Can’t beat this taverna for location - water’s edge, good quality wooden sun beds with thick cushions, solid parasols. Friendly staff, good service. Two sun beds + parasol are 10€/day or free if you eat lunch there. I was staying at the Avra Hotel, which is associated with the taverna. In my room, there was a notice saying sun beds were free if guests took breakfast at the taverna. I questioned this as I was charged for both, but was told the notice was out of date, and despite being advertised neither the hotel nor the taverna honour this arrangement. Unfortunately, there is a strong smell of sewage which wafts across, particularly in the afternoons, which the taverna staff attempts to mask by burning blocks of incense-like stuff which has an almost as noxious smell. However, if you go to the far end closest to the Galini Sea apartments the air is fresh and you are away from the thumping music. The beach in front of the Galini Sea Apartments is also the easiest place to get into the sea around there. Benitses beaches are shingle and it can be quite rocky. Swim shoes are highly...
Read moreWouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone, the food wasn't so bad we just ordered the breakfast menu. The view was also quite lovely but the stuff on the other hand was awfull. During our stay we decided to lay down on the sunbeds that are part of the restaurants because we overheard from the staff that they are free for the clients. After eating and laying down for like 5 minutes we went to pay. The chef of the restaurant was immedatly rude to us. He charged us for the sunbeds and he said that only what he says matters and not what other staff says. The prices for the sunbeds weren't written anywhere he just came up with that. I wouldn't even be so mad if he politely explained what is he charging us for, but no he was straight up rude and had an attitude like we tried to rob him. After this experience i would consider it but i am not really planning on...
Read moreThis is a basic Taverna with a small pleasant, but unglamourous 'beach' terrace with a few sunbeds. We enjoyed an excellent Greel salad for lunch followed by an hour's snooze in the Sun! The service is friendly (co-owner with beard could smile a bit more!) with new and regular guests usually given a free desert to share. They do most of the Greek taverna basics well, some are excellent including grilled Dorada (wonderful!) and the Corfu classics such as Sofrito - tenderised beafsteak cooked slow in a rich source and Bianco (sea bass or groupa slow cooked with lemon and potatoes. We like others returned more than twice during our 10-day stay...
