Manos Apartment — Hotel in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

This is a small family aparthotel located on a hill of picturesque valley.||Rooms are quite spacious with terrace in front of them with table and chairs and stone bench.||It is oriented to south-west so one can enjoy sun setting into the mountains.||Since it is on the side of the town facing mountains it is rather quiet and relaxing location.||||The room has 2 beds, table, dinning table, washing machine, kitchenette, fridge, set of cooking utensils, safety box and air conditioner.||There is nice bathroom with a shower. There is enough of electric plugs in the room.||||The hotel owners are very friendly and helpful. They speak quite a few languages.||There is a nice pool with sunbeds and a bar next to it. We didn't try it, but it looked really great.||||The hotel is located on the side of the town, but since Agios Nikolaos is rather tiny that's hardly a problem.||The closest sandy beach is Ammos in 900m located in front of Marina and has wave-breakers.||I liked Gargadoros pebble beach located in 1.3 km, which is less packed than town central beaches.||||AB supermarket is located in 700m and there is a smaller Tsagarakis supermarket in front of it.||Lidl is in 2.5km and Chalkiadakis is in the town center in 800 m.||The port where you can take boat trips to Elounda or Spinalonga is in 1.6 km.||The bus station is on the other side of the hill in 600 m.||If you climb the hill, there is a church of Agios Haralambos on the top, which offers great looks over Mirabello Bay.||The town is located in a hilly region, but you can go around most of the hills, if walking uphill...

El apartamento es horrible: está muy pero que muy sucio, se aprecian las huellas de todos los anteriores huéspedes, el suelo está pegajoso y exageradamente sucio. Yo no entiendo personalmente como le dan un 61% a éste hotel. Pues merece, como máximo, un 10% y porque tiene piscina y un exterior bastante bien arreglado (aunque tengan en cuenta: lo bien arreglado por fuera se confierte en un autentico horror en el interior de los apartamentos). ||El mobiliario es exageradamente antiguo y sucio: la mesa del comedor estaba más que sucia cuando llegamos, y, por si fuera poco, además del suelo y mesa, la cocina estaba que daba miedo. Además, con un humor de muy mal gusto, nos dijo la propietaria que detrás de la puerta teníamos una escoba y fregona (del palo: si lo quieres limpio, háztelo tu). Por si lo dicho resultase insuficiente, el baño era asqueroso. Tuvimos que ir a comprar lejía y limpiarlo nosotros mismos para contar almenos con un mínimo de higiene (evidentemente ante todo este horror sólo estuvimos una noche de todas las que teníamos ahí previstas). PEro por si lo dicho resultara insuficiente, tened encuenta lo siguiente: la cama tiene por lo menos 100 años, se le notan todos los muelles y además al tumbaros -si no lo arreglan- vays a empezar a notar a las horas de estar ahí que os picará todo el cuerpo: tenía pulgas. Tuvimos que ir al médico por culpa de ésto. ||Desgraciadamente nuestra noche del terror en el Manos Apartments de Agios Nikolaos no terminó con esto: la construcción del apartamento en sí parecía como si uno estuviese dentro de una caldera. Nos dimos cuenta que en el interior del apartamento se estaba a 35ºC (lo comprobamos con un termometro que había afuera, lo pusimos dentro y marcaba esto), mientras que la temperatura exterior (fuera del apartamento) era de unos 29ºC. Ante ello nos dimos cuenta que el calor no venía de afuera, sino que venía de abajo las baldosas. Intuímos que abajo de nuestro apartamento debía de haber maquinária o alguna caldera de calefacción o termo... o vete a saber qué. Asimismo tengan en cuenta que aunque haya aire condicionado en el dormitorio, éste resulta insuficiente para enfriar el apartamento, con lo cual terminas sudando y asándote sin poder pegar ojo no sólo por el horrible calor sinó por los siguientes motivos: las sábanas estan muy sucias, te pica todo -supimos al día siguiente que el colchón tenía pulgas, la puerta da directamente a una carretera y no ciera bien, no puedes abrir ventanas porque te da justo al pie de carretera -el lugar está aislado y con poca iluminación. Además, a las 5-6 de la mañana un chico llamó a nuestra puerta gritándome en ingle´s, muy enfadado porque no le había devuelto su pasaporte (creyó que mi apartametno era el de la propietaria). Luego intenté ayudarle (pues en 3 horas le salía el avión de regreso y la propietaria no le había devuelto el pasaporte). En el intento de ayuda, vimos que por la noche se van y te dejan ahí sólo, no hay nadie. La propietaria no regresó hasta las 6 y pico de la mañana a pesar de llamarla (desconozco si el chico perdió el vuelo o no). En relación a lo del pasaporte y DNI, quiero comentar algo que me pareció muy grave: cuando llegas te piden el DNI i pasaporte para hacer la registración (hasta el momento fue normal); luego te dicen que ya te lo devolverá y que te hará una cópia de la "registration". Esto es mentira. No te hacen copia alguna, y en relación a la devolución del DNI, me tardó 4 horas a devolverlo y por que yo tuve que ir insistiendo a la dueña de que no podía dejarme indocumentada (había alquilado un coche y naturalmente sin DNI no puedes andar). Al final me devolvió el DNI, y fue cuando a la mañana siguiente sucedió todo lo del chico que le había sido retenido el pasaporte por la dueña.||En fin. no terminaría nunca de decir cosas negativas de éste lugar. Simplemente decir que en Creta hay lugares maravillosos para dormir y al mismo precio que el Manos, por lo que busquen bien y así encontraran un lugar al que poder descansar sin temer por nada.||||Y ya por acabar, como no todo debe ser negativo, simplemengte decir que una cosa positiva del hotel es que tiene la piscina, que está bastante bien, y asimismo que se puede aparcar fácilmente dado que los apartamentos se encuentran al quinto pino del centro de la ciudad.||||||Un última cuestion, puesto que es la 1a vez que comento en tripadvisor y desconozco exactamente como funciona la puntuación, simplemente decir que de una nota entre el 1 y el 10, el Manos Apartments seria un...

Wonderful location with some nice little apartments. Ours was overlooking an olive and carob grove and was incredibly peaceful with a lovely view from our balcony. Rooms are clean but sparsely appointed so this may or not be an issue depending on how much self catering you intend to do. There are a couple of electric hobs and a fridge with a small freezing compartment. Small shower with curtain and 2 single beds which can be pushed together. A large wardrobe with hangers for your clothes. There is air con and a safe but these come at a weekly cost that isn't insignificant. The balcony/veranda has a table and chairs and overlooks both the sea and the mountains. Late checkout is available at the cost of 50 euros so this can be a handy option if you have a very late flight like we did. Very much had an adults only feel and the pool area is immaculate. Not a chipped tile in sight. There is a convenient poolside bar that serves snacks, breakfast, ice creams and plenty of drinks as well as packs of water at a reasonable price. There are even organised boat trips to surrounding areas including Spinalonga and surrounding areas organised by the owners.
