Not a good experience, left angry. We were a group of 5, and we ordered some drinks along with the food. First of all, we waited for drinks about 40 minutes, and our drink order wasn't that complicated: water, wine for all, one beer and aperol spritz. When the drinks finally came, they apologized and said it was because of the rush. Yea, it could be believed expect the servers were walking slow and even just standing doing nothing. We also noticed that people around us were pretty much all eating: why would there be a rush when there is just a few people waiting? After we got our drinks, we had to wait for another 30 minutes to get our food, which left atleast some of us somewhat unsatisfied. We were all pretty angry about the wait already. First of all, the menu was false. I ordered shrimp saganaki, and when ordering we asked if it meant it was fried: answer was yes. At the end my food wasn't fried at all, it was shrimp stew. Not even close of being fried. The taste of food was fine, but the portion size varied a lot. I have attached some photos of my food compared to other foods of my group. As you can see, my already disappointing meal was even more disappointing: it reminded me of a kids meal: only few potatoes and shrimp (the shrimp one is somewhat understandable, since shrimp is pretty expensive but still). So in the end, after already waiting for 1h 10 minutes I had to wait 10 minutes more: just to wait my group to finish their meals since my false fried meal was so small. We got tiny cakes and raki at the end, but at that time I was already so pissed about the evening that it was no comfort at all. Do not recommend, if you want the food you ordered and without waiting the whole evening, even though there was not a...
Read moreThe reason I went to this place to order food was because it was open around 8:30 p.m. and someone suggested to get a cafe freddo from there because all the other places that served coffee were closed. The gentleman behind the bar was so nice and recommended that we come and eat there one day. He didn't just fob me off, even though he was very busy and I was asking alot of questions. I was at the Seaside Apartments in Stalos with my friends and we didn't feel like going out to eat , so I remembered that Kimatogi Taverna had a take away menu, so my friend and went there at 9 at night and ordered a meat Platter, it was meant to be for four people, there were nine of us and 1 of us is vegetarians 8 meat eaters and it was sufficient food with still some left over. We are big eaters too. My friend said that the meat was very tender and on the platter you get chips, rice and lots of pita . He threw in extra Pita We also got Tzatziki dip . Although we didn't eat inside the restaurant it comes Highly recommended The place inside is beautiful though. It is also facing...
Read moreStumbled on Kimatogi the first day of a 7 day holiday and was very impressed by the quality. As any tourist does, we thought wow, let's google reviews and try other high rated restaurants in the area. They were OK but no match for the food and service at Kimatogi so we thought, was it a fluke or did we just order the right meals so we went back and ordered different meals. Again, great food, even better than the first visit. Tried a few other restaurants only to return to Kimatogi where we dine on our last 2 nights. Share your plates so you can enjoy more variety and make sure you have the best Cretan salad in crete. Also, go early, enjoy sunset on the beach with a few drinks then...
