We arrived at the potamaki beach hotel, the staff were friendly and welcoming had to pay the €1.50 a night tax in cash (ATM just outside the hotel €3 to retrieve money) we went to our room checked it out, the bathroom window lock was broken and wouldn't shut or close, which I'm a person that gets biten alot so this was a no go for me, they send a man up to fix the window which he couldn't until the next morning, so asked to move rooms due to this, took awhile but they eventually moved us to another room which wasnt as nice as the original and two twin beds not a double, the room was alot smaller and dark quite gloomy, it was a lower floor, the air con didn't work in this room and I had to go back downstairs to tell them back the air con a lady came up and check it out and said it must be the remote at this point I was getting slightly annoyed as I had been awake since 2am flying from England and it was now around 3pm in Greece and all I wanted to do is settle in a room so I could go out and enjoy my day. We were told by the staff that there were no other rooms until Saturday, which we agreed too even though we didn't want to move rooms on the main day of our holiday. We went out for some food and came back and decided we wanted a different room today and not waste anymore time about changing rooms etc, we spoke to the man downstairs, I did get slightly irrate as no one was listening to us and it was frustrating.. after about half an hour he said ' why didn't you ask to move rooms we have one you can take a look at' we asked for another room about 5 times! So this was even more frustrating that they were hiding the fact they had another room in the first place. The guy kept telling us we can pay to upgrade but I didn't want an upgrade, I wanted a room that had everything working that's all as a hotel room should, I paid enough in the first place I shouldn't have to then pay more but the hotel rooms had things wrong with them. The new room we could finally relax and sort our cases out.
I booked through love holidays which we got a good deal for 8 nights but the pictures on love holidays do not look what the rooms actually look like, they are very old, the hair dryer was from the 1960s I swear, never seen anything like it.Phone rang randomly had 3.30am and again another time in the middle of the night so I unplugged it in the end. You here everyone's doors slamming constantly and everyone's key cards beeping. Moving furniture 8am every morning. We got breakfast with our room, but I only ate there the first day and wen back again but decided to eat out, the range of food is as quite bland and wasn't much to choose from.
There are some nices restaurants around the area picante, big bite (and the place next to it can't remember the name), there isn't much around the area of the hotel to be honest, but it's a great location to get to the old town via 20min bus journey. I'd advise to go on a boat trip to anti paxos caves and swim, it was amazing.
Hotel was decent prices for drinks €3 for a bottle of beer, €7/8 euro for a cocktail, €6 for a gin, they have events on throughout the week which are great like greek dances and things. 2 sun-beds with umbrella are 10 EUR for 2 beds (2 drinks included in this price).
I wouldn't stay here again to be honest, but I had...
Read moreI have just returned from a 10 night holiday at the Potamaki Beach Hotel and had a fantastic time. The hotel, a family run business, is a few minutes walk from the Port of Benitses and directly across from a beautiful pebble beach.
The hotel was excellent. There's a large outside seating area with bar, which serves hot and cold drinks and light snacks throughout the day.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. They offer a buffet breakfast, which is between 07.30am to 10.00am. The restaurant area inside was very large and extended outside.
The breakfast buffet was superb, offering a very wide range of food, including cereal, fresh fruit, cold meats and cheese, pastries, salad, yogurt, fresh bread, a variety of hot food including eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, beans, juice, coffee. Breakfast was unlimited and plenty on offer for vegans, vegetarians and people with food intolerances. They also offer a buffet style dinner for €15 per person (or on a breakfast and evening meal basis).
We stayed in one of their deluxe rooms, Silver moon and it was a very large room en suite bathroom and enormous shower and constant hot water.
There was free WiFi at the hotel, including our room and had a very good connection.
Our room also had free air-conditioning, which was very effective.
Towels were provided and the rooms were cleaned and tidied every day, to a very high standard.
There's a nice pool and smaller children's pool, set in lovely gardens, with plenty of loungers and shady areas and a table tennis table. The pool is open until 8pm.
There is also a large inside area with comfortable sofas, big screen TV and pool table.
There are lockers available for €2 where you can store your luggage, if you have a late flight, however, it's perfectly safe to just leave your luggage, as they have full security cameras 24 hour reception. In any event the hotel felt very safe and the staff are very vigilant, with no possibility of non guests being allowed to wander round.
Check out of the rooms is 11am.
Reception staff are multi lingual, speaking English, French, German, Polish and probably other languages.
The hotel is situated on the main road through Benitses, but the traffic wasn't particularly heavy or noisy.
There was entertainment at night, from traditional Greek dancing to Karaoke, but it did not go on to late at night.
This is a lovely, quiet hotel suitable for families, couples or small groups.
There's a bus stop directly across the road, operating a very regular service to Corfu Town.
There are plenty of restaurants and shops within a few minutes walk from the hotel.
I will definitely return to this hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it, but it is not suitable for people in large groups who are looking...
Read moreThis is the largest hotel in Benitses, on the sea front across a busy road, on a bend, from the narrow shingle beach. Sunbeds are available at a cost. Rooms were clean, smelling of bleach, cleaned daily with new towels and bath mats.. Beds very firm. Asked for extra pillows. Blankets were kept in a cupboard - no idea if they are cleaned between occupants.|Noisy with the door lock system making a noise every time some one entered their room and floors were stone so shoes were loud. There was aproivate event on until 2am every night.|Breakfast was extensive, with a wide selection of hot and cold food (hot food was luke warm) Unfortunately the Greek yogurt was sour and got progressively worse. The queue for tea and coffee, fruit juice was often very long as there was only one server for all customers. You could not help yourself to drinks, other than water. Taking food away was forbidden!|When we arrived we found there was a private event happening that meant our use of the hotel bars was restricted, despite us being hotel residents. The manager stated that the event had been advertised on the hotel website, however, the advert was for 2024, and still is! |The lovely lady on reception negotiated free sunbeds for us, though they forgot to tell the sunbed man, who didn't believe us, and was very rude!|The host of the event also managed to get the hotel to pay for us to attend the event (£35 each) so that we could use the bars.|A friend left her room key card in a bar one evening. The barman returned it to the hotel that evening, but no one made any attempt to let us know they had the card, presumably so they could charge us 15 euros for a lost card. Even when I asked for it, having spoken to the bar, the night reception man was rude and reluctant to return it. to me. |The lady on reception was fantastic, helpful and did her very best to sort any issues.|The manager and night reception man need to learn customer service.|Overall, not an hotel that I...
