We found this taverna after looking at the reviews. Our experience was excellent. It was busy with families, and tourists of various ages. The two staff that looked after us were excellent although busy. Had stater, tomatoes with cheese and mains of Shrimp and Pork in mustard sauce. Both were excellent. I read some poor reviews before we went. Didn't have to book, the bill was correct and service was excellent. If you go have back up choices from the menu. If you are looking for fine dining go somewhere else if your looking for a Greek Taverna and everything that goes with it this is it....
This is an update....the next evening after looking for somewhere suitable we found ourselves outside. So let's do it again. It was even more full of diners and got last table. table.was told we need to wait 20 minutes extra....no problem some wine and bread kept us satisfied. Ordered food mixed starter for 2 ...and as I said you need alternatives. Had the pork and mustard and white whine again. Thought you won't do it as good....they did....obviously the starter was probably a stretch as it can with chips.....once...

It was worth it just to watch the ants marching off with a fish spine, like Vikings carrying a longship to the shore. The Meatballs were gorgeous, so light! We also had the Sausage cooked in tomatoes with pepper, were chorizo-esque, but without the paprika. The Seasonal greens was wilted spinach which my body was craving after so much salad, cheese and meat. Everything was fresh and tasty, portions not overly large, maybe a litre of house red was a bit much but if you can’t over indulge on holiday...
Read moreThis is such a humble and awesome restaurant!!! I am delighted! The lovely owners cooked for us so deliciously, homely, with heart! We were there on the evening of December 30th. Anyone who has visited Kefalonia knows that most restaurants are closed in winter. But Cafe Ouzeri H Gefira, as if it was waiting for us with its unique comfort and soul! We ate freshly caught fish, cooked to perfection in front of our eyes! The homemade marinated octopus was melt in the mouth! The tzatziki was amazing! This restaurant doesn't have an outward shine, but it shines like a diamond because of the love the owners put in! Also had a very nice conversation with the lady who served us. A wise, extremely likable woman who I want to hug! Tonight was...
