To Potiraki — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

STOP! NEW COMERS TO AGIOS NIKOLAOS! Arrived on the 13 th of July to beautiful Crete, we decided to have dinner at To Potiraki! ** Little Glass translation a local eatery. There is nothing little about this gem located in the platia, the heart of Agios Nikolaos. A warm welcome from the moment we sat down, with traditional Cretan hospitality of small mezedes to start our pallet to extraordinary an meal. To Potiraki Offers traditional Cretan foods such as homemade stuffed vine leaves, Grilled meats, yogurt, based dishes, sour soft cheese, spreads, fresh greens, Local wines, and of course, Rakhi, traditional of Crete and so much more. Service was exceptional and very friendly professional and on point and made us feel as if we were part of the neighborhood patrons. Actually it’s packed with locals😉. Started our day with their delicious variety of coffee and sweets, and a friendly smile making us feel as if we were family. So if you’re ever in town, stop and have the best coffee you’ve ever had, lunch, exceptional dinner or possibly all of the above you can’t go wrong. Thank you so much to all the staff that has made our stay memorable in every way.....

This lovely taverna was recommended to us by a local taxi driver, and we are so glad we listened! From the outside To Potiraki looks fairly understated — but the food is anything but. We ordered quite a bit from the meze menu, expecting small tapas-style plates... but the portions were incredibly generous. Everything we tried was fresh, full of flavour, and clearly cooked with care.

Once we sat down and ordered two beers, we were served small appetisers on the house — a thoughtful touch. Then the dishes started coming and kept coming! We did our best to try everything, but in the end, we could not finish it all (hopefully their dogs enjoyed the leftovers!).

Service was warm and attentive throughout, and to top it all off, we were brought dessert and fruit on the house. A truly generous and delicious experience from start to finish.

We are so happy for being back to Potiraki as our main dinner base, after we were amongst the first ones in 2021st to discover this gem and suggest it to many Trip Advisor users who later proved that it's one of the best restaurants in Lasithi area! Seeing the place full back in 2024. and even better than 3 years ago made our hearts full then! Then we came back again last night, July 2025, with some menu changes it's an irresistible place still and even more! Not only that we keep on coming back to Nikolaos because it is beautiful base for vacation...
