APPALLING TREATMENT BUT IN THE END WAS RESOLVED BY MANAGER (hence 2 stars as they did apologize. Otherwise, would be 1 star). This review is for travellers by a traveller in order to help you out and give you an honest review. The hotel was booked for us by Meteora thrones company and so we had no control over booking it. I would avoid for next time. While the hotel itself was okay (breakfast btw is nothing special and this is NOT a 3 star hotel, its more like a 2 star), we were treated horribly by one of the members: the wife of the hotel owner/manager. It made us feel this was because we were POCs. We paid their tourist tax on the night on checkin yet were accused of not paying it the next morning and she wouldn't believe us. She made a phonecall to her colleague and finally confirmed that we had indeed paid. Then she refused to give us change for the locker to lock our stuff in so my old father had to walk all the way down the street to get change (after buying a bottle of water). Then machine took our coin and failed to lock. The lady said it wasn't her fault and that the locker isn't hers. Refused to return the 2 euros coin to us and basically said its your problem. She said to leave our stuff in the open/she'll watch it but we didnt want that since the luggage had our cash and laptop and passport etc. We made a special stop on the way back from the tour to confront her and her husband was very nice and reasonable and heard us. He apologized, then she apologized as well, so I considered it resolved.
I must say the day of checkin, the other staff lady was very kind, welcoming, and nice. She did offer an early checkin, otherwise we would have to wait 3 hours in the lobby! She also helped a lot with keeping us on track for the tour times. Plus like mentioned above, the hotel owner/manager is a very nice and reasonable man, appreciate his handling of...
Read moreSofia on reception was excellent. All arranged with her by email. Meteora view, two adults and one small dog. Arrived three weeks later and the owner's wife asked us to leave after 30 seconds saying no dogs allowed. I explained we had a reservation and her husband checked with Sofia before saying he would honour the booking but it was against their policy. I was later summoned to his office so he could tell me they only took small dogs and our dog was not small. Asked what he considered small, he produced a chart of all breeds issued by the Kalambaka pet society (but didn't ask what our breed was and every other Greek had wrongly guessed). We had a 12 month old Sprocker puppy. I explained I had never been asked how small our dog was by his staff and he insisted we should have given more detail. I again pointed out that we were not asked for more detail and would have gladly given it if asked, but he insisted it was our responsibility to adhere to the pet society definitions. He again said he was only reluctantly honouring the booking but wished us a good stay. When told we didn't feel very welcome, he was surprised. The room was adequate, the view was excellent and the breakfast was modest. Again, Sofia on reception was excellent. The hotel is acceptable but don't book without giving them your life story or you'll spend you're whole visit feeling...
Read moreWe booked the hotel through Booking. On the website it says that there is parking for the hotel, in reality the hotel owners directed us to park on the street. We booked 2 rooms with a view and when we arrived we were told that there were no rooms with a view and we were accommodated in two rooms facing the wall of an adjacent building. When we got to breakfast we saw that it was very poor, the coffee was cold and there were no vegetables. We pointed this out to the owners and they warmed up the coffee a bit but claimed that they do not provide vegetables at breakfast even though we informed them that we are vegetarians. The owner of the hotel told us that she was willing to credit us for the breakfast, for us it was satisfactory and we planned to go out to eat breakfast in a restaurant, but immediately her husband started to raise his voice and shout at us that he is not ready to give a credit and that we should make do with what we have. He literally shouted at us and when we pointed this out to him he claimed that this is how the Greeks speak. We canceled the booking and were charged for one night, but we preferred to change hotels.
