Not quite the evening we hoped for
We was seated with a beautiful view over the harbour and the adjacent mountains…
Our initial thought was, that it was somewhat expensive compared to some of Pythagorio’s other restaurants. But nonetheless we’re very hungry and optimistic that the food might taste thereafter.
At the beginning we got our drinks and starter course very quickly. A very well tasting garlic breed which lifted our spirits.
But from there on we waited what seemed like an eternity… We’ve ordered a penne with salmon and an orzo with seafood…
We could sense that some of the other costumers was a bit tense and an eerie mood was arising on that summer night at the Eagean sea.
The waiters staff that mainly consisted of young boys was in over their heads, they seemed tense, a bit embarrassed given the situation and unfortunately failed in communicating the matter of the messy situation.
In the exact moment we were about to leave our food came, the food itself tasted alright, but not in particular tastier than the cheaper restaurants were we formerly had dined.
At this time we had accumulated unprecedented amounts of hunger, and ate the food with a pace similar to the pace you would expect of a neglected child living at an orphanage who do not know from where the next meal will come.
The sensation did not appear and when we did not resort to lies based of politeness, and said that the long wait ruined the experience, an quite awkward situation emerged.
We was told that the reason for the wait was due to limited space on the grill and a lot of people arriving at the same time… But non of our food was grilled, so the argument fell kind of short and ended with two passionate staff members who was seeking our understanding. It was quite unpleasant considering our Scandinavian nature, where we just wanted to pay and leave without any fuzz.
We can sympathise with the importance of delivering a good experience and maintain a good reputation… But tonight was a failure and we would have wished they had communicated their shortcomings before we were gladly accepted at an almost full...
Read more27.08.2024 We visited Mermizeli tonight I am writing my review as a person with 26 years Food and Beverage manager experience ( still working) . Well, consumers/customers waiting return of their money with good service, good food, good atmosphere of the restaurant.
We ordered food and waited 47 long minutes and the waiter who took our order didn’t say anything about the long waiting time which he should definitely informed us ! Tonight We ordered Greek salad, fried zucchini and fish . Salad was below average with the taste, zucchini came straight from the fryer no taste , no own spice just like you can make at home without being experienced cook. Fish was ok but nothing special all though we paid 35 euros , rice which came with the fish did not give any extra flavor to the dish it was none sense side dish . I took sparkling water and my wife took a tasteless glass of wine which costed 8 euros. During the time we ate our food none of the waiters showed up to ask about how we do, do we enjoy the food, are we ok ?? No question, no care from their side.
We spent 30 minutes and we got enough of this time waster place , we paid 65 euros for nothing we enjoyed and left for to find another place. My opinion with so many years experience behind me in Food and Beverage business Keep away from this place if you don’t want to spent your hard earned money and priceless time. Or feel free to waste them !
My words to the owners : if you can’t run a good restaurant, please don’t...
Read moreMy mom and I stopped at Mermizeli because it was always full and I was drawn by the beautiful decor. While the food (we had salads and wine) was quite good, the service was incredibly disorganized. There were at least four people running the service, and all of them seemed lost. We were seated, but weren’t given menus and had to wait quite a while for a hurried waiter to come and ask if we had ordered or if we had even seen the menu. (He did apologize and honestly the two boys were incredibly polite.) Our drinks weren’t poured and our plates were given to our hands, not placed on the table, which already had two empty upturned plates for whatever reason? The couple next to us had problems with their appetizers and it was clear no one knew to which table each order was supposed to go. Lastly, my mom got a piece of glass in her water and cut her tongue, but the staff just took the glass away and didn’t even apologize. This left quite a bad taste after all the wonderful service we’ve been enjoying in Pythagoreio, especially in family...
