Municipality

Thank God, all these years I had the chance to stay at hotels of every single category-from 5 stars to the (close to) lowest quality possible private hotel rooms. ||This place, gained the 5/5 for many reasons. And the basic one was "value for money"! I mean, incredible value for money! How many places can you find in Greece, and not just anywhere but, at a fantastic island like Kefalonia, mid August, with 55€/night?||I bet, even if you find it , chances are that it will be awful! ||And that's what makes Petania Hotel such a great bargain!!!!! For this amount of money, it was much, much decent, and more than decent!!! ||Sleep quality: The matress, at least in our room, was of very high quality. I mean it.Pillows alike. Room, spacious (I've stayed in less big rooms for double price). Cleanliness, evewhere in the hotel. Hotel owner, was very kind, and when we needed his assistance, about some residents of the hotel that were super noisy, was ready to assist, and he did it!||It was one of the best bargains of my life. I read some review stating the old decoration and stuff like that. These things are unreasonable. You have to take into account what are you being asked for, and for that, ask what you get! ||Again, me and my wife had a great experience at Kefalonia, and the Petania hotel and hos kind owner played their role perfectly!||LOCATION: Hotel is just 2-3 minutes by car from the centre of Lyxouri, which is good, since you won't get some night noise, and also if you need breakfast or supermarket or sth, you can reach city centre quickly. ||About Lyxouri itself: Lyxouri may be not the most popular place in Kefallonia. However, we found it very convinient since: There are 3 highly rated beaches within 15-25 minutes by car distance (Petanoi, Xi and her close-by beaches Megas Lakkos, and Atheras) and also, Zola island, from where you can hop on to a boat to the magnificent Fteri beach, is 25 minutes away. ||Myrtos? 45 minutes. However, where can you stay to be closer to Myrtos? Argostoli is the same. Skala is way further. I mean, Lyxouri is... a bargain!!!||AND, if you want to visit Argostoli, which you have to, it's very nice, you can do it by ferry boat! From Lyxouri, you board onto this ferry which is about every half an hour available, and in 20 minutes you dissembark to Argostoli!!!! I mean... amazing! (You can also go by car, but this is 45 minutes vice versa),||Kefalonia is a BIG island. So, no matter where you stay, you will have to drive to see some stuff. Now, I find Lyxouri a very strategic place to stay, especially if you find some place cheaper than other places...

The rooms are not as shown in the photos. Maybe they were taken a long time ago.||It was dirty, the bathroom and shower was smelly. The pillows were brown and stained, my wife slept with her head on a travel pillow. Asked if there was a bar we were told to buy some drinks in the supermarket and drink them in the room.||Asked him if there was a kettle he told us to use a saucepan on the stove.||We put the air conditioning on for about 3 hrs. The next day I honestly thought the wife and I had Legionnaires disease. We were smothering.||We spent 2 days of our holiday looking for somewhere else to stay. Thankfully we did.||We don't do 5 star this is exactly the type of place we look for but we do like...

After reading reviews and booking the hotel on arrival I thought we had booked the wrong hotel. ||Dirty, smelly, disgusting. No pillow or mattress protectors on the grimy linen. ||The bathroom was dated and dirty we had to go to the supermarket to buy cleaning products to clean to our standards whilst we looked for alternative accommodation.||As for non smoking the gentleman in reception was a chain smoker.||There was no hot tub which I don’t think I would have used anyway. ||No kettle, no mini bar which was mentioned in the write up. ||We realise it was a budget hotel but the least you can expect is cleanliness. ||Think twice before booking this...
