I recently travelled here with my partner and we were absolutely devastated when we arrived. Our flight was originally delayed by two hours so we only arrived to our hotel around 1am, the driver of the bus did not even know the location of the hotel and kept driving around in circles, he then began to get annoyed that he could not locate our hotel and told us to leave the bus and that it was "somewhere here" thankfully we could google map it and it was a short walk away, however it was dark and we had to walk down dark alleyways to get to the hotel. when we arrived we expected to check in with the "24 hour reception" however we soon came to realise this was a lie. I began to ring the receptions phone number but there was no answer, i then decided to go on to the hotel website and there was a personal phone number, i rang this and a woman answered and told me there was a note left on the main door for us, on the note was our names and directions to our room with "key left in the door" on the bottom. I understand that Greece is a safe place but i absolutely do not agree with leaving your room keys in the front door and a note for anyone to see directing them to it!! When we found our room and entered we were both extremely disappointed. The pictures we had seen online were absolutely nothing like the room we were given, the room was extremely small to begin with, there was a very small tv in the room with a half functioning tv remote stuck to the wall although this didnt matter as there was no operating channels on the tv anyway. The room was extremely humid and we tried to turn on the aircon, which we later found out you have to pay an additional cost for, the shower did not work and after being delayed in the airport and a 4 and a half hour flight this is all we wanted. The water would not turn on and when it finally did after numerous attempts the water was freezing cold. After this you can imagine how we were both feeling, we decided to just relax and watch a movie before bed in hopes of feeling a bit better, it was then we realised that the wifi was password protected and because the "24 hour reception" was closed we never got the password, due to the location of the hotel there was also no reception so we couldnt even use our mobile data. We decided to just go to sleep and that we would no longer be staying at this hotel. I would not consider myself or my partner to be hard to please but going on a foreign holiday to relax and not being able to watch a movie at night or even being able to have the luxury of a hot shower was enough to make us up and leave after one night. The following morning we got to get up and have an actual look around the hotel before leaving, just outside our room was the pool that was quite dirty and there was open holes in the ground that had plastic chairs shoved into them to stop anyone from falling into them, we do not have kids ourselves but we did see kids around the pool and this is completely unsafe for them. The "games area" consisted of a football table and a pool table, both had covers over them held down by rope so you could not use them. The breakfast options was one table covered with different types of cereal and fruit, there was no hot food options. We waited around in the "24 hour reception" yet again and nobody seemed to be there, we had to walk around the hotel to find a cleaner to ask her to contact her manager as they were not answering the phones. The manager was completely unhelpful and did not seem to care that we wanted to leave after just one night at her facility. She informed us that she had just been at the hotel 30 minutes prior to us calling and that the shower water was warm, we however had been standing at the reception area for 40 minutes prior to this phonecall and did not see anyone come in once. She offered us a different room and said we would absolutely not be getting a refund, we politely declined and explained the reasons for us leaving, we told her the pictures she has on the internet are nothing like what the rooms actually look like and she suddenly found it hard to understand our english, even thought the whole phonecall previous to this she understood us perfectly. We informed her that we would be leaving straight away and she asked us to leave the keys at the reception and that was it, no apology. There was also a letter and a set of keys left at reception for another family coming to stay, god knows how long they were sitting there. The fact that they leave the keys out for you with a sheet with directions just shows how often they are actually at the "24 hour reception". I have never left a bad review for anywhere before but this hotel completely ruined the first night of our holidays, if you want a hotel with no receptionist, rust in your broken shower that only works the odd time with freezing cold water, a room with no aircon and no functioning tv and a pool with holes in the ground and plastic chairs stuffed into them then this is the hotel for you. I am absolutely disgusted that we didnt get a refund as we only could bare to stay one night and then had to pay for a new hotel which you can imagine was not cheap. We booked through love holidays and i will also be sending them an email, if you are booking through love holidays please do not let them send you to this hotel it is...
Read moreVery little is ok about this hotel. We had two extremely uncomfortable nights here and a lot of issues with the ignorant and obnoxious hotel management. The location is ok. The pool is alright but over chlorinated and has a drunk barman that turns up at 10am pours himself beers and stares at everyone! ||We’ve had a really terrible time at this hotel, their customer service it’s exceptionally bad. ||||Upon arrival, we got a hand written note in reception for which room we were in. In the room no welcome, ac instructions, no wi-fi password. The room was dated like they invested any money in them since the 1980’s, beds were hard and noisy, very little kitchen equipment, a bathroom that flooded when you had a shower and a very noisy and smelly toilet. However these issues weren’t even our main problem ||||The apartment only had one ac unit that was old and ineffective in the living area and no ac unit in the bedroom. The bedroom had a low lying window that was open and had a 20||metre drop onto concrete. DO NOT BRING KIDS TO THIS HOTEL. There was no fly net or safety screen. As a protective father with an adventurous 3 year old son this scared me. We had two very hot and uncomfortable nights here before leaving. ||||We raised our concerns with the staff but they were uninterested, on the 3rd day we spoke with the receptionist who said they will give us a refund for our remaining nights. However, this was a lie. Booking . com spoke with the manager who denied all knowledge of my complaint and that i had been assured a refund. Since this time they have continued to refuse to refund one and completely uninterested in making any changes. The room was boiling hot, no ac in the bedroom and a very unsafe window for kids, i would not go near this hotel and wouldn’t be surprised if it closed in the not so distant future because of poor customer service and unsafe...
Read moreWell what can I say. We have visited the beautiful island of Crete many times and are always pleased. Both South and North of the island. BUT, staying at the Lia, Koukouras apartments has got to be the best yet! ||Dimitrius looks after the beach bar/cafe and absolutely made every day a delight.||We stayed in a studio at the Lia apartments which are right on the beach. A tad small, but in all honesty we spend hardly any time there, so adequate enough for our needs. I would suggest asking for a 2 bed if you like a bit of room. The kitchen was well equipped if you require, except for a cork screw!! But I’m sure had we asked they would have found one for us. Bathroom and kitchen spotless. It has recently been refurbished, decor was superb. Bed linen and towels changed every 3rd day (even the day before we left). ||The staff here are so friendly, I very rarely stay at the same place twice but would definitely go back.||Johanna works behind the beach bar all day long, 7 days a week through the summer and is a welcoming smile and sunny nature all day. After a 12 hour shift in that heat I’d struggle to smile!, and as I said, the entertainment from Dimitrius had us in stitches every day. We would not have met half the people we did if it wasn’t for his cheeky antics every day!||The beach is golden sand, a bit stoney getting in the sea, but it’s only like that for 5 feet or so then the usual golden sand you come to expect in the Med. ||There is a bus stop right outside which can take you to Chania harbour for €1.80, and they run every 15 minutes or so. We enjoyed a few evenings in the old town, which has entertainment of some description most evenings through the summer months. ||Greek dancing, bands and art galleries, plus restaurants galore. ||You will not regret staying here I am sure. We are definitely returning soon!! I would go in...
