This hostel was amazing beyond our expectations. I've worked in hostels for many years, and should say that this place has the exact atmosphere and ammenities that travelers are looking for in their perfect stay. The staff was great, the rooms were colorful and cozy, beds super-soft and comfortable (best sleep in Greece so far!), the water in the shower was hot, the wi fi was working great (great for digital nomads), and the room and the common area were clean, because the staff takes care of tidying the place and making it look nice all the time. I'm amazed at how much love and effort the owner puts into the place. We have met her and she is the sweetest person, constantly making this hostel alive and sparkling, bringing fresh breakfast products from her own farm and donating to charities in Africa. Her staff was also superb, providing us with all the information we needed for a best day trip around Meteora. We didn't even need a guide because the staff helped us with locating the points of interest and encouraged us to explore. In the evenings all the guests sat in the kitchen, cooked together and drank wine, produced by the owner's husband. True awesome hostel experience, bringing people together and reminding you that traveling is all about making friends and...
Read moreNot sure why there is good reviews. The 5 minutes with the owner was ok, she seems a very nice lady. Except for the check in, the hostel is maintain by clueless volunteers. We booked 2 nights but only stayed an afternoon because of false advertising... Let just say that if you come here thinking that you are going to have air conditioning (as advertised/as payed for), you will be disappointed and if you confront the owner, she will tell you that you are wrong and that there is no air conditioning on booking. There is, in fact an air conditioning but no remote control (clever lady) Plus, the owner told us that she was sending someone for that matter, while clearly, hours later, no one was coming. Btw 6 beds dorm is actually 7 beds, just sayin'. The place is clean but a little run down. For the same price you can go 2 blocks further to Holy rock, a brand new place with a...
Read moreYou get what you pay for, and this is definitely the most affordable hostel choice near Meteora. In a heatwave, it was very noticeable to us that the AC unit was broken. Beds have really noisy/crinkly plastic mattress protectors, everything is pretty dated. The kitchen is outdoors and the doors do not lock. Still - for the price point you really can't complain. Ask your host about breakfast at the cafe down the road, they have a bit of a partnership for an affordable brekky. Great location and the Wi-Fi connection was good enough for a work call.
Early check out at 10 meant we had to scramble after breakfast and pack our bags with us to the monestaries we saw that morning. An 11am check out would have saved us some hassle.
Looking at other reviews - it seems I missed out on the benefits of meeting the owner and staying when the place was a bit...
