POSITIVE: rooms itself are quite nice and very clean.
NEGATIVE: the people who run this hotel are clearly not aware how to offer proper and quick service to their guests in case unforseen circumstances arise. Upon the arrival of my two-week stay, internet problems caused their payment terminal to fail which caused some unfortunate consequences resulting in quite some discomfort on my behalf. While this was certainly not directly the fault of the hotel, they were the only ones who could solve the problem - it took them exactly 10 days (!) to take the appropriate action and make the necessary calls. In the meanwhile, wrong information was given until the very last moment. 10 days of worrying for me, not being able to enjoy my holidays as I should have.
Never on my many travels throughout Greece have I ever experienced this kind of incompetent and slow behaviour by hotel owners. So beware: this hotel seems fine... until something comes up - don't expect too much help or action from their part unless you keep asking and insisting; it's really an insult to Greek hospitality. This was also reflected in the very bleak check-out: don't expect a warm goodbye or the question how was your stay.
The reception desk is only manned until 3pm; bad luck when you have a question in the afternoon. Internet and phone connections stopped working once inside the room. I could only make calls on the terrace of the hotel. "Garden" views are views of a wall with a tree in front of it. Breakfast is okay, but repetitive.
All in all, this hotel doesn't deliver the services appropriate for this price range. My impression is they rather cater for people hopping on and of boats and only staying for a few days, not causing too much effort.
If you decide to stay for a longer period like I did, I recommend you to choose another hotel - don't be mislead by the location: there are better options in Pythagorion, offering more value for money and the kindhearted service you expect when in Greece.
I am a repeating guest in many hotels throughout Greece and Europe, but I won't be staying here again...
Read morePolyxeni is a perfect example of a cosy, clean, charming and affordable family-owned hotel. We stayed in for two weeks, occupying a two-beds room with a balcony looking towards the garden. Our first impression was that the room is a bit small, however, as the time went by we figured that we actually have everything we need. Also, the fact that the room overlooks the garden made us sleep better as all the noice from the many taverns is on the side overlooking the sea. The bed is very comfortable, the rooms are being thoroughly cleaned every day. Breakfast is very good as well, especially the fresh 100% orange juice that we look forward to every morning. We would warmly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting...
Read moreThis was our second stay at this hotel in two years. It is perfectly located on the waterfront amongst restaurants and cafes. We had two rooms, one with a balcony overlooking the waterfront and one overlooking the garden. Both were very clean with comfortable beds and good air conditioning. The staff were always polite and willing to assist. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with freshly squeezed orange juice for every guest. We had an early day trip by boat on one day and they accommodated us with an earlier breakfast. We can’t wait to return to Samos where we will surely...
