This was a last minute booking and I chose a Maisonette with the bedroom above a lounge and kitchenette area in the new block across a narrow road from the main part of the hotel. ||||The maisonette was lovely and very clean. This new block had a separate pool to the main hotel, but we could swim in either pool. They were both beautifully clean, unheated but warm enough to swim in as it was lovely weather. The main hotel pool got more sun than the apartments’ pool, which meant I was usually the only person using the apartment pool. ||||In the apartment we had a fridge, a kettle and a sink but no microwave so we could only do cold snacks. Plates, mugs and cutlery were supplied. The shower worked well but the water was sometimes too hot so you had to adjust it before you got in the shower. There were two small sofas which I think were sofa beds for children but I think they would have been uncomfortable to sleep on as they were very hard. Our double bed upstairs also had a very firm mattress but it was new and had nice quality linen so a softer mattress is just our personal preference. ||||One of the highlights was the breakfast included in the room rate and the group of lovely lady servers who always greeted us with a smile and a short chat. A special mention to Sofia and Julia who spoke especially good English and were happy to chat and give advice as to where we should visit around Chania if they were not busy. ||||There was a good choice of food at breakfast, ham, cheese, hot Cretan pies and specialities, cereals, fresh fruit, tinned fruit, various pastries and cakes, bread, jams spreads. Even chocolate mousse and chocolate spread on two mornings, fantastic for a chocolate lover like me! The ladies served out whatever food we wanted and we could go back as many times as we wanted. ||||We would be very happy to come back here. There were several good sandy beaches about 10 minutes walk away and plenty of nearby restaurants and cafes. Buses passed regularly, though we had a hire car so never took the bus. There is free underground parking for guests staying in the apartments but the spaces are small and a tight fit if you have anything other than a compact car. There’s usually parking available on the road if you do have...
Read moreThis is a good value-for-money hotel. The room was satisfactory, and what problems we found (primarily a leaking faucet) were solved quickly by the staff. Our A/C suffered for the heat wave, but worked most of the time. Breakfast is a buffet (even if under covid regulations it needs to be supervised by staff) and it was decent enough - the best part were the fresh watermelon, honey melon and oranges every morning. Possibly due to covid, the bar does not offer food at all, even if they still advertise it as "restaurant" on their website. The swimming pool is big enough although it can get very crowded on weekends and staff is not interested in enforcing any kind of basic rule (which in our case meant that a bunch of kids was allowed to play throwing balls everywhere, running, shouting, splashing all the people sunbathing, and making a general nuisance of themselves for a whole day). The hotel's position is good for Kalamaki beach, but it is otherwise a bit isolated if you do not have a car; the worst aspect is certainly the very busy road it faces, with a lot of pollution (which can be a bit of a problem especially in the swimming pool area). Overall, the best part of the hotel was the staff, very dedicated and...
Read moreWe stayed at Elektra beach hotel in June 2022. Its location is very good if you want to be away from Chania’s crowd. It’s located at the seaside but the proper beach is about 5 mins walk. The bus that runs to Chania every 20 mins stops 1 minute away from the hotel. Our room was in the new building of the hotel and it was absolutely gorgeous. The cleaner changed towels every single day and tidied the room. I didn’t like the fact that there wasn’t a “don’t disturb” sign for the doors, a list in the room saying the opening ours of the buffet, reception, pool, breakfast times, wifi code. I found the main reception man who seemed to be a manager, an older man, quit rude. He also didn’t speak English and didn’t help me and treated me like I was a staff member. The breakfast was basic and bit too crowded with the waitresses being too many for such a small buffet area. They were very nice and always trying to help. The pool is nice at the main building as there’s the bar but the one at the new suites doesn’t get any sun after 12 o’clock but it’s perfect for chilling. I would definitely go back to this hotel and strongly...
