If you come to Ios stay no where else but at Leostasi!!! My wife and I rearranged our whole itinerary during our Honeymoon just to make it to this hotel during it's last 3 days of operation before it closed for the season. From the time we were picked up at the port the experience has been amazing! The hotel is one of the most beautifully designed properties we have ever been too. A lot of thought went into all of the tiny details. From the hotel pool and bar with an amazing view of the sunset perched high above the port, to Grandma's restaurant. Delicious food! We stayed in the suite with the private pool and loved every second of it. Definitely worth the money. You will also love the bathtub which is made to overflow onto the floor. :) This hotel is a family run business and if you are lucky, you will get a chance to meet Mrs. Despina Denaxa. My wife and I took a cooking class from her to learn how to prepare some traditional Greek foods and it was such a pleasure. Through our translated conversation, we learned that Mrs. Despina has owned the hotel for 20+ years and has been slowly upgrading it every year. She is hip, cool, and has great taste. You will easily be able to agree once you stay at this property. We travel the world extensively and stay at some of the best hotels. This property will forever be in our memories :) If you come to Ios stay no where else but at Leostasi!!!    Read moreIt is very rare that I find a hotel where I have been so completely at ease, energized and just plain happy. How to describe the deeply satisfying pleasures of the Liostasi experience? â âlet me count the ways!â||In the end, a hotel is its staff. The Liostasi staff is the finest I have ever experienced. From reception to the terrace, from the restaurant to the bar â you are made to feel not just a guest, but an invited guest in a welcoming home. Warm, hospitable, attentive without being in the least intrusive â they care for you. It is the only hotel I have ever visited where within a short time, everyone knew my name.||Buildings: graceful Cycladic, impeccably clean and maintained.||Rooms: modern, clean, wonderful views out over the bay from your shaded balcony.||Bar: the genius in charge mixes the best cocktails I have ever tasted, and is a mine of information about how and why you mix drinks.||Restaurant: superb cooking, careful and caring waiting, all ingredients island sourced. I had wonderful conversations with âBabette,â as I thought of her, the leading server (not her name, so I'm taking a liberty, but if you have seen the film you will know it to be a high compliment!)||Location: perched on the hill most of the way up to Chora (the main town); lots of âupâ â stairs, ramps â an adventure to climb and walk from the port or up to Chora. ||On the road up to Chora you will see fragments of ancient fortification walls. (The hotel, by the way, contains many stairs; anyone challenged by stairs should request a room with fewer steps.)||TO DO:||Take a taxi to Sharkos, the 4,500 year-old abandoned Cycladic village. The taxi will drop you at the bottom of a dirt road that leads up to the entrance â a 5 minute walk. After that, well-kept paved pathways, stairs and explanatory signs. Soak in the thought that people, like you and me, lived and loved and feared and celebrated here 45 centuries ago. Donât hurry: let it work on you.||The Chora Archaeological Museum: small, fascinating collection of pottery and carvings from the Cycladic past, largely from Skarkos.||Homerâs Tomb: if there was a Homer, if this is his tomb⌠but writers as early as Herodotus refer to it. Magnificent views on the half-hour drive there; some rough walking up to the tomb from the parking, superb views when you get there.||Then back to the Liostasi for a cold drink â the lemonade is a revelation! Then maybe a nap â or just sit out on your sprivate balcony and relax and revel in the comforts of a truly superb hotel. I count the days until I can return! Give them my greetings!|(Note: no airport on Ios, but ferry service from just about anywhere is plentiful and...
Read moreMyself and my partner travelled to this hotel for a massage at their spa as we were recommended by the travel agency. Unfortunately due to a rather urgent situation before hand, I had to meet my partner at the spa and arrived 5 minutes late for my appointment. I was more than happy for them to continue so he didnât lose time, but my partner said they refused and were rather rude with him saying that they have to wait for me, and why am I taking so long etc. I immediately apologised when I arrived to which the lady said to me âDont apologise to me. Itâs you I feel sorry for because youâve just lost time on your massageâ. I was absolutely shocked at the way an employee from such a prestigious, high rated company spoke to us. All throughout, the ambience was not good, and left us feeling rather uncomfortable and awkward. My partner regularly has back massages to help with his back aches and pains. He said the massage was at best average. I personally thought the massage was ok, although I very rarely have them so Iâm not the best judge for quality. For the both of us, the main disappointment was the attitude of the staff who worked there toward us. As someone who suffers from anxiety, after this confrontation I wanted to just run away from the massage altogether. Iâm so sad to write this, because Iâve never had to write a negative review for a place before. But I just wanted to share my personal experience with the company. I didnât mind at all losing that time off my massage, but the way I was treated was rude and unfriendly. It made for a not so relaxing spa treatment, which is a shame as we were really looking forward to it. **please note I have no experience with the hotel itself, we came purely for the spa services. The hotel has fantastic reviews, and itâs a real shame because our spa experience reflects poorly on the hotel and company, and would put us off staying at the hotel as we had planned to...
