During our recent trip to Samos, my three friends and I decided to dine at Restaurant 83100, lured by its prime location and the promise of authentic Greek cuisine. Unfortunately, our experience was a litany of disappointments that turned what should have been a pleasant evening into a series of frustrations.
Ambiance and First Impressions: At first glance, Restaurant 83100 appeared charming with its quaint, seaside setting and inviting exterior. However, once we were seated, the charm quickly faded. The interior was poorly lit, making it difficult to read the menu. The tables were cramped and uncomfortable, which was exacerbated by the restaurant being overcrowded. Additionally, the noise level was uncomfortably high, making conversation difficult.
Service: Our problems began with the service. Despite having a reservation, we waited nearly 30 minutes to be seated. When we were finally shown to our table, it took another 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us. Throughout the evening, the staff appeared overwhelmed and inattentive. Our server seemed indifferent to our presence and took our orders with a noticeable lack of enthusiasm. Basic courtesies like refilling water glasses and checking in with us were completely absent.
Food: The most significant letdown was the food. We started with a selection of appetizers, including the classic Greek salad, tzatziki, and calamari. The salad was wilted and tasted as though it had been prepared hours earlier. The tzatziki was bland, lacking the garlic punch we expected. The calamari was rubbery and clearly overcooked.
For our main courses, we ordered a variety of dishes: moussaka, souvlaki, seafood pasta, and a vegetarian platter. The moussaka was cold in the center, indicating it hadn't been properly heated. The souvlaki was dry and tasteless, served with soggy fries that seemed to have been reheated multiple times. The seafood pasta was perhaps the worst of all – the pasta was overcooked and mushy, and the seafood tasted anything but fresh, with a distinct fishy smell that suggested it was not of the quality one would expect from a seaside restaurant.
The vegetarian platter was equally disappointing, featuring an assortment of bland, under-seasoned vegetables that had been haphazardly thrown together. It was as if no thought had gone into the preparation or presentation of the dish.
Drinks: We also faced issues with the drinks. Our wine arrived warm, and when we pointed this out to the server, we were met with a shrug and no attempt to rectify the situation. The cocktails we ordered were poorly mixed and overly sweet, making them difficult to enjoy.
Cleanliness: Another concerning aspect was the cleanliness of the restaurant. The tablecloths were stained, and the cutlery didn't look properly cleaned. The bathrooms were in a deplorable state, with overflowing trash bins and a general lack of hygiene that was quite off-putting.
Overall Experience: By the time we were ready to leave, we were thoroughly disheartened. The final straw was the bill – the prices were exorbitant considering the subpar quality of the food and service we received. When we expressed our dissatisfaction to the staff, our concerns were brushed off with little more than a cursory apology.
In summary, our experience at Restaurant 83100 was deeply disappointing. The combination of poor service, lackluster food, and inadequate cleanliness made for an unpleasant dining experience. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Samos. There are plenty of other places on the island where you can enjoy authentic Greek hospitality and cuisine without the frustrations we endured. Save your time and money, and look elsewhere for a memorable...
Read moreNot recommending to anyone. When we first went in it was a bit busy and they didn’t welcomed us at all. When we were bored from waiting and started to leave they came to us and asked for some minutes. That’s not a problem we can wait but someone should have welcome us and ask for us to wait to be seated when we first went in. Then we ordered and waited for 1,5 hour, and it wasn’t the most crowded time it was 21.30 and most of the have people already eaten their food. We ordered pasta (not handmade) fried zucchini, kalamari, vegetables and a fish. That was all and it took this much hour. We were drinking wine and when they bring us the plates, he bumped the plates to my glass and it felt to my feet and shattered. Of course this things are happening there is not a big problem but there wasn’t and apology. I waited for 10 minutes for someone to bring a new one then i asked for a new glass myself. My glass was full when it hit the ground but i received and empty glass and not any condolences. And the glass pieces sit there for 30 minutes before i asked someone it they can clean it, Besides the service We only liked the fish and fried zucchini; the kalamari was not crispy from the outside and it was really gummy; the kalamari sauce was not there. When we were paying an other worker asked if we liked our food and we said the same complaints to her about the food and wine glass; she said it was a crowded time and the worker is a new employee etc. It doesn’t matter if you lack of employees or experienced ones you have to be kind and have certain rules as an establishment. For example if something has happened to a food/drink you have to bring a new one or remove from the bill. Besides all of that she said its because there are lots of Turkish people came for holiday and government has given visa to everyone etc. We don’t care if you disagree with government policy or not, we are there legally and we are visiting your places eating, drinking, enjoying like any others. But a treatment like the is not acceptable. (Addition for the answer: Why would i need to lie about a sensitive topic? the lady with glasses who toke the payment said it is very crowded because the government start giving visas, I don’t lie. And it’s not a problem you may be right about it but when we complain about our experience the excuse being this is rude. You may just simply say sincerely sorry, it might be crowded in the evenings. And i didn’t just write don't go to the restaurant i write what happened exactly. People can read and decide. And we are not kids but you are still...
Read moreWaited 1.5hrs and only got garlic bread from our order. No one came to update on delays ….
We left with two hungry kids to find a place they could actually serve us.
Thanks for ruining an evening in Samos
Updated for response for management: we asked several waiters for updates on our meals, we were never informed of a delay until 1.5 hours after order in which we were informed it would take a further 25 minutes. We’d have been far more understanding if there was communication.
as a comparison, a competing local pizza restaurant we visited on a busy night informed us at the time of order how long each dish would take to prepare so we could adjust our order accordingly.
we regularly visit Samos and Pythegoreo, and have taverns in the family. We understand the busy seasons, and the time taken to prepare fresh food…. This is well in excess of anything we’ve experienced to date on the island.
Others in our family have had a great experience at this restaurant during the lunch hours and suggest the...
