Overview:- I’ll start this review by saying we spent 6 nights in Crete and during this time, we visited this restaurant almost every day (whether for breakfast, dinner or just drinks) and that truly is a reflection of how absolutely spectacular both the restaurant, staff and service is.

Food:- We tried a variety of dishes including the Mossaka which was utterly outstanding; I would categorise this along with everything else on the menu that we tried as “elevated and mastered homely cooked Greek food”. It’s worth noting my family are Greek and I can honestly say the mossaka was better than my yeya’s (but don’t tell her!!).

My partner had the linguine with salmon which provided a creamy sauce and generous portion of salmon - he actually had this twice, due to loving it so much and both times he thoroughly enjoyed it.

We also tried the chicken fillet which was grilled and was bursting with flavours and the meze including dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), Cretan sausages, pita and dips, garlic bread with homemade tzatziki, cured pork, zucchini patties - and all of which was delicious and fresh.

For breakfast, we tried the pancakes with Nutella, yoghurt with honey and fruits and my partner had the ‘big boy burger’ and again, all were absolutely delicious.

So much care and precision has been taken in the execution and perfection of every single item on the menu.

Drinks:- Some of the best cocktails we have had. The staff also offered to make us cocktails that were not on the menu and we can say, the banana colada was one of the tastiest we had (and we definitely did not just have the one!).

Good choice of wines and beers too; you definitely won’t be thirsty!

Staff & Service:- Stephanos and his attentive and welcoming and purely wholesome staff have really made this experience special - we were made to feel like we were a part of their family from the moment we arrived to the moment we left.

They really think of everything (for example, crisps or nuts whilst they know we are solely ordering drinks) - extremely thoughtful and thorough.

During our stay, my partner and I got engaged and upon telling the staff at the restaurant, they delivered us a bottle of fizz with fruits free of charge - just again, highlighting how truly lovely this restaurant and its staff are.

To sum up our experiences:- Faultless and impeccable. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Crete and would like a taste of high quality and homemade Greek food whilst being cared for by Stephanos and his team.

Thank you for making our stay in Crete even more special and definitely one to remember, we will surely be back in...

Ahhh it's such a shame. Upon our arrival to Chania we had dinner here. The food was brilliant. I had the Tuna and Strawberry Salad. We came again hoping for the same quality and it's such a shame it didn't reach the first time expectations. When I ordered the same meal the tuna was overcooked and 'warmed up' tasting. Half of the pieces were crispy on the outside and only warm at one end. When I was asked if the meal was good, I mentioned that the tuna didn't taste right and the head waiter came over with a 'the tuna is fresh' response. I said I don't doubt that but compared to my first visit when it was cooked to perfection this time it doesn't taste or look right. Instead of saying 'no problem we'll sort this' I was left to eat the salad (which was nice) and then they proceeded to charge me in full amount, even though I had left the tuna in its entirety and you knew the reason why. I wanted to give you a 5 stars Kalamaki Restaurant, but you're the only restaurant we've been to in all of Chania who hasn't looked after us and instead of resolving a dish when the chef definitely would have known it wasn't to standard, you didn't do anything. Pretty...

Food were delicious, except of the Dolmadaki, but the personnel is horrible, apart of one elder man who took our order. After we have finished our dinner, they have removed everything from our table… even the glasses….then they brought us the bill even if we didn’t ask for it, as we were still chatting and watching the sea ( what we have chosen that restaurant for). The restaurant was half empty, they still had 1,5 hour until they should have closed…. So I really do not understand the reason of their behaviour. I have payed by card and even if I did not say anything, the waiter asked me “ tip?”…. I said, yes, even if I wasn’t happy with the service, I felt uncomfortable to say, no tips…. Next question: “ how much?” ( he didn’t even give me the time to reply) … “ 5 euros”? I travel a lot, but I have never had not even a similar experience anywhere….. if the restaurant was mine, he wouldn’t work there for sure and I would train the staff how to behave with the customers…. Because even if the moussaka for example was the best we have tried, we would never return because of...

Not sure I can recommend it. The location is great, right on the beach. The staff is very friendly. The food is, unfortunately, very mediocre and a little bit more pricey than other, better tavernas around. We had: Shrimp Saganaki - the shrimp had a pretty muddy taste which I think the chef tried to mask with an extra touch of vinegar Mousaka - pretty good ; the best food we had there Pork stifado - decent but nothing special really; it's pork in tomato sauce nothing more, nothing less Slow cooked lamb - lamb with potatoes, cheese and paprika in the oven; cooked in some sort of paper bag. It was pretty ok but be careful as it is not exactly lamb, it was more of an old sheep considering the strong aroma and chewiness so if you like lamb but not sheep do not order. Also, I don't think it's fair to ask a high price(19.5€) for a few pieces of, what is in fact old sheep. Not nice.
